I'm a republican (well actually a conservative) I liked a lot of Trump's policies but couldn't stand him personally. Never quite understood his need to insult people and use foul language and I wished someone would have taken his cellphone away from him for his entire term. With that being said I also got pretty sick of the democrats attempts to rule by impeachment. Quite honestly I am totally fed up with government and the attitudes of the American people and at this point I just hope i die before the country collapses completely.
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M
@istillhaveanameitsrick Well, I give you credit for at least trying to fight the good fight. That's more than I have done.
@mikeylyksit I would have lost but i was really just trying to get on the ballot and maybe get enough votes to draw attention to how angry the american people are getting. Sadly i am an over-the-road truck driver so i didn't have much time to gather signatures to get on the ballot and my "campaign committee"...sucked. In two weekends i got almost 300 signatures, in two months my "campaign committee" got 12 LOL
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M
@istillhaveanameitsrick OTR is the toughest job in the universe. I pulled open deck for four years myself. Mostly over-sized farm equipment all over US and Canada. But I couldn't handle the stress, so I went back to IT. (you might not get that joke, but there are systems admins all over the world ROFLMAO right now) Anyway, mad respect for thinking you could do OTR and run a campaign of any kind...

If they do, it makes no sense. I’ve seen people here even express the opinion that “Trump was the greatest president we’ve had” which really makes me wonder how corrupt and dishonest they must be as people if he represents what they think a great leader is. I can’t even laugh about it, because it reminds me of the Neo-Nazis who voice the opinion that Hitler “didn’t do anything wrong”. 😳
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@SW-User per Capita polluters is a way to compare how each person is responsible. But we're talking how it affects the globe as a whole. The only thing our globe knows is where the most global warming affects are coming from. It only cares where it is worst.
China puts out the worst conditions for global warming so why are they not paying to combat global warming in bigger amounts?
SW-User
@Muldoon But they are. I've just explained how they're doing FAR more than the US in combatting global warming. Additionally, they've also committed to ending funding for coal power projects around the world.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@SW-User ok.i didn't read the last half of your message.
I'll check more alternative news sites to catch up on what you say about combat global warming.
I'll get back to you on that. I believed the USA dropped below China's total global warming footprint.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
Ron desantis, Candace Owens, Eric Webber or Angela king 3 out of 4 of those candidates are African American would make excellent alternative republican presidential candidates

We are pissed specifically about trump not winning because of the bullshit ass election fraud

Edit how could i forget Kim Klacik who is also African American and would make an excellent alternative republican choice as well
@DeluxedEdition LOL!!! You're barking up the wrong tree! I didn't cite "factcheck.org" I cited USA Today, a middle of the road for-profit newspaper. USA Today has a regular reporter writing a regular column that sometimes checks facts. It's completely different from factcheck.org

As Budwick would say "Swing and a miss!"

DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@ElwoodBlues yeah and I cited local American news stations that have yet to be acknowledged

Your “cites” are right and mine are wrong because you said so 🤫
@DeluxedEdition
Your “cites” are right and mine are wrong because you said so.
Nope. I guess I have to repeat myself. If any of those videos had contained any valid evidence, one of the many lawyers and one of the many judges in Trump's 61 court cases would have picked up on it.

At this point, after all those trials, you are basically trying to claim that you are a better investigator than all the legal teams who brought Trump's 61 cases. We both know that's absurd. Trump had no valid evidence in Nov & Dec 2020, and no new evidence has come to light. I'm sorry to see you're in denial about it, but the simple fact of life is Trump lost.
deadgerbil · 22-25
Probably. Trump has a way of captivating the lowest common denominator. That's why so many people view him as a deity
@Muldoon I never really watched CNN. NPR and BBC are two of my main news sources. But when you consider that Hillary carried New York state (Trump’s birthplace) in 2016, what people told you is at odds with how a majority voted.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@Muldoon Trump had nothing to do with the "decent cost of living" you enjoyed. In fact, it's just the opposite. In 2020, American oil producers were experiencing a glut, so he called OPEC and negotiated a drop in production. We're "enjoying" the benefits of that now in the form of higher gas prices as demand has gone up with the economic recovery under Biden.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard yeah, I lived in upstate NY and they don't like NYC where all the votes are.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Republicans used to be a reasonable alternative, with their own intellectual underpinnings, but that is all gone now 🤷‍♂️
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@QuixoticSoul Agreed, while I didn't always agree with the Republicans of old, they were nowhere near the loonies that are part of the Party now, like MTG, Mutt Gaytz and Blobert who have absolutely no intentions of ANY bi-Partisan legislation that would help make our lives better, it's all about tRump now and all else be damned...
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
It’s not about Trump. It’s about not having these totally out of touch and insane democrats not doing any good for our country.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Keepitsimple or the election fraud
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Keepitsimple but an out of touch and insane Trump would be perfectly ok
brian29715 · 46-50, M
For me it’s not so much Trump, but I want smaller government, and less spending. Government controlled healthcare, healthcare sucks. Government controlled education, education sucks. Government controlled post office, post office sucks.

