@PRAISE30 I realised you were connecting the pandemic with low fertility. They are quite different things and pollution may well be one reason for the latter.

The future is certainly bleak. We might be able to reduce pollution, but shortages of water are being recognised as a growing, major future hazard even in relatively moist countries like Britain.

There is another looming problem less often discussed, and that is the depletion of natural resources we have to rely on for so much. Metals can be re-used, and so can some other materials to a point, but most such re-processing requires a lot of heat that has to come from something.

Refining steel certainly does, due to its thermal properties including very high melting-point and forging temperatures, but steel, which is an alloy of iron and carbon plus sometimes other metals, is our most important class of metal. It is fundamental to virtually everything we do, use or own.

When we have no more petroleum or coal though, either by choice or by having used it all, how are we going to replace so many of the raw chemicals they provide as well as fuels?

We may remove one serious problem such as producing far too much atmospheric carbon-dioxide, but doing so may create further problems itself. Whatever we do will not be easy or pleasant, which is why some people still try desperately to deny any such problems.

@Ynotisay Yes. Sadly..That attitude is less prevalent here and people tolerated Lock downs and masks better. And that meant that in my state particularly, the first wave (before vaccines) cost far fewer lives than in most other places..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I don't doubt that lockdowns, masks, etc. were helpful in some way, but they were so haphazard in application and here in Australia every state was tasked by the federal government to 'do its own thing' even with the jabs. Different rules not just in different states but different regions (local government areas). Might have been more universally accepted had it been a national approach.

@PRAISE30 No records were allowed to be kept on how many died from the vaccine, it is any where from 2 million to 10 million depending on what report you read. I think the polio vax killed 1000 people and that was a record. Changes were made so no one else died. No changes were ever made to the covid vax. It is still killing people in the thousands.
Note it is still emergency use only, other wise it would have to be stopped.
