[c=BF0080] Have you ever tried a chick pea like salad? I’ve only tried this mix. I love it, been making it years now 🥰 My OCD kicks in though trying to get rid of the chick pea skins 🤣 [/c]
@Lostpoet [c=BF0080]I do that home and it becomes a big ordeal 🤣 Have you ever tried it with apple or pear in it? I can only put it in salads that I’m not using a dreamy type of dressing. Toasted almonds are good in salads too. [/c]
@MellyMel22 I like apples in my salad. I don't think i've ever tried putting pears in it though. My favorite things to put in the salad are cucumbers, artichoke hearts, avocado, stuffed grape leaves, cherry tomatos, onions, bell peppers, olives, zucchini, peas, corn, drizzled with olive oil.
Just regular salad, using fresh Romaine Lettuce, Red Cabbage, Cucumbers, Black Olives, topped with Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese and Olive Garden brand Italian Dressing.
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout [c=BF0080]It’s nothing nasty for someone who eats that stuff. I don’t eat meat, chicken or any type of seafood.. I tend her your hatred of tomatoes 🤭 Do you not eat pasta sauce too 😱[/c]
@MellyMel22 Aw that's horrible! Talk about high school trauma.
I don't blame you at all. I couldn't dissect anything bigger than that frog. They were in a chemical--it stunk like vinegar.
Can't believe they gave you unpreserved specimens, decomposing. My joint elementary/high school also used cats for their high school classes.
I remember in 5th grade, 2 seniors displayed a cat pinned open at our annual science fair. It was soaked in an embalming chemical called Formaldehyde, also used in funeral homes. It's aroma is overwhelmingly powerful. Not foul, but disturbingly bizzare; like a stew of industrial chemicals. It smells lethal. The grim reaper's Aftershave, it clings to you; whispering: "I am death incarnate."
Like you, I've not forgotten the sight nor smell. Or its association.
I've never seen the benefit of using innocent creatures to teach anatomy. It's not med school. There's nothing to be gained that can't be gotten in text books or class videos.
@SethGreene531 [c=BF0080]I’m not sure what they did at my school. I refused to go in the room the first day. It was ridiculously strong.
Yuck, open 🤢
I agree. In college my bio teacher had dead fetuses in jars on the tables. That set me off. Prob didn’t help that I had lost a baby in a car accident not long before. But honestly, I don’t think my reaction would’ve been much better had I not. [/c]
@MellyMel22 My gosh that's too much to take. Especially if unexpected.
I can't imagine how triggering that was after your accident. A revisit with the trauma of it all. Let me say how sorry I am for your loss. For a mother, the death of a child is a scar that never fully heals. 💜😔 😔
@Casheyane [c=BF0080]Nice! Glad you enjoyed it!
I used oil, vinegar, Italian seasonings and both blue cheese crumbles and Gorgonzola. I’m not sure how to describe the taste. I guess they have a mild flavor. They’re used them for hummus if that helps 🤔 I sometimes bake them a bit loaded with Italian seasonings and put them in small cups to snack on. Two of my kids love them. [/c]
I haven’t heard of that! Mine aren’t cooked veggies and I use oil & vinegar with Italian seasonings, blue cheese crumbles and Gorgonzola crumbles. [/c]
As a kid, an elderly neighbour used make me what became the benchmark of salads. Lots of fruit. She'd encourage me to pick in her garden as many of the ingredients as possible for maximum freshness - lettuce, spring onions, peas, beans, strawberries, potatoes ..Anything could go in as long as it wasn't meat : orange segments, grapefruit segments, raisins, grapes, even sorbet. Anything I didn't like she'd invariably say "Good! All the more for me!". A happy memory.
@MellyMel22 It is. I became a vegetarian at the age of about eight and used to enquire into the ingredients of everything. When I asked her what went into salad cream I was told "Pigs' Toes", but when she realised I was taking it seriously she went out of her way to assure me she was joking!
I still like chef salad but lately I've been making a tuna salad with white beans parsley red onions tabasco and lemon juice. (and salt and pepper) I'm supposed to put oil on it but I leave it off. It's good on sour dough.
My fav salad is the chopped salad I used to get at a restaurant called Cucina Cucina. It had salami, olives, tomatoes, chick peas, mozzarella, scallions, chicken, romaine lettuce, with a creamy Italian vinegarette
It looks good and filling. I used to love adding chickpeas to salad but I haven’t for a long time. There’s soo many tasty things you can add to a salad
@MellyMel22 yes I have. I can’t have gluten noodles now so don’t make it. Most of the gluten-free noodles leave a lot to be desired, they don’t always hold their shape by the time they get cooked.
@cherokeepatti [c=BF0080]I’m sorry you can’t have gluten. My Dr wanted to do an endoscopy to see if that’s my problem. I don’t eat meat, chicken or fish- so it’s be really hard to give up pasta/breads. I’m very fussy too. [/c]
@akindheart [c=BF0080]Jazz, Fuji and Honey Crisp in that order. Jazz aren’t sour, but have a great sweet but not overly sweet flavor and the texture is what I prob love most. I like crisp, but often I feel many apples aren’t so crisp as they say they are 😡 [/c]
