And I am not sure why you think "opening pipelines" will do any good.
Common sense man...... it will significantly lower gas prices and make us energy independent again. Biden's war on fossil fuels needs to end. Within the first four months of his presidency, due to him canceling lease and the Keystone Pipeline, gas prices started to rise drastically for the first time in 4 year, coincidence? I think not!
Nixon did what was good for the country; he resigned.
Trump tried to remain in power after being voted out.
If President Biden pardons him, I'm okay with that. But Trump shouldn't be allowed to run for public office again. If the Senate had convicted him and added that to the impeachment conviction, we wouldn't be where we are today.
@beckyromero Given Trump's massive denial, incompetence and malfeasance on covid that caused hundreds of thousands of additional deaths, you could Trump partial credit for worsening the situation and depressing demand, resulting in lower prices at the pump.
@beckyromero Not true There were policies in place that the current administrating terminated with executive orders Most people i know were back committing before the transition of power Between killing the pipeline (terminating thousands of jobs) and stopping the drilling the current administration started this shit show .... supply and demand did add a little bit of the policies stayed in place ...........
Make a martyr out of him, you mean ? That shouldn’t matter. If he did things that would send anyone else to prison, why should he get a pass, just because his supporters are crazy ? If they pull another Jan 6, lock them up too.
[@Harridan69] Why thank you! You know I always welcome diverse opinions like yours. It helps me understand your tolerance level for other differing opinions. I am really grateful for learning from the best, namely you and your ilk, so I can pass along your unabashed solicitation to be more tolerant.
My problem with not charging him is that we're saying some people are above the law in this country. However, I can see where his blind worshipers would confuse prosecution with persecution. Hell, they probably can't spell either word.
@LordShadowfire When you examine the many abuses of power that have occured during the many investigations, its clear to anyone with common sense that the prosecution is persecution.
Like, despite all my complaints about the American political system which is uh, all of it, one thing it has done well is maintain peaceful exchange of power. Arresting political opponents sets dangerous precedent. Remember all the "lock her up" stuff about Clinton. Even if the notion that the President is basically immune from any criminal prosecution is dangerous in and of itself I think it escalates things and Biden ends up the next one in jail once the REpublicans (imho inevitably) retake power.
@BlueVeins I hear that, but I don't see how it can work when the system is basically a glorified popularity contest and one has the level of active support he does. Our whole system revolves not around actual support but around active support vs. Apathetic resistence. The franchised vs. The disenfranchised. Those who feel empowered by a message vs. those who feel stripped of any power. If I'm right to believe that ia the case the actions to take it down can very likely amount to "innocence" by the courts of law and where does that bring us?
@MethDozer The obvious answer would be to seize power administratively and take away all the advantages that so greatly empower the Republican base. They're doing it anyway, so we might as well just shoot our shot now.
@MethDozer The GOP destroyed it, then. The balance of liberal and conservative voices on the bench were the checks and balances designed to prevent what is currently happening to women’s and voters’ rights. Even if something is precariously balanced, deliberately knocking it over is an act of destruction. 🙁
@Zonuss You never let us down on SW. When we look for what and who is leading America down to the sewers in the last 6 years..........it is always those that "don't know and don't care"........leading the way.
@Zonuss The last generation you speak of stated with Reagan...........the one that laid the same exact game plans Trump built on. Tax breaks for the rich........do away with Social Security......bust unions.......re-lying again about how great it is for us and jobs and all of that bullshit....to keep the poor, poor and the rich richer so then the wealth can trickle down.
@windinhishair im familiar, i just couldn't care about it, bc folks like you use it for misleading reasons, to promote your selfishness, its fools gold, nothing more.
You legal experts on SW...I would NOT want to mess with you guys 🥺 You have evidence of Trump's crimes, his racism and the 39 million lies he told while in office. How does Trump keep getting away with it all?
I think about anyone that cares about America would like to see trump charged and tried. I mean how do the Oath Keepers go to jail for doing what they were told to do..but the one that told them to do it gets a pass? There we're civil Rico laws pass just for this situation. But will he go to trial.......maybe a 1 in a million chance. The evidence for a president to go to prison has to be sooooooo overwhelming that no appeal will ever clear him of it. We think it's there from watching the Jan 6th hearings but legally..........maybe not so much.
