The Democrats promise everything they can for those from Mexico and Central
America.
They do not for Cubans and others who suffer under brutal communist rulers because they fear that as per Canel the current ruler of Cuba who too is a tyrant, would not come here and vote Democratic. Not all Cubans, but many want to be out from under the oppression and subjugation of a communist tiler and political party.
Sidebar: If Joe wants to make things easier, then tell Canel, you give up Chesimard which Obama had no stomach for doing and tell the Cuban leader, certain restrictions/sanctions will be lifted.

@soar2newhighs Actually, it is the complete opposite. And it is bipartisan. Cuban "exiles" get perks literally no other immigrants do and have since 1959.
It is also hilarious to hear Americans talk about Cuban "tyrants" when the revolution overthrew a US installed military dictator who was in bed with Al Capone.
Oh and FYI according to international law since 1945 collective punishment aka "sanctions" are illegal.
The majority of the suffering in Cuba comes from decades of economic war against them.
Funny how you think improving the lives of Cubans should be dependent on American demands. How very colonial. But you guys don't like that word anymore.

@soar2newhighs Another fun fact. The US invented out of thin air a euphemism for a blockade just for Cuba because an blockade is an act of war.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow is the US the only nation using sanctions around the world since 1945? And don’t put 100% of your trust on international
Law.
Law.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs No, but whataboutisms doesn't change the facts.
And international law literally was created to prevent this kind of imperial extortion bullshit.
And fun fact, laws are not just something you can ignore when you feel like it. That is kind of the point.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow what is the euphemism you refer to? Sanctions?
And if our “ blockade” is an act of war, where is your international Law then? Who is going to do anything about it?

@soar2newhighs Ummm at the time "doing something about it" would have meant a world ending WW3 between the US and the USSR. The US literally got away with this bullying bullshit because nobody wanted to end the human race over it.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So, sadly international law is impotent. This is the world we live in.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs And the euphemism in this case was the "embargo" which was carried out by naval blockade till 1962 which is an act of war.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The naval blockade was a military move. Had nothing to do with sanctions/embargo.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs Actually it did. The embargo was carried out by naval blockade. Unless you are suggesting the US tried to start WW3 over Cuba. lol
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs It was an act of war either way so your distinction makes no difference even if accepted as true.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You remember the crisis, right? Did we know what the Russian ships heading to Cuba had aboard?
More offensive weapons (missiles) that could reach much of the eastern US and /or our Southern states?
So let’s see what your boy, Joe will do or be told to do.
We don’t share the relationship Canada does with Cuba.

@soar2newhighs The blockade started in 59. Nice try.
Oh and you forgot the inconvenient fact the only reason missiles were put in Cuba was because the US put nukes in Turkey which violates the NPT too btw.
In Canada most people have figured out the cold war is over by now and are done LARPing the 1960s.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow well perhaps as I said... they give up Chesimard, Joe might ease things.
Thing is though no one really (except hishandlers) know what Joe might do on his own or what he’s told to do.

@soar2newhighs Again, that is extortion and downright colonial.
And sure, maybe they can get on that as soon as the US makes actual efforts to shut down anti communist terrorists in Miami and release the Cuban 5.

@soar2newhighs I doubt it. The US expects countries like Cuba to behave like the colony it used to be.
No, saying I will keep destroying your economy until you do what I demand is colonial and extortion.
Extortion is a means to an end so your claims about governments not engaging in extortion is bizarre and contradicted by reality.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow re read my remarks on extortion.
As for being the colony it used to be, sans any other nation’s involvement they’d probably be better off. Why are they protesting and a number of them waving the American flag ?

@soar2newhighs I did. Your comments on extortion don't make sense.
Lol. Ever heard of the NED?
It was a colony till 1959. Until about WW1 the US even referred to Cuba, Puerto Rico and Guam as colonies. Then they came up with euphemisms when that term became less popular. Kicking out the Americans was the unforgivable sin.
