Should Trump be charged with crimes?

My question is not about whether or not he is guilty of crimes, but whether it would be good for the country as a whole to charge him even if there is ample evidence. I certainly see where there is enough evidence of crimes, but considering 40% of the country is still swallowing his #$%#, I think having him "tried" in the court of public opinion may be the better outcome in the long run. I fear that charging him will only strengthen his support.

If you think that's an issurection you're in for it when the shit really hits the fan.

@MrSmooTh Is that another violent promise?
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
@windinhishair Only if it needs to be. It doesn't have to come to that though. Politicians need to start waking up and realizing that they are supposed to work for the people. If they don't Jan 6th will look like a small temper tantrum. So how about do something about inflation, balance the budget, solve the crisis at the border, or create ways to start producing more oil here in the states. Anything but continue to attack Donald Trump who is not even in office anymore. If this tells you anything it's that the democrats are scared shitless of Trump ever getting back into power.

@MrSmooTh Everyone who cares about the country should be concerned that a Trump could get into office again. If he does, we will no longer have a country based on democracy. I do agree that we need to address the issues that face the country and fix the dysfunctional Congress, but there is no reason we cannot do that AND ensure that our future democracy is secure. It isn't an either/or situation.

@MrSmooTh Your inability to walk and chew gum at the same time shouldn't be projected onto others.

@MrSmooTh Just because an insurection was attempted by a thousands of incapable clowns who failed doesn't mean it wasn't an attempted insurection.

What would you call it
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
@MethDozer standing up for what you believe in. It used to be the American way.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@MrSmooTh Violently trying to overthrow a free and fair election did not used to be the American way. In fact, it had never happened in our more than 200 year history until Trump lied about the election and called his gullible worshipers to Washington to put him back into office illegally and violently. It is antithetical to the American way.

@MrSmooTh The Confederacy fought for what they believed in too.

Point being, it depends on what you are fighting for on whether you're the hero or villian.
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
@MethDozer I would have sided with the confederacy. I'm from South Carolina. You're going to have to do better.
MethDozer · M
@MrSmooTh At lwast you admit to siding with tratorist antiAmerican pieces of shit.
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
@MethDozer Lee should have listened to Longstreet and withdrew from Gettysburg to march on Washington after the 1st day and we wouldn't have to worry about any of this. The damn yankee liberals would have their own country and the good guys would have theirs.
MethDozer · M
@MrSmooTh Lee should have been hung for treason and Reconstruction should have lasted 100 years.
