Should a 12 year old be allowed to get a tattoo of their choice ?

cant smoke
cant drink
cant vote
cant tattoo
cant pierce..

but we can experiment with their gender and send them off to war...
TrashCat · M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout and scare them with stories about a fake God and eternal damnation letting them be raped by clergy
Raaii · 22-25, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout in our communities here piercing is quite common
Most of us have ear piercings since we were small 🙇‍♀️
Baremine · 70-79, C
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout war at 18. Gender indoctrinated in kindergarten. This country is really screwed up.
No, if they want a tattoo it needs to be an anchor or topless mermaid on their forearm. Thats the rules
@Anielka The rules are the rules
Anielka · F
@Ozymandiaz so you're saying it's the same tattoo if it's a girl?
@Anielka that’s the rules
No, unless it is temporary
Ontheroad · M
No, but I do think open discussion about the idea, pros, cons, why they want it, etc., is needed.
krass · 31-35
@Ontheroad So if a 12 year old wanted their covered in a single tattoo they should be respected and allowed ?
Ontheroad · M
@krass Really, that's what you understood from my comment? I said you should not offhandedly reject their thoughts and I said you should set boundaries.

In other words, learn to respect people, including a 12-year-old. Set boundaries, but show some respect.
krass · 31-35
@Ontheroad your explanation was ill explained and a little bit of non sense as it didn't address the issue very well
onewithshoes · 22-25, F
No , but in and age when 12 year olds are being permitted to choose their own gender and have their bodies modified accordingly it seems rather stupid to worry about tattoos.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@onewithshoes at 12 we knew everything lol
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
I guess it depends on their culture.

I was 38 when I got my first tattoo.
@AlchemyFox 😊😊😊😊😊
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Sojournersoul just messing with you hun 😘
@AlchemyFox I know, anytime
SW-User
I don't see the harm in that as long as it's done safely but they may regret it later down the line that's the only issue
Dawgsfan3 · 41-45, M
@SW-User I agree
bugeye · 26-30, F
at that young i'd say no to a permanent one. but temporary tattoos are a viable option for now.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
No, way too young to make such a permanent decision. I did go to school with a ten yr old who had tattoos and a Mohawk all the time back when I was in elementary. Wonder where he is today
@Notsimilarreally I seriously doubt any ten year old kid with a mohawk and tattoos had positive enough parental guidance to encourage even community college.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 well likely not. But people are pretty amazing and he could have taken a different path at some point in life. Situations change. Never know
@Notsimilarreally Hopefully, but in my 53 years of observance, it's very rare.
Baremine · 70-79, C
Better a tattoo than a sex change like our government pushes.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
I got a tattoo when i was 16 to commemorate someone who died.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No - more accurately, allowed no tattoo.

I'm not sure but I think it would be illegal in the UK anyway. Possibly other countries too.

(I've never understood the appeal of tattoos, but if an adult wants to be tattooed by his or her own volition - not pressured into it by anyone including, relatives, friends or partners - that's a matter of personal choice.)
Fairydust · F
Absolutely not, that’s crazy.
The thing about tattoos is a lot of people end up not wanting them after 10 or 20 years. That's why I've never gotten one. Peoples' taste I think changes over time.
krass · 31-35
@Spoiledbrat should they be allowed?
@krass I don't think so. Not until they're 18.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I would say no
SW-User
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
No
when my kids asked about getting a tattoo, i basically said....... sure, when you get a job and pay for it. then you can have a tattoo. LOL
Raaii · 22-25, F
Noo idea
I just saw on a family vlog yt channel
A little girl getting a tattoo
She likes it now but may be in future she'll not like it
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I feel like it's none of my business but I think it would be a very bad idea. If I were a tattoo artist, I would set the minimum age to 18.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
middle school girls running around with tramp stamps, and people wonder why we lost hope in humanity... 🤔
Jake966 · 56-60, M
Didn’t know they could get one
krass · 31-35
@Jake966 never said they did
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@krass then why ask ? If they can’t then it’s not up for discussion
krass · 31-35
@Jake966 they can if their parents agree
TrashCat · M
Absofuckinglutely not.
At age 12, they are incapable of making these decisions
LemonWorld · 36-40, F
No.. they are still growing and it will look horrible fast.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
It depends, can you vet the tattoo?
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@Longpatrol I had a classmate when I was 13 get a massive dragon wing tattooed across his back. Nobody knew till we were about 15-16 changing for PE. So if the teachers can't see it on a daily basis(because this later applies to worklife and managers) I think go ahead.
Kirin4OTK · 70-79, M
Is this a joke??? A 12-year old??? Absolutely not. 🤬
Bumbles · 51-55, M
Only if it’s a face tattoo of Satan.
Casheyane · F
Henna. Nothing permanent.
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
No. They can wait until 18, and if they still want to, there will still be artists willing to do it.
SW-User
No tattoo at 12 ..too young
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
Sure!! Full sleeve!!
Torsten · 36-40, M
absolutely not
Dawgsfan3 · 41-45, M
A temporary one
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
A 12 year old with 72 months experience can get what ever kind of tattoo they want. Anything younger than that is a big no.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ArishMell A twelve year old with 72 months experience makes one 18 which is the age of majority here in Canada. At 18 you are considered an adult.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Ah, but you didn't say that. Your words implied a 12yo can choose to be tattooed!

The Age of Majority is 18 in the UK too.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ArishMell If you have 72 months of experience of being 12 years old how old are you?
Convivial · 26-30, F
No... Just no
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
How bout No?
HannahSky · F
No, too young
Sazzio · 31-35, M
