Looking isn't cheating. Men and women will look. Esp men as they are even more visual. Glancing is one thing, gawking and leering and coming off creepy is another lol.

@Darksideinthenight2 You have a right to your opinion:)
Degbeme · 70-79, M
My wife told me I could look all I wanted, just don`t touch.

@Degbeme I like this comment ☺️ It just smacks of life experience & straight forward honesty!

Cheating isn't a yes/no it's a very broad grey area spectrum of behaviour that's like "my spouse is uncomfortable" and "my spouse is leaving me" because it's mostly about who you're with and what THEY consider cheating.

Do I consider it? No. I consider it looking to cheat and y'know, that's still a fucking problem but not all things are the same.
BarbossasHusband · 36-40, M
Looking is a side effect of thinking and taking in the surroundings.
One is not responsible for their thoughts, only how they deal with them.
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
I won't ogle a woman while I am with another. When I happen to noticed an attractive woman I purposefully avert my gaze or focus even more intently on the woman I am with. I think it is disrespectful to ogle another in front of someone. Also, I want the person I am with to know she is the most important person in the room to me when we are together. I expect the same from her though.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@RuyLopez Yes I purposely pretend I don't notice lol. My wife is "she is beautiful isn't she?" I answer "oh yes I guess so" :P
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
@JimboSaturn We got the same manual I think... :-)
helenS · 36-40, F
If I took a look at a guy and my "partner" accused me of cheating, that would probably be the last thing he'd ever say to me. 😑
Sb356 · 26-30, F
@JimboSaturn I hope so. These things make me anxious
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Sb356 I don't think it should personally. He sounds like an ok guy.
Sb356 · 26-30, F
@JimboSaturn thank you🙏🏽
4meAndyou · F
Really OBVIOUS "looking", or, as I call it, ogling, is not cheating...but when he or she does it in front of you, or when he or she comes home and TELLS you about almost wrecking the car because he or she saw someone really hot and nearly drove off the road...your S.O. is just a major, major a-hole, and for some reason WANTS to make you feel badly.

Other than that, most of us can't help looking at someone who is really hot. Those of us who are trying really hard to be kind and loving toward our S.O.'s try not to be obvious.
4meAndyou · F
@Degbeme You should move onto the top floors of my apartment building...I usually open the sliding doors to cool off when it is about 35F outside, and don't need to turn on my heat ALL winter.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou Oh I love the heat. 🥰
4meAndyou · F
@Degbeme So do my downstairs neighbors! 🤣🤣🤣 ALL their heat comes right up here through the closed heating unit. Doesn't matter WHAT I do...I can't cool off at times.
Nanori · F
If my partner even breaths in the direction of another woman it's considered cheating, if he's so innocent he could give that carbon dioxide to a tree rather than a hoe
Degbeme · 70-79, M
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Intentions matter. Sometimes my husband and I joke/bond about people we both find hot and it's fun. But we would never act on that.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I think each couple needs to come to an understanding of what the boundaries are.

My wife and I are perfectly comfortable with the knowledge that we each can appreciate someone who is good looking.

Other couples would be uncomfortable with that.

Once, I was with two engaged couples, and one woman punched her fiancé in the arm because she noticed him looking at another woman in the room. In contrast, the woman from the other couple said, "I don't care where he gets his appetite, as long as he comes home for supper."
And on the 8th day.. he created tinted sunglasses…. And sausage McMuffins
chrisCA · M
We would tease married buddies that checked out other women.
A common response was " I maybe married, but I am not dead".
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Glancing and noticing , no.
Activitly looking for someone better, may not be cheating, but it make me question the relationship.
I definitely would tell the person how I feel and if they belittled or didn't take my feelings seriously I probably break up with them.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
My response to these type of questions is the following analogy.

Can you tell your partner about it? That you are "looking"?

If not, then maybe you shouldn't be doing it.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Wow! That’s really interesting. Never thought of it that way before. @SumKindaMunster
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Carissimi Thank you!!! It's a comforting feeling to know you are in a relationship where the other person can be honest with you, and you can be honest with them. It helps add trust.
bopce1 · 41-45, C
My wife and I both feel that it is natural to look but to do it respectfully.
It is whatever you and your significant other agree upon.
There is also the old saying, “It’s ok to look at the menu as long as you go home to eat”
Convivial · 26-30, F
One of my mom's friends once said, i don't care where he gets his appetite, as long as he comes home for his meals
Lhayezee · 26-30, F
I think there's a difference between looking and rubbernecking.

People look, even if they don't need to. I don't want my bf to feel guilty about noticing an attractive woman (or me of an attractive man or woman either!).

Being in a relationship should not mean being unable to appreciate beauty. Otherwise I feel you'd stop seeing it in each other.

(Ok that last sentence is so saccharine I need a brown paper bag, sorry everyone 🤢)
Nope. I observe hotties all the time, I just don’t interact with them because I know myself 💀
Ananke · 26-30, F
Well it depends. Is he actively trying to look at women as in browsing through model's instagram pages and liking them etc. Bc to me that is not necessarily full blown cheating but it is disrespectful and i would not stay w a guy like that.

