Cubans not welcome in United States?

DHS secretary warns Cubans not to come to United States. He says you will not come to the US. While the southern border is wide open.
Could it be because most Cubans vote Republican?
The Democrats promise everything they can for those from Mexico and Central
America.
They do not for Cubans and others who suffer under brutal communist rulers because they fear that as per Canel the current ruler of Cuba who too is a tyrant, would not come here and vote Democratic. Not all Cubans, but many want to be out from under the oppression and subjugation of a communist tiler and political party.

Sidebar: If Joe wants to make things easier, then tell Canel, you give up Chesimard which Obama had no stomach for doing and tell the Cuban leader, certain restrictions/sanctions will be lifted.
@soar2newhighs I doubt it. The US expects countries like Cuba to behave like the colony it used to be.

No, saying I will keep destroying your economy until you do what I demand is colonial and extortion.

Extortion is a means to an end so your claims about governments not engaging in extortion is bizarre and contradicted by reality.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow re read my remarks on extortion.
As for being the colony it used to be, sans any other nation’s involvement they’d probably be better off. Why are they protesting and a number of them waving the American flag ?
@soar2newhighs I did. Your comments on extortion don't make sense.

Lol. Ever heard of the NED?

It was a colony till 1959. Until about WW1 the US even referred to Cuba, Puerto Rico and Guam as colonies. Then they came up with euphemisms when that term became less popular. Kicking out the Americans was the unforgivable sin.
They would have to become citizens to vote at all, which would take years. Refugees cannot vote. No one, not even Ted Cruz, is saying Cuban refugees should be granted immediate American citizenship.

At least going by statistics in Florida, older Cubans tend to vote Republican, while younger ones tend to vote Democratic. Overall, two-thirds of Latinos in the U.S. vote Democratic, and one-third vote Republican. They're hardly a solid Democratic bloc the way Black Americans are - or the way rural whites are a solid Republican bloc.

Would you say that the only reason Republicans oppose making Washington, DC and Puerto Rico states is because they would vote Democratic? You people base policy on crass party considerations too.
@LeopoldBloom Yeah, the idea that Cubans vote GOP is a very dated cold war cliche.

When Camelshit Harris went to Miami there were NO supporters only Cubans waving signs that said "No coummunista". Can't have anymore rebelling agains the commie agenda.

White house press secretary Jen P refused to denounce communism in Cuba rather saying the people are upset by "mismanagement". She said out loud what many liberals believe, communism good if run properly. They fail to see that what happened in Cuba is the same everywhere communism is.
curiosi · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou That's why we don't allow the 2nd to be messed with or we will have no chance.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi People are beginning to wake up.

People will drink beer and smoke pot and zone out on their sports, but when the commies start to mess around with their kids, and hurt their kids minds and bodies and spirits in school, that's a whole 'nother ball game. A lot of people are awake now, who were sound asleep before.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi Don't forget to go out and buy an F-15!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Where did you hear the Southern Border is "wide open?"

Last I heard, Mexicans weren't the "good Immigrants" like Scandinavians.

I get it, and maybe you have a point, but the truthful hyperbole crap is not going to win you any points in my book.
@carpediem Cubans aren't special?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@MistyCee Only the demoncrap ones. There are reasonable democrats but they are becoming more and more rare as they move to the independent or -GASP- the republican side.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@ron122 It’s exactly as open as Florida’s coastline.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Not the message.

First, no borders are wide open. Period.

Secondly, the warning was two-fold. Illegal immigrants still won't be tolerated and since migration by sea is among the most dangerous ways of getting here, people are being warned not to risk their lives and the lives of others just to be sent back.
ron122 · 41-45, M
@Graylight The southern border isn't wide open? You know that's a lie
Graylight · 51-55, F
@ron122 The Southern border is not wide open.

Reality counts.
OggggO · 36-40, M
Refugees and illegal immigrants don't vote, for either party.
@OggggO Convenient how they forget that part.
TheRascallyOne · 31-35, M
Oh shit somebody put it together
TexChik · F
Ha, how would any of those dumbasses at DHS know? They dont check anybody. And yes I believe they dont want them here because they would not vote for socialism...like China wants.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
The south border is not wide open - we are turning away all asylum seekers that are not unaccompanied minors.
Funny you should mention Cuba. Most conservatives whine about immigrants getting special treatment. You should look at the perks you get for defecting. Makes it tempting to renounce my Canadian citzenship, become Cuban just so I can defect.

