@Gusman Frank Herbert's son continued the dune series and wrote several more books. They are all very good. In some ways, I like the son's books even better.

Batman & Robin (1997)
i recently gave it a rewatch and i absolutely loved it. it's overly goofy cartoony and campy. i died ad the bat credit card, the ice skates and even the terrible ice puns.
it's not my fave batman movie but it's not worth all the negativity that people give it.

@Ducky batbuttcheeks too. XD
but just the concept of the batcredit card kills me. i like to imagine batman in full costume sitting in a bank to open the account. or he forgets the payment one time because he's busy elsewhere and a poor debtor has to find the batcave to leave notices.

@bugeye somehow out just fits in there....not good, but really not terribly bad....or maybe it is, but it was hot at the time....❤️

Empire of the Sun. Deserved a lot more attention.

@Poppies Wikipedia agrees with you.

Released to mixed reviews and doesn't get a whole lot of respect, but I think it's one of the greatest superhero films ever made.

One that I really liked that many others did not, was the version of Popeye with Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall. It was one of the first ones, long before Batman and endless Marvel movies, to use live actors in a way that looked almost as if it were animated. Shelley Duvall had an uncanny resemblance to Olive Oyl. And I like the fact that the songs were sung (intentionally) with imperfect voices, which made it seem kind of sweet and real.

@WhateverWorks I saw the fountain in an empty movie theater....you know those scenes of floating through space? Being in a big empty theater made it feel that much more impactful

@Ferric67 oh, that would’ve been an epic experience of that movie given the plot and visuals

If we are going with today's viewer: the original 'Scarface' (starring Paul Muni)
If we mean overall: 'Easy Money' (Rodney Dangerfield and a young Joe Pesci)

1932 Tod Browning film Freaks.
Introduced to audiences of the time, an up close view of human beings with abnormalities, within the carnival world. No 'special effects' here!, They go about their daily lives, and routines as the rest of us do....until one of their friends is in danger of being poisoned, by a 'normal' member of their group, and all bets are off and the 'code of the freaks' is enacted.
Edit:
Criterion will be releasing Freaks as part of a Tod Browning Bluray, in October.

(much like Kill Bill, It's not as good as the genre it pays homage to, but it's good for what it is)

I actually don't pay much attention to ratings so I don't know. 😅
But I know that one year there were both Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya nominated for Oscar and some complete CGI bullshit won that year. That pissed me off.