If he just happens to notice some girl is attractive there's no problem. We can't control who we find attractive and can't just shut that and our thoughts off even if we are with someone we love very much. I adore my husband and would never ever cheat on him but yes sometimes I see guys in public and go "dang." But that's the extent of it. He says he is the same way, it's like you notice someone is attractive, but then you go "but my partner is way better and I love them" and just shrug it off.

I think to be really considered cheating action has to be taken, but you can do things that are disrespectful in a relationship too like the example I gave earlier and also things like watching porn if you havent both agreed you feel ok with that in the relationship.
Viper · M
No, I don't consider it cheating as I don't believe one can control looking, if looking is all it is.

I believe people can control actions, like sexual touch... but looking, breathing, dreaming, as in my opinion, those areas are largely subconscious.

Where I feel like cheating is a conscious decision...

That being said, just because it's not cheating, doesn't mean it's non-offensive... as one can be looking and their significant others there and gets offended... and the significant other could choose to break up with them over that offense... but I don't consider that only cheating...

They looked... so what? Does that means if they listen, that's also cheating?

People by automatic nature look, listen, talk and dream... even little kids whom don't know what sex is yet.

Cheating to me, is a choice where you did something more than automatic nature of what a kid with no real knowledge of sex might do.
Straylight · 31-35, F
Every couple has to decide the rules.
apersonnamedit · 26-30, T
I do because if i catch you scrolling on a dating app or online you obviously want to replace me or think im not good enough
Depends of what you mean by "looking." We all notice and look at attractive people. That's one thing. Looking as in pursuing is another.
Looking isn't cheating since the one looking isn't doing anything that has anything to do with the current relationship.
Patientlywaiting · 46-50, FVIP
No, I tell my husband if I saw a fit bloke, he just laughs cause he knows I know what side my breads buttered.
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
My wife and I have a saying: "If I ever stop looking, I am probably dead. If I ever start touching, I AM DEAD"
No. I will not hold my partner to a standard I cannot meet myself. Hopefully she would do the same.
I don’t think it is if you notice someone attractive. I think it's natural. Its a little different though if you are actively staring and trying to engage that person.

If its something you can do with your partner sitting right next to you. I see nothing wrong. Ive noticed handsome men. Just as my ex noticed Beautiful women. But. Didn't like.. turn our heads and watch or try to get their attention
Dino11 · M
Nope, Even Jimmie Carter admitted he mentally lusted for other women.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Any man who pleasures himself, or fantasizes about a woman who isn’t his partner is cheating. I wonder if all men cheat?
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@helenS I need a dog. 😕
helenS · 36-40, F
@Carissimi It's a life-changer! ❤️
Carissimi · 70-79, F
The dog? I know. My life has never been the same since I lost all my pets. My greatest comforters. @helenS
MasterDvdC · 61-69, M
I have been married twice. Both of my wives told me that they never worried about me looking at other women. It's when I stop looking that they would start worrying. Because then I'm dead, or I'm going to be. Because that means I'm either actually dead. Or I've stopped looking and started sampling. In which case THEY'RE GOING TO KILL ME!
Carissimi · 70-79, F
People look, and can admire others, but if you are with someone, and they are constantly “looking” then that’s disrespectful, and there maybe a problem in your relationship.
Repete · 61-69, M
No. You can look at that delicious chocolate cake all day long and you won’t gain one ounce and the cake will still be there and your diet is still good .
WhateverWorks · 36-40
No, that doesn’t bother me. Just because someone is in a relationship doesn’t mean that everyone else on the planet is suddenly not attractive anymore. Of course, if they have no tact about catching a glance then that I’d consider that pretty disrespectful to me. Disrespect eats away at relationships. I do consider flirting cheating though.

Edit: looking over points in the comment section, I would definitely consider them having a profile on a dating app cheating. I’m OK with one-sided porn, but not interactive or ‘social porn’ platforms.
No its not cheating but gawking for a spell could irritate the spouse and she'd have the right to protest....jealousy is a bitter pill to swallow
DavidB44 · 46-50, M
No I don’t, reason being humans are beautiful creatures and it’s ok to look, not cheating at all, I wouldn’t even second guess it
Entwistle · 56-60, M
You will never know whether your partner is thinking of you or someone else when you are making love. Just a thought.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
No. Can’t stop people from looking. Can’t stop people from fantasizing. Can’t stop people from cheating
Budwick · 70-79, M
Ask your significant other.
They will give you an answer.

Reluctant to ask?
Then, yes it's cheating.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
It doesn't matter where you get your appetite as long as you eat your meals at home!
Neoerectus · M
Wife and I have fun "window shopping"... even pointing out eye candy to each other.

Three second rule applies! You can look, you can't >> Look! <<. If she leans over in a loose shirt however, fair game!
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
No, i only look for a few minutes anyway😁
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
You can check out the menu
As long as you eat at home
Entwistle · 56-60, M
No,we all look. It's natural.

I am not an animal . I am a grown woman with morals , ethics , and wonderful amazing husband . I see nice looking men all the time . So what ? That doesn’t make me want to destroy my marriage and my own self respect . And what about the dignity of those I notice? Nah !
