The world has always been intolerant to others who are different. The difference today is that the media brings it more out in the open than it used to be.

@IM5688 That's because thousands of years ago, it was of benefit to humans to avoid being around humans who were visibly different. It confused predators when humans who resembled each other banded together. Think about a herd of zebras, and you'll get the idea. But we no longer need that, and the only humans now who are like that can literally be said to be less evolved.
