Next time try 7Zip, PeaZip, NanaZip, FreeArc, and p7zip. These are the best open source alternative to WinRAR and they are free

@HumanEarth Thanks :)

Sometimes it pays to be older Windows 3.1

Internet, I wouldn't have internet if it wasn't for my kid moving back home. I think it's a waste of money. Before the kid moved back home, I went to the city every once and while and stopped in at the library with the old laptop

Wasting money on new cars! I much prefer buying used cars that are over 20 years old, often for under a thousand bucks in one payment. Honestly, I think newer cars are a bigger pile of junk than what they made back in the 1990s, and that stuff was poorly made, too. No interest payments, no credit checks, and no hassles. It's just as simple as handing over cash and driving away. You can really save a lot of money this way, especially if you know how to shop for older cars

Dish Washers, Like you have to wash them first to put them in the dish washer and the dish washers still don't get everything off and you have to wash it again. Better off just washing by hand in the first place and saved the money.

New electronics of any kind. Buy out outdated stuff for more then three quarters off of new.

Paying to watch Television. If my roof TV antenna don't pick it up. I don't watch it.

Fastfood, bottled water, Starbucks, online gambling--basically anything trendy or hyped to the gills.

What do I waste money on? Cable-TV, but it has the baseball coverage I want and the occasional other thing I might watch without having to have the right streaming option and newspapers -- yes, plural -- that are mere shadows of what they used to be. But the Cable is bundled with Internet which helps justify the cost, and the newspaper subscriptions help preserve what little journalism is left, plus you cannot beat the tactile feel of newsprint, imho.

Those friendship bracelets at the gas station. I think making your own is what it's all about.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Cable or Internet TV. Yeah I'm on antenna and don't get the latest shows. Yet there is no less commercials on public antenna TV.

Why pay for the same amount of commercials? 🤷🏻‍♂

Water in plastic bottles, the hairdresser, the nail salon, coffee, donuts, and re-usable grocery bags.

Starbucks coffee it's ridiculously expensive
Hair salons, nail salons, Starbucks coffee, Chick-fil-A, hair detangler, Church collection plates etc
HumanEarth · F
Nice thing living in a farming area. We don't have hair salons, nail salons, Starbucks coffee, Chick-fil-A or 95% of big city garbage. We have these little Mom & Pop Stores and Restaurants and one Feed Mill that sells nothing but feed, seed and chemicals.

Forget about coming here and hopping to have cellphone service. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You better dust off your old CB radio and kick it like we're back in the 1970s/80s again. Because cellphones don't work here very well or not at all.

Commercial or cable tv. Nothing on tv worth paying for.
4meAndyou · F
@jackson55 I wish WE had a choice! Management for my building has signed a contract with Comcast, and we are all FORCED to subscribe to their basic tv service. It is taken directly out of our rent.
jackson55 · M
@4meAndyou We had Comcast for several years. We moved, cut the cable and never looked back. We stream what little tv we watch.

Anything containing nicotine (let alone illicit drugs!).

A television and its on-line equivalents.

Any of the Mactuckeycostalottaburger chains' products.

Anything sold in a motorway service-station - if at all possible, including petrol.

Probably anything the Metrocentric, Sunday-supplements' so-called 'lifestyle columnists' imagine, "now we all have / use / do".
