What have you regretted the most in your life?

it is important to note that some degree of regret is normal and can even be a valuable learning experience. The goal is not to completely eliminate regret, but rather to minimize it and learn from it
I have some regrets that are more like “I wish I had done more of this, said more of this to certain people, etc”. Those I cannot really undo or bring back time. I can only do better with the present opportunities.

There are regrets that affected the turn of my life in a major way. I can only accept what is and move forward.

When I think about the lessons and the experiences, a part of me does not regret the choices at all. The heartaches and disappointments have all made me who I am — flawed but real.

@CookieCrumbs Beautiful. Well said. Good share..
Magenta · F
Indeed. A few regrets keep us humble.
Mine is, some poor choices and behavior with one, that contributed to the eventual heartbreak.
Coldplay · 61-69, M
@Magenta our mistakes sure make us who we are. Responsibility and learning are spot on. So many these days won’t take responsibility. I have plenty of things I would change. Heartbreak is central on one of them.
Magenta · F
@Coldplay Oh yes. I don't wallow, but I remember. It keeps us real, more honest and teaches us about ourselves and what NOT to do. We're human, not robots or saints. It's why it should also make it easier to show grace towards others blunders as well. We don't just know how we will be or behave in a situation until we are right in the throes of it. 💙
Coldplay · 61-69, M
@Magenta totally. Especially showing grace.
TexChik · F
Not too much. Though my childhood was a complete nightmare, who I became and the events that occurred in my life as a result of that are things I treasure and would not trade.
Coldplay · 61-69, M
One major decision but I cannot change it because too many of the people I love dearly would be hurt deeply. So I smile and move forward.
SammyJo · 51-55, F
Hmmmm....nothing, really. There were things that happened to me that I really didn't wish for, so as an example, getting raped and terrified that I caught AIDS was a very major one.

But, I really wanted to be a biology teacher...and ended up a prostitute. Bit of a different fork in the road there, but nothing that I am not proud of. I'm happy enough with how things are.

I have 2 lovely daughters, great in-laws, grandchildren....and the love of my life...so what's to regret?

@Iwillwait But, you never know
Iwillwait · M
@Coralmist I guess....
Ferric67 · M
Every single regret has brought me to this point....and to be quite honest...it's a good point to be.
Who is to say that if I had undone those past regrets...that I'd have it this good now?
Ferric67 · M
@Hassanovic007 everything in life is a lesson, in my opinion, that is why we are offered the privilege of having a human experience
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@Ferric67 That's a great perspective. Life is full of lessons, and our experiences shape us into the people we are today. It's important to embrace those lessons and use them to grow and improve ourselves. Every mistake or challenge we face can be an opportunity for learning and personal development
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
@Ferric67 agreed🙌

I regret that i ever met my ex husband. It completely changed my life
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
I have too many to even comment
PatKirby · M
@QueenOfZaun

Same here. Most of my reasons for regret are part of a defense mechanism. I think we all have them, some more than others.

When I asked my old car sales manager I worked a short time for if he had regrets, he said he had none. Told him everyone does, but he insisted. Now that's a mark of a great salesman, hahaha 😂
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@QueenOfZaun It's okay to feel that way. Everyone has their own journey and experiences. It's important to focus on the present and future, and learn from our past mistakes
TexChik · F
Of course I was only a child, but my repeatedly going back home and hoping that sick SOB wouldn't hurt me anymore. My worst ptsd rage is over that very thing...Why? Why did I go back there knowing he would hurt me? I was all alone in the middle of nowhere on a farm and I needed human interaction according to the docs. Its still a sore subject 29 years later
meggie · F
Getting married do young.
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@meggie Possible regrets of getting married too young can include missing out on personal growth and development, feeling trapped or limited in the relationship, and the possibility of the marriage not lasting

{@hassanovic007] 😞 after my dads sdden passing never got that chance to tell him how sorry i was for the way i have treated him and was with him .i will always regret this until the day i join him
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@smiler2012 I'm sorry to hear that. It's never easy to lose a loved one, and it can be especially difficult when we have unresolved feelings or regrets. While it's natural to feel remorse about not being able to reconcile with your father, it's important to remember that you can still honor him by living in a way that would have made him proud. Maybe you could also find solace in writing a letter to him, expressing your thoughts and feelings, even if it's just for yourself. It's never too late to make peace with the past, even if it's in your hear

