How do you cook the perfect steak?

I tried reverse cooking one last night, and it turned out real good.
On a hot grill. 3 minutes on one side, rotate 90 degrees for perfect grill marks, cook another 3 minutes. Flip and repeat. Pull off grill and let rest 10 minutes. Perfect steak. Only use Ribeye.
@JohnnyNoir make have to try it.
@Sojournersoul 8oz ribeye is now $15.99 around here.
@Sojournersoul Being a former steakhouse cook, I learned the web of hand method.

I like my steak blue so literally seal it in a pan and serve 😋

@SW-User but it’s raw
SW-User
@Monalisaa1986 that’s ok, in fact for a nice bit of fillet steak it’s perfect

@SW-User my pussy tastes like steak ( I’m not a lesbian I just thought I’d share)
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Chop it up. coat it in flour pepper and salt. Cook it in a frypan till its brown and sealed. Then place it in a camp oven with vegetables, a tin of diced tomato poured over with a bay leaf and Worcestshire sauce. Place oven back on the camp fire and leave for 6 hours.

@Thevy29 the campfire part sounds the best bit.,,👍

I use an outdoor gas grill. Make sure stead is room temp, and grill is hot. Good piece of meat, so only olive oil. salt, pepper. Rub it in.

About 3-4 mins per side depending on thickness. Medium rare.

Worlds every time.
I dont’t often eat steak, but when I do, I like it well done. It’s actually possible to prepare a well-done steak that’s still tender; takes a little extra effort, but worth it. 😊
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@bijouxbroussard oh ....do tell!
I like mine well done-ish as well, but I'm having trouble with keeping it tender.
Do you have any tips ?
meggie · F
@NOS4R2 cook it on outdoor barbeque
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@meggie i dont have one
Lilymoon · F
Eh I can never get it right 🤦🏻‍♀️
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Lilymoon I get dressed for the cold and, if i want a steak, i use the outdoor grill. Even when we lived in Iceland, I would BBQ in galebfircevwindes!
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@Vin53 sounds yummy.
Is it cooked on the inside though?
Vin53 · M
@NOS4R2 I get steaks about an inch thick and like it med rare so its perfect for me. Adjust cook time for your preference.
4meAndyou · F
Since your method results in raw meat, I'll assume this is a trick question...🤣🤣🤣
Dirtyboyy67 · 56-60, M
Depending on thickness of steak I shoot for 4-5 minutes per side on a medium hot grill or cast pan. Get it pretty good most of the time.
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@Dirtyboyy67 is the case iron part important ?
Dirtyboyy67 · 56-60, M
Ribbed for steaks @NOS4R2
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@Dirtyboyy67 It just seems such a science .
Maybe that's why I get it wrong .
sree251 · 41-45, M
You guys have got it all wrong. It's not how you cook it. It's what quality of meat you are cooking.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@sree251 if Gordon were here...

sree251 · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 I was assuming that there are no donkeys here.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Reverse cook? You mean like you put it in the fridge?
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@GuyWithOpinions oh har har😂
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
@NOS4R2 im clearly not a chef
NOS4R2 · 36-40
@GuyWithOpinions it just means you slow cook it first in an oven and THEN sear it at the end.
It's more idiot proof😏
idk....always a hit an miss for me....mostly misses. same with baked potato doneness. but i never go wrong with bagged salad and dressing
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Depends on the cut of meat. But the best steak I've ever made was an aged ribeye I cooked on charcoal with a reverse sear vs constant flipping over high heat, constantly basting with clarified butter.

For a thick fatty cut like ribeye, reverse sear to medium rare is always best. If I'm cooking a hanger steak, I'm searing that fucker high and fast and eating it rare.
Don’t forget to season your meat. 😉

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout You folks in Oz really are completely upside down!
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
pan seared in a skillet /w olive oil, butter, salt, pepper (also onion, and fresh herbs depending on cut)
goliathtree · 56-60, M
Blue. Hard sear on both sides only. Salt and pepper only for seasoning...maybe a little crushed garlic.

Over charcoal, medium well.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
On a charcoal grill, to whatever doneness the person eating it prefers. I like medium rare to medium. My go to seasoning is Jane's Krazy Mixed Up Salt.
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
I use a George foreman grill to cook the steaks untill nearly cooked, then brown them off in a frying pan, leave to rest for 5 mins before serving.
