I was a bully [I Was Bullied]

I was a bully at school and bullied one person for a couple of years. Apparently I made his life a nightmare he told a girl I was dating (they were both in the year below me.) I came home from university at Christmas last year and saw him, he’d started going to the gym, he literally picked me up and threw me in a huge pile of mud. All his friends cheered and clapped as I got up, covered. I can’t stand them. I cried for days afterwards, I was so upset. Do you think he was right?
Everyone thinks I deserved it and that he’s so great as he didn’t hit me.

@Strongtea I wouldn't call being a nightmare to someone as "being that bad". Put yourself in his place and see how you would have felt if the tables were turned. It may not have seemed bad to you, but what if someone had done that to your brother or sister if you had one? You would have seen the torment and I don't think you would have liked it. Verbal abuse is just as bad as physical abuse. You are lucky he did not kill himself. Then how would you have felt? You don't know what went through his head. This is how people end up committing suicide, from people who bully them. It's not just an amusing past time. It's serious.

It seems incomprehensible that any person could be so lacking in the astonishing levels of self awareness seen in your posts. Therefore the only possible explanation for the nature of what you post can surely only be that you seek validation by making an absolute cnut of yourself. I wrote this post when I first joined this site and I was a very different person.

I now realise that I was wrong. I just want to say that I spend a lot of time feeling very scared that I meet people who I used to bully. It has really affected my life.

His girlf now works in the Tesco a couple of streets away from me. Everytime I go I she says something to me, other staff, customers. She even has told my parents what I did. It’s so so humiliating, I wish she would just keep quiet.

@Strongtea great, so to grow…use your imagination and travel back in time this time pretending you are the person getting bullied if you try to put yourself in his shoes, and carry that humiliated feeling back in time, pretend you were him, and feel those feeling for two years in your mind…That might help you grow compassion and understanding of him and others. So we learn as a society that this is not wise to do…it is not wise to bully. You are lucky he did not go crazy and decide to use a gun to teach ALL bullies… you’ve gone too far. You are lucky/blessed he chose a healthy way to teach you a lesson.