But that said.............he's 76 years old. The trial here that matters is convicting him in the minds of voters and I think that verdict is sealed by a big enough majority to make sure he don't get elected...if he does get stupid and runs again. If he does...and loses again.... he'll be 80 before he can try again and that means age alone will mean he's a dead hope for the cult. IF everyone that turned out to vote against him last time does it again............he's dead.
I bet you've been shitting your pants for over 6 years you keep forgetting how many times Trump been clean. I bet you havent wiped your own ass for a long time until Trump finally gets Justice right?
@AbbySvenz What does that have to do with your statement ? We were formed on rebellion and revolution and its ALWAYS on the table regardless of YOUR personal feelings Ughhhhh
@Roundandroundwego It does...............if law exists to put it to use. But constitutionally the founders never imagined an elected official....especially a president....could possibly be so corrupt he would actually try to overthrow the United States to kill democracy. And neither could lawmakers for the past 240 years. So how do you prosecute a sitting or ex president is totally new ground. The best thing we can count on until safety nets are put into place for guidelines on how to prosecute the next one that is this corrupt and treasonous......is to expose just how corrupt trump is and count on the voters to have some sense of patriotism, ethics and common sense at the voting booth..,,,,,should he try again to take down America.
In the meantime.............he gets older and older.........and fatter...........and lazier. Between age and health.......the way to rid America of trumpism is to hope he dies...OR....... turn public opinion against him to block him from gaining an office...any office....ever again.....between now and the time he dies. Bad it comes down to that but if we count on what used to be the Republican Party to get back on track by dumping him...that is like hoping you can shake a fart out of a sheet.
@anythingoes477 not in the US political system. It works against the majority on everything. But you win! Length away that pesky understanding. Dem on! Nobody ever can do anything about anything -. Ever!
if you look at the bigger picture there was enough evidence to indite trump for being directly responsible for incite the insurrection of january the sixth.nobody is above the law and you break the law you should take the consequences of your action .i am not american but i find it so difficult as an outsider to understand why this man can command so much appeal from the american people [trollslayer]
@sunsporter1649 you call it that the guy who was shot sadly must of been warned before the policeman fired . i am sure the policeman followed police procedure, just think that policeman has this death on his conscience for the rest of his days
Should be put to a trial, because at least there will be some settlement one way or the other.
What I see is the right is being afraid of a guilty verdict. They want him to run again, so they are afraid. They disregard all the conservatives that have already testified against Trump, so they know he is guilty.
They have no regard for this system of checks and balances. That actually is offensive to them and why they are still fighting against this coming to a trial. They want a dictator that fits only their own views.
If you want him to not be elected again then a trial is absolutely necessary. Other wise you are enabling him to run again. And encouraging another January 6th incident.
Yes he should be charge with TAX Evasion .... and all those other items that are factual and can be proven OUTSIDE of the POTUS BS he caused.
When you pay $750 for 10+ years and make millions..... there is a problem NOW if he did not use the roads or infrastructure like we all do ...so be it but he does and yeah his followers are going to say its okay and blah blah but we all know its wrong and illegal what he did and is doing. Just the loopholes and all.
@Bill1372 I haven't seen too many Presidents plan, organize and attempt a coup against Democracy have you ? This is something that he can't buy his way out of. If you believe his lies then you're not 'naive' you're "Gullible".
He should be charged with various counts regarding his business practices at the local and state levels, and for insurrection on the Federal level. Plus he probably needs his income taxes VERY closely checked.
@ChipmunkErnie lmao… income taxes. System is rigged for anyone rich. The rich have the power to make sure things are in their favor. Stop worrying about Presidents. Congress and the Senate are the real problem. Remember they said that insider trading is a “job perk”?!? How can you be in charge of regulating an industry you are heavily invested in? Big time conflict of interest. How do you think Nancy Pelosi is worth over 100 million dollars?
