In this busy world, how do you break away from the hustle and recharge?

I find that even when I do take breaks, the effect is gone as soon as I hit the grind again. It’s like a nagging desire to just stop and surrender.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
That happens to me as well. I can disconnect from the demands and worries of the world around me, just to get immersed right back into it the second I step foot back in an environment that requires more from me. And I’m actually okay with that because I had a genuine breather away to recharge enough to deal with the chaos again. I understand that the recharge has its time as well as the 90 to nothing does. My method of recharging varies though. It comes by way of whatever my heart desires in that time allotted to me. I dive into it knowing that the second I walk through the doors of work the breather is over as I shift gears to be who I need to be to get everything done on a level that makes me feel good about my performance. I will say that when I’m deep into it at work I constantly have music playing in my head to keep me from getting too consumed by it that my anxiety gets triggered…plus it helps to motivate me even more while keeping me grounded to that place of zen within.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart part of my job is traveling a couple of hours away and working alone. I keep tunes on and during the fun jobs, it’s a legit break for me from the all my burdens. I’m fortunate in that

Sometimes, I’m convinced what I love most about my job is the alone time. It’s physically demanding work though. The tough days wear me out

I just gotta find a way to stay disconnected, once I get my mind in that mode
deadteddy · 26-30, F
Definitely taking vacations from work. If not possible, having a good night of sleep already helps. I’m talking getting 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@deadteddy I don’t sleep well; I’m a very light sleeper. Every couple of months, when I just can’t go another night on touch and go sleep, I’ll pop a couple sleep aid pills. I’m almost always ready to take on the world the next day
AbbeyRhode · F
I don't have much free time, so when I do, it helps to remove myself from my surroundings for a bit, and go out for a cup of coffee. I go down to the local Quick Chek, relax with some soup and coffee, and enjoy the music and the company of my fellow regulars. Sometimes I'll watch something uplifting on my phone while I eat.
AbbeyRhode · F
@WatchThis Some days more than others. Some days call for a second break, if possible. If it's not, music helps. Maybe I'll treat myself to a healthy snack.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@AbbeyRhode I do rely heavily on music
AbbeyRhode · F
@WatchThis Me, too. Energetic and happy music really helps my mood.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
I hear accessing meditation can work to decompress at any moment if you get good at it. So being in a anxious moment or difficult, which are not calming, you deep breathe and focus on a few things in your immediate vicinity. Like maybe you smell coffee ..so you think of and observe that scent in and out. Or you see a blue painting..you zoom in on every aspect of blue and it becomes a calming dynamic.
I myself will try to think..in 2 hours..I can...do such and such. Or in just 4 hours I can ..this or that. It gets me through a bit better.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Coralmist I’m gonna try that today!
@WatchThis Consider that if you burn out or you suffer ill-health mentally from your goal-which may be a bit too extreme-all of this will mean nothing. You can only give so much to people. Most all have no boundaries on what they will take. It is like adding water to a bucket with a hole in it. Mind you take great care of you. Your family needs you there. No amount of a paid-off house matters to them. Many men your age overwork. They feel such a responsibility. And that is a burden. Consider what I have said. And choose wisely. I have a feeling you know what is a priority in life. You are. And that is right.

@PoetryNEmotion 💞 The very purpose of my post. Thank you so much.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
So relatable.
I try to go camping a few times a summer somewhere where there's no cell signal and I have a forced tech break.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Starcrossed camping used to be my getaway. A lot of tent camping. I’ve had a lot of family obligations this year. I think that has a lot to do with it
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@WatchThis well hopefully you can get back to it soon to heal your spirit.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Starcrossed I’m already feeling better with the advice I’ve gotten from several folks 💛 Thank you so much
Finding balance is the key. It takes decades for many. I like lidteni g to mudic. I ding. I dance. Find the things that fill your heart with passion. Do more of those. The goal is to create a life you do not need to run away from. I too enjoy working alone. My RN career peopled me out. My current job? During it, I can fo most of my passions. So the long hours are filled with good. I hope this helps.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@PoetryNEmotion it does, immensely. I think part of the problem is that I’ve been doing the peopley part of my job for over a month now. It’s really taken the wind out of my sails. And my kids and I feel off; can’t tell if it’s them or me, but I’m never good when I got that going on

And I’ve been pushing about as hard as I ever have in life. I set a goal for myself last year, to have my house paid off and at this pace, that would realistically happen in about a year and a half. So I just don’t want to let up on the throttle. Debt free is literally the life I don’t want to run away from

