sree251 A person misses so much when they neglect to read God's Word. The Bible
is God's Word. It says faith comes by hearing, and hearing, by God's Word. Jesus's disciples
lived according to God's Word. So should we also. Jesus said, "Keep this Book always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so you will learn from it, be wise, and be prosperous and successful. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you, wherever you go. Joshua 1:8-9 Why would God tell us to read His Word, if it wasn't important to our lives? Wisdom does not come automatically. The Bible teaches us that wisdom comes only from God. The very reason we need to read God's Word, so we know these things. Ignore it, and we are ignoring God.
This is why Jesus said in His Word that His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Psalm 119:105. Why would He tell people to live by His Word, if it wasn't truth? When we follow what the Bible says, we are also following Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. One does not do anything without the other. The Bible is an intricate part of a follower of God, everyday life, and a road map for mankind to know about who God is, learn prophecy, and how to have salvation and eternal life in heaven. Without it, no one would have known these things. It is a spiritual guide and teaches many wise lessons. It is a treasure to the soul. We read it's words from the Holy Spirit and this helps us grow as followers of Christ. Neglect that, and our spirit grows weak because just as we need food to stay alive, we need to read God's word to feed our spirit and keep it alive and growing in the Lord. The Bible contains all the teachings of God in Jesus Christ, His son. It renews our mind and spirit and through it, the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts and minds. It is our definitive source for the answers to our questions about God. In its pages, are life. It is our road map for life and helps us renew our minds and our Spirit, so we can know God's will. Reading the Bible allows us to be certain of what God said. The Bible is our final authority. "Sanctify them by the truth; your Word is Truth." John 17:17
Jesus said, "You study the scriptures diligently because in them you have eternal life. These are the very scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to Me to have life." John 5:39-40
"If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask in My name, and it will be done for you." John 15:7
In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in the last days He has spoken to us through His Word and by His Son, Jesus, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe. The sun is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining All Things by His powerful Word. After Jesus had provided purification for sins, He ascended unto heaven and sat down at the right hand of His Father in heaven. Hebrews 1:1-3
2 Timothy 3:16-17 states that God's Word is profitable to us for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for
training in righteousness.
Then read Romans 15:4 - "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the scriptures and the encouragement they provide, we have hope."
Reading the Bible helps us know how to keep from sinning. "I have hidden your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11
