what is the most underrated movie in your opinion?

For me it is Last Samurai

Gusman · 61-69, M
The original Dune.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Gusman Frank Herbert's son continued the dune series and wrote several more books. They are all very good. In some ways, I like the son's books even better.
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
@Gusman whatsizname from Blue Velvet
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Jayciedubb Kyle MacLachlan - Paul Atreides
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
That’s a great movie. And I can’t even stand Tom Cruise!
salwa · F
@Pinkstarburst I don't like Tom cruize movies style but this one was legendary
bugeye · 26-30, F
Batman & Robin (1997)

i recently gave it a rewatch and i absolutely loved it. it's overly goofy cartoony and campy. i died ad the bat credit card, the ice skates and even the terrible ice puns.

it's not my fave batman movie but it's not worth all the negativity that people give it.
bugeye · 26-30, F
@Ducky batbuttcheeks too. XD

but just the concept of the batcredit card kills me. i like to imagine batman in full costume sitting in a bank to open the account. or he forgets the payment one time because he's busy elsewhere and a poor debtor has to find the batcave to leave notices.
@bugeye And Bat Nipples too
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
@bugeye somehow out just fits in there....not good, but really not terribly bad....or maybe it is, but it was hot at the time....❤️
Poppies · 61-69, F
Empire of the Sun. Deserved a lot more attention.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@Poppies Wikipedia agrees with you.

Reception
Edit
Empire of the Sun was given a limited release on 11 December 1987 before being widely released on Christmas Day, 1987. The film earned $22.24 million in North America,[4] and $44.46 million in other countries, accumulating a worldwide total of $66.7 million, earning more than its budget but still considered a box office disappointment by Spielberg.[N 1][
originnone · 61-69, M
@Poppies I don't know if it was under rated. It was outstanding.
Jayciedubb · 56-60, M
@Poppies was that the one with a young ... ..
. .batman ...grrrr what's his name.. american psycho.. but he's really British. Omg! Whats his na Bale! Christian Bail (Bale?) ..or was it the Eddie Murphy one? It must be the CB and John Malkovich one. Huh? Yes. That really was underrated
Ducky · 31-35, F
Watchmen

Released to mixed reviews and doesn't get a whole lot of respect, but I think it's one of the greatest superhero films ever made.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Ducky I loved that one, saw it in the cinemas.
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
The Happening

Came out in 2008. Bird Box copied it.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@AnonymousJSS Bird Box was a strange film. It never resolved.
Ferric67 · M
@AnonymousJSS I remember the happening
CassandraSissy · 26-30, T
@Jacko1971 I see there's some sort of sequel to it, either on Netflix or Amazon Prime....

Tell you what we enjoyed.....going along with the 'Happening' thing, made by M Night...I loved 'The Village' - That was scary and shocking at the same time.

😘
After Hours 1985, one of my favourite films
@bluehead46 Surrender Dorothy! 😀

One that I really liked that many others did not, was the version of Popeye with Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall. It was one of the first ones, long before Batman and endless Marvel movies, to use live actors in a way that looked almost as if it were animated. Shelley Duvall had an uncanny resemblance to Olive Oyl. And I like the fact that the songs were sung (intentionally) with imperfect voices, which made it seem kind of sweet and real.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
Gah there are so many..

The Fountain was really good.
Ferric67 · M
@WhateverWorks I saw the fountain in an empty movie theater....you know those scenes of floating through space? Being in a big empty theater made it feel that much more impactful
WhateverWorks · 36-40
@Ferric67 oh, that would’ve been an epic experience of that movie given the plot and visuals
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
If we are going with today's viewer: the original 'Scarface' (starring Paul Muni)
If we mean overall: 'Easy Money' (Rodney Dangerfield and a young Joe Pesci)
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
@JSul3 and produced by Howard Hughes
JSul3 · 70-79
@thisguy20 Correct. I failed to add that. Bravo.
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
@JSul3 I particularly liked the fact that they made and showed two different endings to the movie (one where Tony is killed by the police when he tries to run; and another where he is arrested, tried, convicted, and hanged)

The Lords of Flatbush.

1932 Tod Browning film Freaks.

Introduced to audiences of the time, an up close view of human beings with abnormalities, within the carnival world. No 'special effects' here!, They go about their daily lives, and routines as the rest of us do....until one of their friends is in danger of being poisoned, by a 'normal' member of their group, and all bets are off and the 'code of the freaks' is enacted.

Edit:
Criterion will be releasing Freaks as part of a Tod Browning Bluray, in October.

The Tenant (French: Le locataire), a 1976 French psychological horror thriller film directed by Roman Polanski.
That film is really excellent, and totally underrated.

To many across too many genres, but will toss out a few.

Check out the 1933 thriller Murders In The Zoo, with Lionel Atwill and Kathleen Burke, and the 1935 She, starring Helen Gahagan and Randolph Scott.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Rutterman · 46-50, M
Electra Glide in Blue is a seriously underrated movie that comes to mind. I'm willing to bet most people have never heard of the film, let alone seen it.
4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
The Postman and Road to Perdition. Coda too, even though it won Oscar, it was only on Apple TV and nobody saw it.
SnailTeeth · 36-40, M
The Man With The Iron Fists

(much like Kill Bill, It's not as good as the genre it pays homage to, but it's good for what it is)
There it is i finally found the perfect cherry blossom

Last Samurai was amazing. I just don't know if it was over rated.
Brazil. Yeah, you prolly never heard of it.
Artsy ....futuristic ....distopian

It was weird, but scarily comentatively accurate on our modern culture .
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@OogieBoogie I saw that one years ago. You described it well.
@Rutterman I was in a picture theater when I first saw it, and when in ended I called out "Noooo!" really loudly .😄

But now I see the world as it's going, and dayum....it's not far from it .
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