Much to consider…
@WatchThis My reply is up above. I don't know why it went there. Maybe it is a sign that should be heeded.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@PoetryNEmotion Couldn’t agree more
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
Meditation, going for walks, breath work, Pilates, taking a day off from work, blocking my calendar so I can focus, making sure to plan a weekend or at least one day with nothing on the calendar. It’s hard, but life shouldn’t be this grind we make it. I try to find joy whenever I can.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@ChampagneOnIce I do and really, I have plenty. It’s just been a couple years now of loved ones’ needs consuming it. I’m hoping next year, I can use them for the purpose of rest
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@WatchThis I can understand that. Life is a hard road sometimes, but I always know it will get better. It ebbs and flows. I hope next year will bring you sunnier skies and moments of the rest you need.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@ChampagneOnIce thank you so much!
Domking · 61-69, M
I just take take the lazy parts of the busy world !!
😜
As for stress and hustle, I swim against the tide, keep my requirements simple and low, share my thoughts & feelings with friends who understand me, and go for walks, tour the hills & seaside, read books, and look at my limitations, enjoy fun & jokes.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Domking I feel like that’s where I’ve gone wrong, twice in my life. I strive for the life I want and when I get here, it’s not what I want at all. All my time is dictated by the schedule of those around me
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
I understand drinking since I started drinking again 🥃
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
@WatchThis thanks
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@BLP11520 I’ll drive buzzed. I know I shouldn’t, but I typically don’t intend on having more than a couple and then, there I am…
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
@WatchThis it’s easy to do, certain hours cops are lurking for speeding and impaired driving
JustNik · 51-55, F
Drawing completely shuts off my mind, which is precious. I also like to learn new things that are hard for me so I have to concentrate. I don’t think a break is enough. I need to love what I’m doing with it.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@JustNik hmm… that’s a good point, legitimately enjoying what I’m doing with my downtime. That’s something I’m not doing right now. I just kinda space out on devices or the tv and when it’s time to get back to it, I just feel like I’ve wasted time
akindheart · 61-69, F
i am facing the same problem. i am always tired. everything seems like a chore
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@akindheart That’s pretty much right where I’m at
akindheart · 61-69, F
@WatchThis i won't be any help because i am in the midst of sorting everything out...but focus on one problem at a time. and you can always message me.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@akindheart Thank you so much for the offer. I may take you up on it if I don’t figure something out soon
Selah ·
My world isn't really busy or a hustle. I've made sacrifices to make sure it's not. I would love to be a high performer but it would literally kill me lol. Not worth it 🤷🏾‍♀.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Selah if death is the cost, I totally agree! lol… that’s what I’m working towards. Creating a life that’s not so demanding of my time and energy. Not necessarily to be lazy, but to use it for leisure
SilentSaturn · 26-30, M
I struggled with this for a long time. Its a mindset change.. ultimately find a way to make more money in less time and work less. Be comfortable with making less money too.

Prioritize yourself..
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@SilentSaturn My wife and I just discussed that yesterday. I think I’m going to take one day off per month with no agenda. Just hit up a coffee shop or nice place for lunch
DareToSayIT · 31-35, M
By taking long bear naps.

On a serious note, no, I constantly grind 14-16 hours a day. Do I like it? Some parts of it but hey, can’t complain in this sort of economy.
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@DareToSayIT That’s where I’m at! 13 hours yesterday and I’ll have a little over 12 by the time I get home this evening. I’m in heavy equipment repair. It’s good money. Trying to pay off my house in a year and a half. After that, I’m hitting cruise control… it’s exhausting for the time being though

@jshm2 I think I am, but I feel like if I can endure, I’ll get to my goal of paying off all my debt sooner. I’m on track to be debt free in almost exactly a year and a half. I’ve promised myself that I was going to go hard until I get there and when that confirmation letter comes after paying off my house, I’m taking two weeks off to celebrate and start thinking about the next chapter
A good night of sleep makes it all better. Then have a good cup of coffee or a coke! All will be well then. 😉
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@NoGamesTolerated every now and then, when I can’t take the short nights, I’ll pop a couple night aid pills. I always wake up, ready to take on the world
jefferson · M
go fishing, on a river, or lake, its very relaxing
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@jefferson I need you get into fishing. I’ve heard that many times. And my kids want to do it
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
My world isn't busy at all. 😅
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@CrazyMusicLover you’re my goal! I want to wake up each day with an agenda, but not an overwhelming one
Anniedlr · 26-30, F
I like to read History or go swimming 🙂🙂🙂
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Anniedlr I didn’t think I’d enjoy history as much as I do. It’s interesting and you have to be careful who’s perspective it’s from

And I’m all about the water. During the summer, if we’re not out on the boat, we’re at the beach
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@pripyatamusementpark I could do a permanent detox. I keep threatening to buy a cabin in the woods
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
I hear that for sure
WatchThis · 41-45, M
@Lilliesandlight I think I’ve got a plan I’m comfortable with. A lots of folks have suggested it’s burnout. I think they’re right

@ToddpicogramakaSatan I drink a lot. Haven’t tried the toilet part. Maybe that’s where I’m going wrong
