becoming?

Because of the misconception that the majority is right and the misconception even a small group of people are the same.
No two people are alike. We don't see, hear, touch, smell or taste the same way, much less think alike.
Even our perception of time is different in multiple ways.
And there is even more differences.
No two people share the same DNA. Even identical twins have different DNA.
Our commonalities are no bigger than our differences. And very likely our differences are bigger than our commonalities.

@WoWgirll here are some references....
Here are some recent findings regarding DNA differences in identical twins that can support your position in the debate:
Genetic Variations in Identical Twins
A 2021 study published in Nature Genetics found that out of 381 pairs of identical twins, only 38 had perfectly identical DNA. The study identified an average of 5.2 genetic mutations per twin pair, with some pairs exhibiting more than 100 differences. This suggests that even genetically identical twins can have notable DNA variations that may impact their development and health.
Research Findings on Twin Genetics
According to a report from Smithsonian Magazine, genetic mutations often occur due to replication errors during cell division. This means that if a mutation happens early in embryonic development, one twin might carry DNA changes that the other does not. This was supported by the research led by Kari Stefansson, which reveals that scientists need to reconsider assumptions about the identical nature of twin DNA in studies focused on nature versus nurture.
Methylation and DNA Differences
Advanced genomic studies have shown that epigenetic differences can also play a significant role in how identical twins express their genes. For example, twins share nearly identical DNA but can exhibit different health outcomes due to variations in gene expression influenced by environmental factors and lifestyle. These differences are often revealed through techniques such as DNA methylation testing, which can detect chemical changes in the DNA that occur as twins grow older.
Limitations of Standard DNA Testing
Traditional DNA tests, such as STR (short tandem repeat) analysis, often cannot distinguish between identical twins, as their DNA sequences are nearly indistinguishable. However, newer methods such as whole genome sequencing and methylation testing can identify rare mutations that develop after birth, allowing for differentiation between twins.
Epigenetic Differences in Identical Twins
A 2025 article published in The Scientist discusses how identical twins, despite sharing identical DNA sequences, are epigenetically distinct. Research led by Jordana Bell from King’s College London has highlighted significant individual differences in gene expression among monozygotic twins, suggesting that their epigenetic profiles can diverge with age and environmental exposures.
Advanced DNA Testing Techniques
An article from November 2025 on criminaldefense.kramonandgraham.com explains that while standard DNA tests cannot differentiate between identical twins, advanced methods—like whole genome sequencing and DNA methylation testing—can reveal rare mutations and epigenetic changes that develop over a lifetime. These tools illustrate that twins can indeed exhibit genetic differences, particularly as they age.
Insights from Behavioral Studies
Research highlighted in various publications has shown that monozygotic twins can display different susceptibilities to diseases and behavioral traits, which correlates with observed differences in their DNA and gene expression. Their unique experiences and environments contribute to these differences, suggesting that even ostensibly identical twins can differ significantly at the genetic level.
These findings highlight that while identical twins share a significant amount of genetic material, they can still exhibit important differences at the genetic and epigenetic levels. This complexity is crucial to understanding individual differences that extend beyond mere physical appearances.

I think things are changing. It is no worse nor better, but different.
People blame the media but when the media talks about whatever group we are suppose to h4te this month, it basically causes fear at first but people eventually get used to the fact that the demograph exists and stop worrying.
Also, it is easier to dislike a demograph than an individual from that group because if we get to talking to them, we find out how much we have in common, how much we can relate.
The big thing right now in America is we are suppose to fear latinos. Well I do not know about anyone else but I have had no more problems with them than with whites or blacks.
In America, even if it WERE purely white and "Brady Bunch". eventually those people would find reasons to h4te each other.
Right now ol donny wants to deport all the "illegals". Does he not realize that even if that were feasible, that would create as many problems as it would supposedly solve?

Depends on your definition of "different."
🤔 As I see it, we're all inherently different.
And yet, in spite of our many differences, there are many things that make us the same, too.
Even twins who are identical in appearence may have differing personalities.
One thing that make us the same above all else, is that we're all human.
Also, it's our differences that make this world of ours an interesting place.
If we were all the same, the world would be so dull and boring.

