Do most Republicans ONLY want Trump back, and no one else?

Sure seems that way. I am not a Republican, but surely they can think of a better candidate for 2024.

If they do, it makes no sense. I’ve seen people here even express the opinion that “Trump was the greatest president we’ve had” which really makes me wonder how corrupt and dishonest they must be as people if he represents what they think a great leader is. I can’t even laugh about it, because it reminds me of the Neo-Nazis who voice the opinion that Hitler “didn’t do anything wrong”. 😳

@bijouxbroussard I know the Dems have been trying to find an I gotcha moment for sometime.
Tell us what Trump has been found guilty of?
SW-User
@Muldoon He hasn't been found guilty of anything, for the simple reason that Congress protected him.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@SW-User Until then they are baseless accusations like Russian collusion, dossier, two impeachment trials that failed to remove him..the last one that didn't even have a trial.
Maddow on CNN has held these opinions for some time with no concrete evidence but the media keeps telling us stuff that is covering for Biden. CNN opinion news has ommissions to their facts, as well.
@Muldoon
Tell us what Trump has been found guilty of?
“Us” ? People who support democracy and our Constitution already know. Only Trump cultists are still pretending to be confused.
Attempting to intimidate a state official into “finding” him votes that didn’t exist is pretty huge. Filing frivolous lawsuits in the states he lost (and losing each suit) was a waste of effort and taxpayer money. Claiming that the other party “stole” the election and encouraging his supporters to “march” on the Capitol is also pretty ridiculous. Being part of an insurrection where lives were lost and his supporters actually threatened to lynch the VP for not going along, was outrageous.
@Muldoon I guess that means you’ve accepted that Hillary was innocent in Benghazi.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Eho has been arrested for insurrection? I know there have been misdemeanors handed down but who has been arrested for insurrection? All I know is one person was sent home for a violation of his civil rights but that's on the jail staff.
Trump was accused of finding votes but it has been thrown out.
Trump told protesters to peacefully March but still no insurrection charged out of 500 political prisoners are still being held for an insurrection that wasn't an insurrrction.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Hillary was the Secretary of State when it happened and Obama was President. That's on them for not having security to handle the 'demonstration.'
@Muldoon And Trump was a sitting president when he encouraged his supporters to stage an insurrection simply because he lost his reelection bid. But according to you, if he’s not going to jail, no harm, no foul, right ?
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I certainly admire your class when sticking up for your party as I do for mine.
Trump was in office on Jan 6 when he encouraged peaceful protests. Rachel Maddow won't tell you that. It's not like Trump literally said the word insurrection.
@MuldoonTrump didn’t encourage anything peaceful, and he’s always been quite proud of the fact that his supporters are okay with violence.
I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.

@bijouxbroussard that quote was years ago (Jan 2016). It definitely is brash. What he was referring to was not posted which was how he was describing his loyal fanbase. It was a euphemism but like most FAKE NEWS it was taken out of context to fit the liberal narrative.
@Muldoon No, he actually said it, and he meant it. He was trying to illustrate how loyal his base is, but in fact he revealed how crazy many of them are. And as we saw on January 6, he wasn’t mistaken. One of the only true things he’s ever said.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I respect your opinion but I took it as a euphemism and all euphemisms are brash.
I know democrats like charity and that's a good trait of the democrat party but they want to give our taxes out to the needy and they have no limits.
The southern border should be closed and immigrants should be vetted and made to wait their turn like it's been done for years. The immigrants that went through the vetting process are upset with Biden and will vote for Trump.
No other country takes in more immigrants than the USA and Republicans are asking, When is enough? No other country takes in the #'s like we do. That's not fair just like global warming is expecting the USA to carry the brunt of the costs to global warming when India and China pollute the most of any country but they aren't paying for it.
@Muldoon This will probably blow your mind, but I don’t support illegal immigration. I do believe that “charity begins at home” and I’ve volunteered with the homeless, including, sadly, more than a few of our veterans. I supported the ACA because we need a healthcare plan for our people who fall through the cracks.
I don’t have a problem with people here illegally being deported—including those here because they let their school and work visas expire, or who came through the other border.

But the problem I have with people like Trump and his supporters is that they only seem to object to people of color coming here. Trump has actually said he wants more European immigrants—remember the “sh*thole countries” comment, when he expressed a preference for immigrants “from places like Norway” ? He couldn’t have made his position any clearer. And he attempted to make changes on those who legally come here based upon that premise. Trump plays on the racism that still exists in this country, and there’s no getting around that.

@bijouxbroussard I don't hear whites complaining about blacks. I'm im mixed company often and we all see each other as God's children. If we didn't think that, we couldn't get along.
There are people that want to keep their respective race as pure as possible but I think the majority know we'll all be some shade of brown in the future.
@Muldoon I see whites here complaining about blacks. Half the people I’ve blocked. Perhaps you wouldn’t see it in mixed company, where everyone gets along. I don’t see it among my friends or family members, either. But I occasionally still encounter racism. Like many black people, I don’t share that with white loved ones, what can they do except feel bad for me ?
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I hear it from people outside of my circle but they stop when they see I'm near by.
I did it when I was way younger as a mere copycat. But when I saw a white guy do a black guy wrong and I saw the hurt in his eyes I vowed I would never, everrr treat another human being like that.
Other than that I voted for Trump, sorry about that.
SW-User
@Muldoon Of course the two impeachment trials failed to remove him. They're not legal trials. Republican Senators ignored the evidence, or purposely didn't want to hear it, and simply acquitted along party lines. Why do you think they refused to subpoena witnesses who would have sunk Trump within seconds?
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@SW-User I was referring to the attempts Democrats have taken to take Trump out of office but so many have failed. Well, all of them have failed.
@Muldoon Actually, they succeeded in November 2020.
SW-User
@Muldoon
It's not like Trump literally said the word insurrection

He may not have done, but he did say

Fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore!

Peaceful...?
SW-User
@Muldoon The Democrats knew it would fail. Contrary to what you believe they're not stupid. But the process damaged him. Also, never forget that Republicans did vote to convict him, especially second time around.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@SW-User Trump is not a politician by trade and he has lots to learn about diplomacy.
SW-User
@Muldoon Exactly. That's why he's no longer president.
@Muldoon Trump’s nastiness goes far beyond being unaware of diplomacy. He simply has no manners. And he feels no need to treat anyone with human respect unless he wants something from them.