Causing them to be late
SW-User
@SW-User I did though, it’s all my fault
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@SW-User don't think that way keep yourself strong think for future :)
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@SW-User Whatever occurred, Im so sorry. 😧 But, you didnt do anything, causing lateness etc. Its an illusion that WE chose this, or that...the universe is in charge, of how time goes, of nearly everything. Nothing is "your" fault💗

I have a few regrets, mostly choices I have made and not being true to myself and my feelings for someone, now I am missing out on something which may have been wonderful. ☹️
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
A lot of times I think I regret something but then when I remember everything that it taught me & how far I've come then it doesn't feel so much like regret anymore
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@ChiefJustWalks thanks for sharing thought ,
It's great that you're able to see the positive side of your past experiences and use them as lessons to help you grow and improve. but it's important to remember that it's not always a bad thing. Sometimes regret can help us learn from our mistakes and make better decisions in the future. It's all about finding a healthy balance between acknowledging the past and moving forward with a positive attitude

My regret is being too fearful, trusting some people, not taking care of myself, not standing up for myself, not believing in myself and the list goes on and on.

I have many regrets.
I try not to dwell on it for too long.
The past is the past.
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@Lilymoon Acknowledge and learn from your regrets, but don't dwell on them for too long as the past cannot be changed. Focus on the present and strive to make positive changes for the future

Because I’m older, I look back on my time when I was an athlete, D1 college wrestler. I wish I was more driven, better trained, and knew what it meant to win. It’s not the record, or individual accolades or the team. It’s for your soul. Did you push yourself as hard as possible and succeed?

It’s a life lesson that I would’ve valued had I learned it earlier in my adulthood. Being driven is just the base of the mountain. Being mentally sated is the peak. That’s the real goal in life.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
I would say I regret I wasn't a better father and more involved in my two sons' upbringing; ; particularly my eldest who had a troubled adolescence. Those 16-hour workdays and being on-call at all hours even when I was home sort of cut into a lot of quality time. Despite that, both have turned out great and both keep bringing up stuff they say they learned from me, mostly by example, so perhaps I wasn't that bad a Dad. But really the credit goes to their mother, God rest her soul.
Not doing more.
I keep wasting all of my time.

I did started few things in my life b4 proper time as per maturity and culture of society , I never think about consequences or may be I didn't have enough mind for that and these few things taken me to some other different things that made me life dark and darker and I lost in to that dark from where I have no way return .

Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
I have many unfortunately, I was stupidly chasing others to fill a huge void when I was younger (part of me still is). I should have focused on myself 30 years ago instead and put myself in the position I am now, and thankfully the void is A LOT smaller.

calicuz · 56-60, M
I actually have no regrets. I've lived my life the way I've wanted to, without hindrance or caution. Any poor decisions or mistakes I've made I simply own up to them and move on.
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@calicuz That's a great mindset to have! It's important to live life on your own terms and not let fear or hesitation hold you back. Owning up to mistakes and moving on is also a valuable trait as it allows you to learn from the experience and grow as a person. Keep living your life the way you want to and don't let regrets hold you back

Mostly things i didn’t do like having more self confidence as a teenager, spending more time with my parents, going to Wigan casino for the dancing, not climbing more mountains.

I only have small regrets. The worst things that happened to me were out of my control. Regrets are a waste of emotion to me anyway.

wish in one hand and shit in the other and we all know which one will fill up first.

No sense dreaming about that which we cannot change.

Not really a regret coz i had no role to play but i dearly wish if my late Dad wasn't how he was, my life would have been way better than what it is right now.
Hassanovic007 · 36-40, M
@Donotfolowme It's understandable to have such thoughts and feelings, especially when it comes to the impact of our parents on our lives.
However, it's important to remember that we can only control our own actions and choices, we can focus on making the best of what we have and creating a better future for ourselves. It's never too late to work towards a happier and more fulfilling life.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@Hassanovic007 its not entirely true
