Do you talk slow, or fast?

Are you pretty even toned when talking, or animated/emotional?
SarahAndSamantha · 46-50, F
I THOUGHT I talked slow....then I experienced Alabama.

I'm pretty animated when I talk. But if I suddenly start talking veryyy slowly, even toned and calm, I'm right next to my breaking point
SarahAndSamantha · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire I haven't passed it very much. I know it's my last ditch effort to calm myself down. A friend of mine saw me at that point once, not passed it, but pretty damn close. For context, I'm 5'8", about 160 at the time, not very physically intimidating. He's 6'5", around 300 then, I once saw the man pick up a washing machine that was still filled with water and casually walk it over by himself and put it on a truck. I have no delusions, he would tear me into little pieces if we fought, easily. He told me later that he was terrified when I started talking like that.

@sarabee1995 I see you're from the land of the hyper fast talkers. I'm from KANSAS and still had to slow my speech down when I was there lol
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@SarahAndSamantha @sarabee1995 I think it has something to do with Banjos.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
I'm from the northeastern USA (as you know). What we call slow is fast beyond comprehension in other places. 🤣
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
I speak slowly....to the point that a few of my school friends gave me the nickname “Slow” (it wasn’t that I was unintelligent, just that I would think before speaking or acting).
i'm pretty even toned...but when i get interrupted i get animated/emotional.... let me speak as i will let one speak...i hate being interrupted
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I speak slowly and softly. It forces people to listen.

The louder someone is, the less I listen. I’ve never met an intelligent yeller.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
All of the above. I can be loud and animated when I’m talking and laughing at the same time. Have to be in a comfortable environment for that though, so it happens mostly at home, at work, or when I’m surrounded by those I can really be myself with. Feeling anxious can make me a fast talker all by itself. But when I’m tired or trying to teach my young coworkers how to do something I talk slow and even toned so they can tune in with minimal distractions.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Coralmist fast and if i am worked up faster peole do not always understand or catch what i say lol
@smiler2012 Same here. And then they ask me to repeat myself, which I hate, so I get even more worked up.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
It depends on the person and subject.

I had to give a talk recently online. The whole time, I spoke to the camera, and all I could see were my slides on my screen. I could not tell if anybody understood me. I used hand-gestures for imaginary people. I think they saw me off to the side in a small box. Gosh, I hate remote work, when it comes to presentations. The only benefit is being able to share files and not have to have handouts.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
I can talk pretty fast.

Maybe not as fast as the guy in the FedEx, Minute Rice and Micro Machine commercials, but still pretty fast.

and I can also talk very slow.

Usually when I'm agitated, I have a tendency to talk fast, and in those moments, I try to slow down the pace of my speech to try to lessen my agitation.

But for the most part I'm pretty even toned.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I can be either way.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@DrWatson Same

I am a good cross of both and get animated quite easily in a good way. No boring monotone stories and such. The Italian in me gets my hands into the speech too. LOL
LilPrincess · 41-45, F
I talk really fast when im excited about something that it sounds like someone hit fast forward on a Reba McEntire video 😒
Ontheroad · M
I've learned to put my brain in gear before putting my mouth in motion... so yes, I do choose my words and speak rather slowly.
MissingLink · 51-55, M
I'm pretty even toned, but i do move my hands a lot with out realizing it.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@MissingLink I do too lol👋🏼
My natural way of talking is very fast but my teacher/Telephone speed is much slower and clearer.
HumanEarth · 56-60, M
I talk some what fast and I talk with my hands a lot.

If you were to hand cuff my hands. I would shut up
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Depends, mostly normal or fast (I can get pretty excited about things).
I talk in a strong way with a soft voice ..
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
I talk fast when I'm nervous or anxious.
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
I had to slow down when I moved to Oklahoma 😂😂
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M

GlitterEater · 36-40, F

Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Slow, deliberate. People say I enunciate each word.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard My wife would like you!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
I prefer to talk in a slow, measured pace to give me time to think. If I talk faster it is usually because I sm under stress.
Jexie · 26-30, F
I can be everything depending on the occasion. But normally my voice is pretty even paced and toned.
It depends on the mood I'm in. When I'm calm, I talk about medium fast. The more excited I get, the faster I talk.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
im often told I speak too fast
