No, but I do think open discussion about the idea, pros, cons, why they want it, etc., is needed.

@krass That may be, but if the 12-year-old wants it, then they have a reason for wanting it. Respecting them while setting boundaries is necessary for both the parent and the child.

@krass Really, that's what you understood from my comment? I said you should not offhandedly reject their thoughts and I said you should set boundaries.

In other words, learn to respect people, including a 12-year-old. Set boundaries, but show some respect.