@kodiac President Biden is not responsible for his adult son and cannot be prosecuted for any crimes his son may have committed. You do know that, right?
Was asking for a favor from the Ukrainian President Zelensky, which Trump called a "favor", in return for foreign aid approved by Congress, a crime? Trump was impeached for it.
@windinhishair Not impeached unless i missed something. Are you just being obtuse or you really don't know that biden was getting a cut from every deal his son made? The email was published
@kodiac You are missing something. Impeachment is the sole purview of the House of Representatives. The House impeached Trump. The Senate did not convict Trump, but that does not in any way erase the impeachment. Trump is the only twice-impeached President in history and will always have the two impeachments. They cannot be erased.
I have seen the allegations of Biden accepting money, but an email released by Republicans who have a computer in their custody is not even close to proof. If there is actual evidence, say documented wire transfers, etc., then he should be indicted and charged.
Republicans don’t believe in being held accountable for anything because A: it never happened
B: Don’t believe anything a Democrat says. C: when having an argument always Deny, Deny then throw irrelevant information into the argument then distract.
It's always debatable whether ex-presidents should be charged. A French court imposed a one-year sentence on former president Nicolas Sarkozy after finding him guilty of illegal campaign financing for his 2012 re-election campaign. (!) The court will allow the ex-president to serve the sentence at home by wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet.
If he isn't it gives a green light to future presidents, to do what they like without fear of repercussions. Can you imagine De Santis with that knowledge?!!!!!!
😱
SW-User
@Harriet03 Good. I want BOTH Trump and DeSantis armed with that.
@sunsporter1649 So you have PROOF that Hunter's answer was false ON THE DAY he filled out the form? All the dude needs is a reasonable doubt and prosecution's case collapses. You have PROOF beyond that reasonable doubt??
No, you don't have proof beyond a reasonable doubt. You just have a burning desire to turn the conversation away from Trump's crimes.
So if trump were to host a rally in FL and invite Desantis up on stage and then put a bullet through his head and then slit Mrs Desnatis's throat for good measure, he shouldn't be charged with a crime?
When trump is charged, tried, and found guilty by a jury of his peers, American Citizens, it will be because of his actions/inactions that he is guilty of, not because of what was done to him.
@softspokenman That’s why it’s called inciting violence as opposed to leading the charge, which he would have done if the Secret Service had let him have his way.
@DunningKruger Beginning of the end Seriously We've been in trouble for a long time I was better off 2 years ago then i am now If you dig every politician is a crook
Right now the GQP base is avoiding the truth by not watching the hearings. If Dotard had his own TV show called, The Trial Of Donald Trump, they would watch. Maybe they would actually learn what happened during Trump's Presidency and what happened and who was REALLY responsible for Jan 6th.
@AthrillatheHunt Im sure she will too, seeing as when she was running for D.A ,one of her campaign promises was that she was going to indicte Donald Trump on something! Its like Stalin said:"Show me the man and Ill find you the crime!"
Doesn't matter if his Cult dislikes it. If we still have a country, no one is above the law. If it strengthens his support, so be it. And when they commit crimes in the future on his behalf, lock them up too. Let the rule of law prevail.
If there is evidence of a crime, he should be charged and prosecuted. No man should be above the law. But after 2 impeachment attempts that Trump was acquitted on, I don't believe there is any criminal evidence. The Jan 6 hearing is strike 3 by the dems in trying to smear Trump. If there was any actionable evidence, they would be all over it instead of a made-up coup attempt.
@Roadsterrider Neither the impeachments nor the January 6 Committee are establishing the commission of a crime. Republican failure to convict based on the impeachment has nothing to do with the legality or illegality of the acts committed by the President. And the Commission is establishing factual information and has no ability to indict. Only the DOJ can do that at a federal level, and court filings have established that there is an active and ongoing investigation. In other words, they ARE all over it.
@Oster1 @Oster1 Sorry, TOaster Puck. The Nazis were defeated in WWII and aren't going to come back. You're fighting a losing battle at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons. Your lying, deception, and disinformation will never succeed. I wish you good health and sanity in your remaining few years.
