@metaldog I actually tried that when I went to jail. Even with literally nothing else to do, I couldn't force myself to read it. It was just so dense.

How about doing them dishes, laundry and cleaning the car since you will be away for long and please fold the laundry tell the cops to wait for a bit.

Take the remaining time permitted to you, and find the most absurd object you can fit in your trousers pocket. Perhaps a small rubber chicken or some such. Jail personnel legally must record every single item in your possession when you are arrested.
