No..I got student loans and paid them off myself.
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
Yes, and I’m still their proudest financial investment. Right after the air fryer.
Iwillwait · M
@mindstruggle Bet you smell better though.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@mindstruggle Well, air fryers ARE special.
LordBarbossa · 36-40, T
I'm Norwegian. Aside from university which costs about 65usd pr semester, and the books for high school and up, it's free.
bowman81 · M
No, but the fact that my father died young enabled me to collect Veteran and SS benefits after I was 18yrs old helped. (It only amounted to $110/month) The rest I paid by working summers at a steel mill and part time at a party store through the school year.
AlienTheExtraterrestrial · 36-40, F
Supported me during primary and secondary school didn't pay for or support me for higher education. My mom would have helped if I needed her to and she could have
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
Well obviously through pre-school, primary, intermediate and secondary schooling I was living at home so in that sense yes. Once I left home I paid for everything. Probably just as well because they were killed just before my 19th birthday.
goliathtree · 56-60, M
No. Out of pocket. Worked full time. No scholarship, no financial aid, no loans, no help from home. Slept on a matress on the floor in a basement for $25 a month. Ate out of a crockpot most of the time. When I graduated, I had $32 and a full tank of gas and lived in my truck in the parking lot of my first job for 9 days until I got my first paycheck...in January, in Wisconsin.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@goliathtree you went to UHK?
goliathtree · 56-60, M
@Ambroseguy80 Double major.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
I got a free ride through bachelor's degree but paid my way through master's. Paid them back for the early support after I started earning income. College for me wasn't all that expensive back then.
ElwoodBlues · M
My parents paid my way thru bachelor's degree. Graduate school was paid for by various assistantships I qualified for, so I guess you could sorta say I paid for grad school.
bijouxbroussard · F
A big part of it. I also subsidized my day to day expenses with part time jobs. Once I was working I paid them back.
Iwillwait · M
I'm a round about way yes. I never had formal education,y learning came through "Live n Learn" experiences, coupled by consequences.
HiFiRaver · 18-21, M
Yeah. I'm fortunate. I'm starting my second year of college this fall. I haven't had to take out any loans.
LamontCranston · M
@HiFiRaver My college had the classic gothic architecture. It still gives me a thrill to go back to the campus and walk around. Four years I would love to live again--with more appreciation this time.
I did have to work part time and summer jobs to help out with the expense.

Mamapolo2016 · F
My folks gave me what they could. I had the good luck to land positions as dorm supervisor for the last three years, and scholarships.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
Education was, and still is, free up to the age of 18. I got a grant to go to university, but I had to pay for further professional qualifications, with some assistance from my employer.
Students in the UK now receive loans from the local authority, but the terms are more favourable than other lenders.

hunkalove · 70-79, M
I had a scholarship based on my father's income. If I'd had to pay for it I wouldn't have gone. Only reason I graduated was to avoid the draft.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@hunkalove Thats a motivator, right there..😷
BamPow · 51-55, M
No. They didn’t even pay for school supplies and clothes when I was in high school. I was pretty much on my own early.
BrandNewMan · M
They paid about 35-40%, I worked and/or borrowed the rest. My employer paid for my master's.
ToLivePeacefully · 31-35, M
They did, they took care of everything until I got my first salary after college.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Combination of parents and grandfather. We did the same for our kid.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
No. I did. And for my kids education.. and making a contribution to my grandchildren.. Education is more important than ever,,😷
swirlie · 31-35
No, they did not. I entered university on a high school-earned athletics scholarship which only covered the first year of university.
During my first year, I scored a part-time job selling used boats at a local marina, while scoring a second part-time job as Waitstaff slinging fancy umbrella drinks in a private Women's Club not far from where I was renting.
My parents own a 1000 acre tobacco farm in southern Ontario Canada and they harvest millions of dollars in tobacco each year.
I asked my Norwegian father one time just prior to graduating from high school, if we were rich? ...because we seemed to have more tractors and other motorized stuff sitting around than people available to drive them .
He replied, "No... WE are not rich... your mother and I are rich but you and your two sisters are poor! You girls are poor because you don't own anything, including the bicycles you ride to school on everyday!", hence my reason for having two part-time jobs after the scholarship funding fizzled out!

Captainjackass · 31-35, M
Nope they basically ignored me when I was a kid when it came to school. Im paying for college myself now but can only go because of my fafsa.
Amyrakunejo · F
No. Like, my education, was about 75% what I learned myself. The academy I attended, was volunteer-run, cost me nothing to attend, except for anything supplies related that I had to acquire myself.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Amyrakunejo did you gain a degree in something?
Amyrakunejo · F
@samueltyler2 Ah, I was one of up to eight that had their own personal lab, but a degree? No; the academy I attended did not offer degrees as far as I know. I'm an esquire of my main field of study, at best.
My main field of study? Alchemy, or I guess it's called Chemistry now. Poh-tay-toh, poh-tah-toh.

Partly. I had scholarships and I worked. I paid for grad school.
Lugwho · 61-69, M
No. There were no tuition fees and I got a grant for living costs. It was a long time ago.
Pfuzylogic · M
Dad did after a lawsuit but he stalked me afterwards. 😅
It was worth it.
It was worth it.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
School was state funded. I borrowed and worked my own way through university.

@swirlie I'm from the UK. My school was very social 🙂
swirlie · 31-35
@SunshineGirl
You're thinking that being social at school is what socialized education means?

SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@swirlie I was punning. The term does not mean much in the UK where most children receive state funded education.
Ramon67 · 61-69, M
In a roundabout way they did . I’m a veteran
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Partially, i worked 3 jobs to pay for the balance
Through high school and then I got student loans for university.
Sojournersoul · M
Nope, went in the military to pay for my education.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Sojournersoul Your service (for which you should be thanked) earned you that right and in my opinion, much more...😷
Sojournersoul · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Thank you very much. I went in for four years and stayed 21.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Sojournersoul Thats a career obviously. People like you are what is needed running government. Although you are probably too honest and sensible to get involved..I have long held the view that Service should be a prerequisite for Elected office. or certain community occupations, like law enforcement.. Or maybe even teaching. It may not get all the right people in. But it would keep a lot of the wrong people out..😷
Cigarguy · M
What education
YoMomma ·
I guess my mom bought us school books
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Up to highschool, along with all the broken windows 🫥 Handball was a serious thing in highschool.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
No. Had to take out a loan.
shuhak · M
No. I used grants and my own money.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M

Yulianna · 26-30, F
yes, quite considerably... it was a business investment.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna it has happened to me at times fetish, other times nudity, so weird.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 Because AI knows when you're naked and on SW. Your camera is on.
Elessar · 31-35, M

No. The state of California and the US government. An arrangement made possible with being a ward of the state.
