No, they did not. I entered university on a high school-earned athletics scholarship which only covered the first year of university.

During my first year, I scored a part-time job selling used boats at a local marina, while scoring a second part-time job as Waitstaff slinging fancy umbrella drinks in a private Women's Club not far from where I was renting.

My parents own a 1000 acre tobacco farm in southern Ontario Canada and they harvest millions of dollars in tobacco each year.

I asked my Norwegian father one time just prior to graduating from high school, if we were rich? ...because we seemed to have more tractors and other motorized stuff sitting around than people available to drive them .

He replied, "No... WE are not rich... your mother and I are rich but you and your two sisters are poor! You girls are poor because you don't own anything, including the bicycles you ride to school on everyday!", hence my reason for having two part-time jobs after the scholarship funding fizzled out!