All these big programs that everyone complains about are run by the government. Give that money back and let free enterprise take over.
brian29715 · 46-50, M
@QuixoticSoul I like what you’re saying, campaign reform, fair and honest elections. I’mall for it. I’m just tired of career politicians who are out of touch with most people and polarizing every topic when they have no standards and sway which ever way the wind blows.
Human1000 · 51-55, M
@brian29715 lol, because you want smaller government and less spending. Okay, Super chief.
Ynotisay · M
Some. Although it appears others were set on JFK Jr. At the end of the day they'll do what they're told to do.
Ynotisay · M
@bijouxbroussard Waiting for a 104 year old man. Talk about not thinking things through...
@bijouxbroussard I think they're expecting him to rise from the dead like Jesus.
@LordShadowfire It will probably be similar after Trump dies.
Think? I don't believe they do that. Lol
SW-User
@Ynotisay Not adult/mature enough for you? I cannot say I like the grown up world much where people are unkind, insulting, form groups to put down others, fight and even start wars... a world where adults/mature people bully those who aren't just like them or have the same experiences, needs and values.
So far, only two comments I've read are decent and give a fair and accurate thought to the post.
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User And yet, you shared a dismissive, mean-spirited and immature emoji. Interesting.
Have a good one.
SW-User
@Ynotisay lmao! If you found that so mean spirited, you have no sense of humor!!
Immature, yes. I never claimed to be so grown up that there is no kid or humor in me.
Because you are a Republican does not mean you will vote for Trump if he stays in politics and runs in ‘24.

There is a fair amount of time between now and then and many things that occur in that time may well have an impact on how people vote despite their current political leaning.
@soar2newhighs Exactly. Who knows what will happen, just within the next 12 months? Unless you are a fortune teller 😆.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
Right now, around 47% of Republican voters want Trump to be the nominee. Next is DeSantis with around 11% support, followed by Mike Pence with around 9%, and everyone else below that. If Trump declared his candidacy, I'm sure his support would go up. But it's safe to say that at the moment, a majority of Republicans either prefer someone else or are undecided.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Lila15 And if Trump gets the nod, there will be enough anti trump sentiment to make sure the Dems get up again.. Go Trump!!
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Careful what you wish for, there was just barely enough anti-Trump sentiment last time. About 40,000 more strategically placed Trump votes and he’d still be in the White House even though he lost the popular vote by 7 million, and I’m going to go out on a limb and guess Biden’s at least 40,000 votes less popular now than he was at this time last year.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Theyitis Your are of course quite correct. And I wouldnt wish Trump on my worst enemy. (Actually, that is exactly who I would wish Trump on) But a coulple of things have changed. First the mess that Trump caused POST election with his stolen election BS.. Secondly January 6 and the legal blowback that is going to keep coming out of that. Then there is the stiffer resistance he is getting now from the party itself. Of course he is out fundraising the Party right now handsomely. And turning as much as possible into income for his failing resorts. That wont make a blind bit of difference to Trump Loyalists. But it will mean a number of unTrump sitting naminees will be light on campaign funding. On the other hand, Trump Nominees have yet to show any real value in contests against Democrats. Indeed if Virginia shows anything its that keeping Trump at arms length might help. There are a lot of cards still in play here. But I dont see many converts to Trump since November.😷
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M
The only Republican candidates I have seen who would be a better pick than Trump...

Are on record as being hard-core Trump supporters.

