I asked a guy whether he cooks or whether he expects women to do all the work?

Is it a rude question? Because he once told me that working women manage household activities as well. It's taken as a given. So my impression of him is that he expects women to do all the work.
Taylor Swift has got 100 songs about breaking up with men..
Zero songs about sammich making..

Just sayin
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout you would think her Swifties would figure out that she was the common denominator in all of those relationships…and get fed up with her whining about the men.
4meAndyou · F
I taught my son to cook. I was working, and he had to start supper. I left him very easy menus and instructions. He made things like french bread pizzas, with pizza quik sauce. Nothing complicated. But it got him into the habit of cooking, and when he became an adult, he became an awesome cook!
@4meAndyou you raised him right. I love cooking.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@4meAndyou Very good.
Casheyane · 31-35, F
Nope. You need to know the answer. It is not rude at all.

As for how he reacts, well then you'd know if it's worth investing more time into seeing where it would go from wherever you two are or not.

Don't invalidate what you need for the sake of sheltering a man's ego. Someone who cares for you and suits you will want to do things that help one another.

But then again, each of us have our different sets of expectations. It is normal to want to find someone who can give you what you need and want.
exexec · 61-69, C
My wife and I take turns cooking. She is a great cook, and we survive my cooking.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@exexec That is good you do it equally
SW-User
Not rude. Nobody wants a dead ass partner that can't do for themselves.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User I don’t mind cooking and doing dishes as long as I have the energy to do it. But when a woman gets incapacitated for some health reason and can’t do it the partner needs to step up to the plate. That’s why it is very important for men to learn to do basic cooking and household chores and laundry. There are some that are too worthless to even attempt to help out with household chores or cooking. I knew an older woman who got breast cancer, lived on a farm and her husband expected her to do everything as usual plus drive herself to Tulsa for medical treatments. Her adult daughters cared for her and then she went to live with one who was going to the university here. She’d go back home about once a month to visit and eventually divorced her husband. They’d been married about 40 years. She went to live with her daughter on the east coast.
Bleak · 36-40, F
I cannot tolerate anyone interfering in my household chores.
My house, my rules. I don’t need help.
My husband often offers me help but I am like,
No thankyou…

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Bleak Yes I have some control issues around the kitchen; everyone get out lol
Bleak · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn Get out means, Get Out.😂😂😂😂

You should always say you dont know how to cook and his reaction will show you if he’s the one
solitaire · 41-45, F
@SW-User He's an acquaintance. When I asked him this question he did not reply to me.

solitaire · 41-45, F
@SW-User Haha. I deleted his number. He's not a romantic partner. A mere acquaintance
novaguy2u · 70-79, M
I began cooking about twenty years back when my wife said that she was sick of cooking and we started eating out of supermarket freezers. I now cook for myself and friends.
novaguy2u · 70-79, M
It's not a rude question. In today's world, where both partners work to contribute to the family home, it is only fair that both share the housework.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I have a old fashion marriage. I all was cook my husband and kids breakfast. I get my husband clothes out for him. I do all the laundry and cleaning. I all was make sure dinner is ready for him when he gets home from work.

Now he does cook on the grill I never touch it. But he takes out the trash and he takes care of the cars and he brings in wood for the fireplace. He mows the grass.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@smileylovesgaming Such a lovely family
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Sounded more like he was hinting the duties would be shared.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Sounds like a mummy's boy tbh... Just keep on walking lol
Teirdalin · 31-35
I love cooking personality. Most guys do i feel.
Yes he does.. you guessed it right
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Don’t forget laundry too 😉
InHeaven · F
sounds like he does. I would not date a guy like that. Women are human not robots to manage everything everything everything. I guess there is reason women are termed a weaker sex
solitaire · 41-45, F
@InHeaven DEFINITELY not dating material. He is an acquaintance. But since he did not reply to my message I deleted his number
justanothername · 51-55, M
It’s not a rude question. It’s a relevant one alright some guys who have an on school or traditional mind set may have a view on what they think is a woman’s job around the house.
Oster1 · M
It's a damn shame, for ANYONE, not to be able to cook. Cooking is the ultimate love, for others! It's actually pathetic.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Oster1 Have known a couple of women, older too, that bragged that they DID NOT COOK…ever. So they never cooked a meal in their life. They married men who were able to take them out for meals every day. She wouldn’t even slap a sandwich together to bring to work for lunch, always went and bought one even if it was a packaged one in a store. But unfortunately one became a widow about the time she retired and she couldn’t afford to keep that up on what she was making in retirement money, and the other divorced in her late 50’s. Imagine having children and never learning to cook anything? What good is it to live in a home with a kitchen?
Ask me the same question.
@solitaire Take everything with a grain of salt on here, at least until you really get to know someone
solitaire · 41-45, F
@Ghostinthemachine I knew the person for a few years. Anyway it's not someone from this site
@solitaire perhaps it’s easier online, but it happens in real life too.
SW-User
Not rude. If he thinks it’s rude than he’s a knucklehead.
it's not rude.
I do a lot of the cooking in the house and I'm proud of it

Since i retired and my wife still works, i make the beds, vaccumn, do the dishes, mop the floors, sweep, yard work. She likes to shop so i dont do that
MrBiginNebraska · 18-21, M
It sounds as though youve jumped to that conclusion based off of something that may not really say what you think it does.
smiler2012 · 61-69
@solitaire he has rather a male chauvenist attitude in this day and age with his idea of womans role this day and age
Steve42 · 56-60, M
Obviously he is not the one for you if you have different expectations.
Really · 80-89, M
whether he cooks or whether he expects women to do all the work?
Are those really the only two alternatives you can imagine ?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
No. Its a good question to ask to gauge his overall views.
pdockal · 56-60, M
I enjoy cooking
riffraffrebel · 26-30, M
i think girls should do it all
Fertilization · 36-40, F
A chauvinist behaviour.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
I cook and do the dishes.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
It's a fair question.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
Red flag dude.
Not rude at all.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I don't think it's a rude question.
I don’t think it’s rude.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Not at all.
I'm not saying you need to be the next MasterChef, but cooking is a basic life skill.
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
he might consider cooking toasting a Pop-tart
Unhinged · 100+
Is he from falakata
solitaire · 41-45, F
@Convivial This guy has a morher and sisters and his wife left him in 1.5 months! I wonder why. He claims he treated her well but I wonder what the real truth is
Convivial · 26-30, F
@solitaire according to his life view maybe he did treat her well...
solitaire · 41-45, F
@Convivial Hmm. It was an arranged marriage. Believe me no Indian woman leaves her husband so soon in an arranged marriage setup especially.
C11111111111111 · 31-35, M
So,,, would YOU be pissed if I ask you to leave the kitchen for me to cook ???
When my late ex fiancee learned I wasn't false bragging about my kitchen skills, I soon became the chief cook, by the last year of her life before she died, it became a demand to the point she'd have screaming tantrums if I was too tired to cook.
