Yes but not as much as some i wish to see go first.
we are all going to die, whether we deserve it or not.

@YourMomsSecretCrush Exactly my thought…

Getting cancer as a child was bad. Spending the next 51 years going for check ups and another 18 operations. Nearly died twice I dont look back but forward seeing my kids grow and grand kids

Death is inevitable, whether you die with an illness or without it.
But I think one always wishes to die in a painless manner.

Didn't know we had a choice. Thought we were all mortal -- you know, the death and taxes thing. As it is, I have two cancers -- they sort of grow on you as you age in most cases , so doesn't really feel like being struck. I guess if you are younger and develop it, it would feel more like being struck. But otherwise it is more a case of the inevitable. I am reminded of when my wife -- who had a long history of cancer in her family -- discovered a lump in her breast. She said, "it actually is a relief. I knew it was coming someday, and now that it is here I can fight it." She actually won that battle. Didn't with the subsequent lung cancer battle. Cigarettes 1, DNA 0.
As far as looking back, no regrets. Came a lot farther, accomplished and experienced far more than I or anyone else ever expected, and am leaving two accomplished and successful generations to keep on truckin'.

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?”

Cancer does not care about that.
I just learned there is a 4% chance I might have colon cancer. I gave a stool sample (that Cologuard test). My test result was positive. They say of those who test positive, 4% had cancer, and 51% had precancerous polyps. So now I need a colonoscopy.
Fun times.

it's not a matter of deserving.
it's simply a fact of life.
it's going to happen to everyone of us sooner or later.
my dad died in his 90s and it was too soon.
was it fair? no...just equal.

Would I feel it was unfair? Maybe a little. But I know that doesn't change anything.

We all die of different things. Whether they deserve it doesn't matter.

No. But there are plenty who think i should.

"Deserve" ? Not for me to say, but it would make more sense than for a younger person. I’ve lived a good life, longer than many of my friends.

Everyone dies, it’s not about deserving it.

I think death will claim its due some day, but it isn't about deserving or not, it just is. Having had a cancer diagnosis before, I found a sense of calm clarity. The things that had to be done became more clear, less scary. Fortunately I survived but from that experience I never felt like I had deserved to die. If anything, my biggest concern was that there are too many people that rely on me that would then struggle without me.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
I have lived my life. That’s why I would be ready to die.

Deserve? We all deserve to die. That's life.
it’s not about deserving, because we all have to die. lol. it’s like breathing air, do any of us deserve it?