You need to think of the Presidential election as being not just about the top guy, but the team he will assemble, the people who do the real work. Trump has the support to build an awesome team. That makes him the best choice, by far. Sure, there are people better qualified to be the Republican nominee. But they (for the most part) all want to join the Trump team. SO BE IT.
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard If you've been paying attention, you would know that rich people have been leaving the US in ever-increasing numbers recently. Rich people don't care about taxes or even the threat of higher taxes. They really, REALLY don't like socialist agendas, however. Also, how do you define the "middle class"? Over the years, the definition has warped a bit. What we used to call lower class now includes about 70% of people who are defined as "middle class". Do you know what UBI is? Do you know what every healthcare reform idea has in common? I could go on and on. The bottom line is, if things don't change FAST...
The US is going to be comprised of 50% "undocumented immigrants" and 50% people so poor that they can't afford to see a doctor, ever. Unless they go to an emergency room. But by then, most of the hospitals will probably be bull-dozed to build more Wal-Mart Supercenters. And the Wally World will be the best employer in just about any town, proud to pay a staggering 10 bucks per hour with no benefits. For managers.
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M
@monte3 https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/trump-administration-accomplishments/
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M

Trump appeals to radicalized people. He is a disgrace, Just as Melania....
Jeffrey53 · 51-55, M

spjennifer · 56-60, T
Appears like some in the Party wanted JFK Jr. as VP who would then become President if anything happened to the old geezer tRump. Can't think of a more laughable scenario as JFK Jr. was a staunch Democrat. It would appear also that many in the Party are totally delusional 😆
SW-User
Trump 🤣🤣🤣

I can't help but laugh at that guy, he's comedy gold. It's like watching a walrus trying to rollerskate 🤣
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Trump f-d up on that one. Definitely!

@SW-User I'll hand it to ya. It's funny in the way you stuck Trump's head on that little kid. I'll laugh with you!

@Muldoon I didn't do it but it is funny. I'm not a Trump fan, that doesn't mean that I'm anti-Republican though. I just find Trump funny.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Yes, they do want him back.... because of his massive fan base.. but the reality of that is that they are half-wits, literally.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Adaydreambeliever if were so massive why wouldn't someone think that he wouldn't win🤧 i don't think trump supports are the dim wits oooop
Rose0415 · 36-40, F
I agree. If they really want to stick it to the Dems, they should come up with someone better.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Well the dems had over 4 years to find a suitable President and vp
black4white · 56-60, M
@MarineBob And the funny thing is the reps have the EXACT same amount of time
I honestly don't care who is after Brandon, as long as it's a conservative.
I am actually kind of worried. Because you are already seeing Trump's rhetoric repackaged and coated in euphemisms to make it more palatable to the suburban crowd while still obvious enough to the most reactionary idiots in "the base." A slicker, more charismatic version of him could easily come into it and take over his supporters and be a real dangerous force.
Lostpoet · M
No. Most of the party is still trying to figure out how he got in.
Nah, just honest liberty fighters like him.

@JesseInTX
That is quite possibly the most ignorant statement I’ve ever read on here, any social media or any news site. Top 5 at least.

@JesseInTX No she didn't, she conceded within hours🤣

She won the popular vote, yes, but not the election🤣
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@JesseInTX Hillary never said she lost due to fraud. And Trump and his supporters aren't "questioning" the election; they're saying that it had to be fraudulent because he lost.

That demonstrates how depraved and morally bankrupt the Republicans are.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard no I don't participate in KKK outings.
I've never met one but his profile mentions antifa. That's why I asked him since he said all Republicans are morally bankrupt.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@Muldoon Antifa is not an organized group the way the KKK is.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@Lila15 Where did I say antifa is an organized group? I could care less about antifa but go ahead and share your unrelated tid bit. Hope you feel better.

Honestly I am not sure 🤔, it makes no sense at all for even hard core “conservatives “ to support such a horrible candidate.

I would think there are a lot of people that the Republicans would like....other than those in power now.

ted cruz or ron desantis
@boudinMan DeSantis certainly seems to want to. Cruz is a walking joke.

@boudinMan Neither of them would get much further than their own State, Desnotis is an idiot and Cruz is a coward...

Would they tell you the truth in a poll?
bowman81 · M
@Stopmakingsense Of course not. All this silly poll driven decision making is a joke. Most are not polls at all. They are push polls carefully crafted to guide folks into the answers the pollsters want. Instead of using polls to find out public opinion they use them to shape it.

@Sharon1 I still say he should have his own line of cigars.
Human1000 · 51-55, M
I think many would prefer it not be Trump, but someone "Trumpy" without being quite so virulently and obviously evil. Not because they really mind, but it's exhausting for them to daily rationalize his most repulsive and authoritarian impulses.

It's tough work to describe January 6 as both a "false flag operation" and just some patriots who got lost on a tour.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I don't know most Republicans, but my gut tells me that he's a tough sell to moderates.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@uncalled4 The scary thing is, he doesn’t really need many moderates to win. Our archaic election system gives too much disproportionate power to rural, white areas. If Trump just had like 40,000 or maybe less than that strategically placed more votes he would have won in 2020 in spite of losing the popular vote by 7 million!
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Theyitis I think a lot of people are tired of him.
