Working as an Amazon driver. I thought it would be a great way to lose weight. And while it achieved desired results, my knees have never recovered.
That job should be investigated much harder. Had a number of coworkers that needed to take medical leaves or have surgeries due to injuries acquired on the job
Be kind to your delivery drivers. These companies have insane quotas that force them to wreck their bodies trying to get you your odds and ends
@ThesebootsRmade4walking Yeah, I refuse to order anything online unless I can't find it anywhere else. I don't really blame customers for wanting nifty little sweatshop trinkets on the cheap. Sure, they're probably lazy and materialistic, but it's too convenient to not use as an alternative to shopping.
But having seen some of the human cost first hand, there's no way I can support these companies, particularly Amazon, in good conscience. The company absolutely can afford to make things easier on their workers, but they want to pursue profit no matter how many trampled skulls it takes
I pulled a quarter ton rolling tool cabinet around a shop floor, carried full 5 gallon buckets up staircases, moved heavy steel over considerable distances, covering 5 to ten miles on my feet every weekday for at least 8 hours. Also knew and still know some that loaded trucks, worked the clutch on a big rig for decades, hoisted roof tiles around on slanted roofs. All sorts of heavy labor.
It's a fact of life that if you don't get enough sleep, indulge in too much sex, don't eat enough beef and other good food or drink too much alcohol you'll have problems. And I suppose there are some men not born with the genetics for a durable and sturdy body but I would hope it's as rare now as it used to be. You might want to try some cartilage suppliments like I've been using the last 25 years off and on. It isn't a cure but it helps.
@TinyViolins I absolutely agree. It is effing disgusting. Something inside knew this wasn't okay and Irid my hands of it and most all other sites like it.. I could give two shits about material stuff. It only weighs me down and holds me back from the true joys of life.
I can think of only one I'm willing to say I'm sure about. It's going to sound rather odd but most ppl in a variety of tradecraft do it without much forethought. Use of my limbs for a substitute clamp or marless vice, pounding surface like a soft anvil or support to drive out roll pins or pop plugs out of utility boxes etc, the butt of the fist as a mallet, teeth as a wire stripper, and my back and legs as a light duty chain hoist.
While occasional use of my body this way in my work was unavoidable and that is not the regret, the regret is that as often as not I did so in the interest of expediency. Now that I'm a well aged man and never truly have to do these things, I forget myself out of habit. That the bruising and healing time has gone from minutes or hours to days and weeks is good reason to never have, as I had, be so arrogant about making a habit of being able to take the pain to get my work done.
I'm getting tremendously better at remembering to be less in a rush but just made that mistake again a few days ago and just yesterday realized I'd heavily bruised myself again. And so now I'll be a gimp f for another few days. And that's annoying as all gitout. If ya get what I mean.
I'm very physical and brutish, I wish I hadn't used my body so roughly when I was younger I'm wiser now, but still do things the tough way I have this belief to use what you are naturally inclined to be I'm naturally big and strong
Skipping meals, eating poorly, and staying up way too late. I didn’t think it mattered at the time, but now I feel the weight of those choices every day. Wait..I'm still doing it.
Many things, allowing myself to get out of shape through a combination of inactivity, eating the wrong foods and massive beer consumption. Also becoming a truck driver, that has lead to a lot of joint damage and pain.
Punching myself in the lower belly during periods. I hope I didn't make myself diverticules. Smoking badly made waterpipes with burnt tobacco at my friend's home when I was 16. Eating habits when I was 17-19.
@MartinTheFirst thankfully i dont have any errors i have 18 and each one were thought out carefully, i did my research, they were all done by the same artist and 100% they came out exactly how i wanted them to.
Letting myself go, falling out of my exercise routine, getting fat, complacent and stagnating, i wish i could let go of my fears the way i let go of my self discipline