That is the perks of immigrating from a politically useful country.
RedBaron · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow THOSE ARE the perks...And people are from whatever country in which they were born. Nobody can control whether they are "immigrating from a politically useful country," whatever that even means.
@RedBaron It means if you leave a country like Cuba, tell some horror story (true or imagined) and immigrate to the US you will get special privileges no other refugee even has access to. The perks are basically "payment" to use you as a political PR and optics tool. You get perks for playing your role in the cold war foreign policy narrative. This also used to apply to eastern Europe and the USSR at one time too to varying degrees.
carpediem · 61-69, M
Exactly. They're also anticommunist. Can't have that 😒
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
Cubans are amazing people

It is worth remembering the US backed the dictator Bastita who turned on the people and the ultimate revolution was a product of that. The Cuban people were from the frying pan into the fire

Eventually Cuba will open and it’s best for all that they and the US have a favourable relationship

It will benefit all

Good luck
In Trump’s statement he alluded to basically the cessation of protests. Anyone know of via news outlets if there have been further protests? What may have happened? Was Trump accurate?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs Trump is a nutbag clown but nobody knows if protests will continue - people are at work during the week.
@QuixoticSoul some know and the rest of us guess.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs Even the people planning next weekend’s protests don’t know.

Doubtful most Mexicans vote republican and they are getting a free pass right now
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Mrballs I’m Russian. My kids will just be Americans. That’s good enough, no need to pretend you’re something you’re not. Americans have some weird inadequacy issues on this front.
Anyone claiming they’re Swedish/German/whatever because their grandparents emigrated is fucking stupid - and real Swedes/Germans/etc are laughing at them.
😂 that is so true same for Africans who have been here for generations. People tend to cling to heritage a bit too hard. Those southern rebels are some of my favorite ones. “Yee haw I’m repping a flag of a 200 year old loser 😂 @QuixoticSoul

@Mrballs fair point most around here are generations deep and strong republicans
Mrballs · 70-79, M
yes it's because they vote republican. main reason Obama made it harder for Cubans to immigrate to the USA
@Mrballs Lol. Sure. The idea Cubans vote GOP is first off a dated cold war era cliche and stereotype that has not held true for years.

Also to this day Cubans get perks no other immigrants get from any other country and have since 1959. It is bipartisan.

But if you want to live in a red/blue make believe land that is your choice.

There is also the inconvenient fact refugees from anywhere can't vote. Citizenship takes years. So much for your conspiracy theory.

@Mrballs And we will just pretend 1959 to 2017 didn't exist for your little conspiracy theory. lol

Interesting how right wingers love to have different rules for different refugees. I guess you are cool with it as long as you are the right type of "illegal".

Funny how you criticize Obama for doing with Cuba what you clowns scream about them not doing with the southern border. So much for consistency.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Ah, but if you engage in decades of economic warfare you can claim that whatever ‘ism you find inconvenient doesn’t work.

as one unimportant member of the U.S, its ok with me if you come here 🤷‍♀️
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
I guess he doesn't know that there are plenty of Cubans in Florida.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
And was he born from Cuba?

@FreestyleArt He’s on his knees to someone.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
ONLY Cuban cigars
carpediem · 61-69, M
@nedkelly I'm a cigar smoker. Maybe two per week and only the best. I don't like Cuban cigars. Largely because by the time I get them they haven't been properly taken care of. They're dried out and don't draw well. Taste like a leather shoe.

Dominican cigars are the same seed, same growers, from one island over.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
They should be allowed to come in
4meAndyou · F
I got the impression that he was more concerned about drowning deaths than about the way they vote...but it would certainly put a spotlight on all the ways Marxist regimes suck.
That's about the next election. Democrats are a dieing breed, only boomers share their superior greed.
REInvNJ · 61-69, M
Actually no borders or wide open
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