Because it is easier to hate things you feel threatened by -- particularly when you are constantly egged on to do so by polarized politicians and media -- than to try to learn and understand other beliefs, cultures, way of living. The shortened attention spans abd AI/algorhythmic force-fed reinforcement of biases in our polarized digital society make it harder, and harder to be open to learning about different things. The unintended consequences of the Internet, which was originally designed to open up and expedite global communication and understanding.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@ArishMell absolutely you are so right
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@AngelUnforgiven @ArishMell Absolutely. But the Internet gave it a far bigger, and largely unchecked megaphone for spreading that hatred plus an assumption that if it is on the Internet it must be true.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@dancingtongue I agree. Good point, your second one (assumption). I must admit I'd forgotten about that!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
I doubt it's any more or less intolerant than was always the case, but the rise of systems like the Internet and the major [anti]social companies has made intolerance and fear of "difference" easer to see, to encourage, to propagate.
A major case study is Extraodinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, by the historian and journalist Charles MacKay. It should be required reading for what it still teaches about mass- fear and intolerance, using examples from Mediaeval to his own time ... the middle of the 19th Century!

ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
It's not becoming, it always has been. If anything the accessibility of social media has led to a bit more tolerance because people have learned that if they are different they are not alone in that difference.

This is why neuro-atypical people (like me) and labelled as 'diseased' and 'inhuman' by many who think neuro-atypicality is a mental illness (ie. a 'problem) requiring a solution (ie. a 'cure'). The medical model is a disgusting way to categorise people who don't fit into what's considered neuro-typical behaviour, thinking, etc.
JustNik · 51-55, F
I don’t think it is. What waxes and wanes is the acceptability of expressing intolerance. Nothing blooms without a seed.
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
Serious?
The media has spent 20 years polarising the divide and conquer.
Labelling everyone with a different opinion as ‘evil’ and the cause of ppls problems..
What you expect to happen?

@NativePortlander1970 I’m watching mark Kelly right now.
I’m convinced they tried to set a trap to distract from everything going on
, and being arrested for sedition was part of their plan..
I’ll bet they had every trump hating media ready to go with dictator hit pieces. Trump hating world leaders ready to read the ‘trumps a dictator’ speeches..
But trump never took the bait…
And he’s on tv everyday now doubling down.. begging to be arrested..
This is the globalist death spiral..

It used to same even before. Do you think people were tolerant at times of world wars? It's just now a days you get to see more of it on internet and media.
Alyosha · 36-40, M
Liberal democracy isn't delivering on its promises. Too many homeless, too many working but cannot afford to live, too many billionaires in the mix. If you're rich, you're fine. If not, you get nothing.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Alyosha Wow. I don't mind admitting I'm pleasantly surprised at that answer. Common ground. Good.
EBSVC · 41-45, T
@LordShadowfire The “liberal” in liberal democracy isn’t about the political movement.
It means a democracy that has checks and protections against the popular will. In a non-liberal democracy we could vote to imprison all gay people and if the majority supported it then it would happen.
And that person is right, liberal democracy is failing us. But that’s largely due to something else

It's not becoming — this is the way humans have always been since time immemorial. We go through occasional periods of a minor degree of tolerance from time to time, but it always goes back to intolerance.
Thinkingdeeper · 36-40, M
It has happened before and it is why it is important to learn from history or we are bound to repeat it.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with different unless your goal is to force feed your “difference” on others.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
It's always been that way. We, as a whole of society, are unfortunately, hate filled creatures.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Politicians the world over are stoking the fear. Xenophobia is at an all-time high in order to keep us at each other's throats instead of realizing who the real enemy is.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AthrillatheHunt It's more of a "that's not a completely accurate portrayal of the situation". However, immigration has increased, and that does scare certain melanophobic individuals.

The world has always been intolerant to others who are different. The difference today is that the media brings it more out in the open than it used to be.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@IM5688 That's because thousands of years ago, it was of benefit to humans to avoid being around humans who were visibly different. It confused predators when humans who resembled each other banded together. Think about a herd of zebras, and you'll get the idea. But we no longer need that, and the only humans now who are like that can literally be said to be less evolved.
