Liberal democracy isn't delivering on its promises. Too many homeless, too many working but cannot afford to live, too many billionaires in the mix. If you're rich, you're fine. If not, you get nothing.

@Alyosha Yeah, let's go ahead and blame liberals for that.
Remind me again who keeps cutting taxes for the rich and killing programs for the poor. Is it liberals?

@LordShadowfire If the system were more responsive to the needs of people, you wouldn't have the radical polarization making it less effective.

@Alyosha So you're telling me that you're good with implementing more programs to make the system more responsive to the needs of the people?
Alyosha · 36-40, M
@LordShadowfire Yes, absolutely.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Alyosha Wow. I don't mind admitting I'm pleasantly surprised at that answer. Common ground. Good.

@LordShadowfire The “liberal” in liberal democracy isn’t about the political movement.
It means a democracy that has checks and protections against the popular will. In a non-liberal democracy we could vote to imprison all gay people and if the majority supported it then it would happen.
And that person is right, liberal democracy is failing us. But that’s largely due to something else

@EBSVC I was not aware of that. Thank you.
