Do most Republicans ONLY want Trump back, and no one else?

Sure seems that way. I am not a Republican, but surely they can think of a better candidate for 2024.

The only Republican candidates I have seen who would be a better pick than Trump...

Are on record as being hard-core Trump supporters.

You need to think of the Presidential election as being not just about the top guy, but the team he will assemble, the people who do the real work. Trump has the support to build an awesome team. That makes him the best choice, by far. Sure, there are people better qualified to be the Republican nominee. But they (for the most part) all want to join the Trump team. SO BE IT.

@mikeylyksit That is true, sadly. Most Republicans, despite pretending to crave more individual freedom, are DESPERATE to have a leader who will simply tell them WHAT TO DO, HOW TO DO IT and WHEN TO DO IT; essentially a dictator.

If Trump gets back into power, America will become a dictatorship. And the scary thing is, a lot of Americans would be just fine with it.

@SW-User I hope you are aware that the country has been swinging socialist for quite a while now, and that trend took a sharp upturn over the past several months. Not coincidentally. And this was not caused or hastened by Covid-19 in any manner, either...
@mikeylyksit This country is not even close to bring socialist and never has been. As long as billionaires exist here and the middle class pays a higher percentage of taxes, socialism is not even a possibility. Most of the people in the U.S. have no idea what socialism is.

@bijouxbroussard Absolutely right. And, interestingly, the few aspects that could be characterized as socialist are staunchly defended by Republicans as well as Democrats. Consider Medicare, Social Security, and COVID stimulus payments. Did you know even one Republican who didn't cash the stimulus check, or who refused to participate in Medicare?

@mikeylyksit “trump has the support to build an awesome team”. Yeah that team of Rudy G., Kraken Girl and the rest of the “d” listers he had was awesome 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Maybe in another reality.
And trump is January 6th, that attempt to end democracy is his only legacy.
@SW-User Sad, but true.

@bijouxbroussard If you've been paying attention, you would know that rich people have been leaving the US in ever-increasing numbers recently. Rich people don't care about taxes or even the threat of higher taxes. They really, REALLY don't like socialist agendas, however. Also, how do you define the "middle class"? Over the years, the definition has warped a bit. What we used to call lower class now includes about 70% of people who are defined as "middle class". Do you know what UBI is? Do you know what every healthcare reform idea has in common? I could go on and on. The bottom line is, if things don't change FAST...
The US is going to be comprised of 50% "undocumented immigrants" and 50% people so poor that they can't afford to see a doctor, ever. Unless they go to an emergency room. But by then, most of the hospitals will probably be bull-dozed to build more Wal-Mart Supercenters. And the Wally World will be the best employer in just about any town, proud to pay a staggering 10 bucks per hour with no benefits. For managers.

@monte3 I'm afraid the 2024 election is not going to go your way...
