I have always had some issues with how I perceive myself and wondering how others see me so because of this some compliments stick to my mind as if I had found some important clue to understand myself. here are a few that I will always remember:
" you should be given an honorary PHD in customer service"
" the funny thing about you is that you are so charismatic and you're completely unaware of it"
(about me) " there is no limit to how much I trust this guy, you can trust him with anything"

A friend’s husband (they were much older than me) had lost his son to suicide. One night her hubs and I were outside having a beer and he told me he wished his son had met me. He said if his son had known me, he would have seen hope and not taken his life.
@Pinkstarburst Wow. That’s very poignant.

I saw an ex pupil in the supermarket. He came and said hello. We spoke for a few minutes then asked after another of his old teachers. His gf came around the corner and he introduced us and told her Mrs R and Mrs D were always very kind to me in school and always helped me.
That was lovely he remembered us that way.
@RubySoo Amen! I'm sure they all loved you, Ruby. You have such a sweet heart and caring ways. 🌹🤗 Teachers like you are never forgotten. I remember my first grade teacher. She was elderly and I remember her beautiful grey wavy hair. She had the most beautiful smile and I thought she was so pretty. She was the sweetest. Mrs. Bradshaw.

@LadyGrace i remember all my old teachers. When i was 7 my teacher, Miss R seemed ancient, but was probably 50ish. She was the loveliest caring, kind and funny lady. She'd taught my siblings who are much older than me. I met her in town many years later. She was well in her 80s. Not only did she remember me, but she asked after my siblings by name!
Amazing lady x
@RubySoo Wow, that's really something.
1969 in Denver. I was in the USAF. I was in uniform. An elderly gentleman wearing a beret stopped me. He spoke in English with a French accent, asked to shake my hand. I obliged . Then he said how grateful he was to the Americans in the military because the Americans liberated his home country of France from the Nazis. I’ve always held that close. My dad served in France, (Metz) Patton’s 3rd Army, 5th infantry division aka the Red Diamond.
The meeting meant and still does much to me.
@NativePortlander1970 Your Dad was in SAC! I served at Ellsworth, late 70s
@soar2newhighs I believe Denver, specifically Cheyenne Mountain, is central command.

I had a stranger tell me i looked 23 while I'm really late 30s ha. They made me feel good, they had a good energy around them that made me feel calm.

A compliment I'll never forget is when I went into town and didn't check my appearance first. I was wearing a white shirt with no bra. I had to go inside the store to pick up some food. I'm standing in line and man next me tells me what a beautiful shirt it is I'm wearing. I smiled and looked down realizing then that it was a plain white shirt but all the shape, outline, and shadow was very apparent. It was harmless enough of a typical wondering eye male compliment, but since I'd recently been physically attacked by a guy who had some serious intentions, I ended up having to bolt out of the store from a surprise panic attack. This probably isn't the answer that was expected, but I really won't ever forget that compliment.

Back in school, we had this poll where we had to write down the names of the person we liked most and the person we disliked most. And the reasons for it. And submit the anonymous slips. One girl - happened to be the most gorgeous and sought after - complained that she couldnt name any for dislike most.

When the poll results came, one of the slips that had me as liked most - with quite flattering compliments - was blank on the hate most name.

Made my day and my year 😀😀. My best compliment ever. 😚🥰

My supervisor at Bed Bath and Beyond Corporate was an extremely funny person, usually. But one day, I walked in, smiling as I always did, and she told me that my smile brightened up the whole place, and that she looked forward to seeing me walk in every day, like some sort of angel spreading my light. And then she said, "I'm not even JOKING!" 😊😊😊

A few weeks ago, a young lady told me that something I said a few years ago caused her to change her life from the downward spiral she was experiencing. I don't know what I said, but I'm glad it helped her.

i was at my 50th high school reunion last June. A classmate came up to me and said that i was always nice to her and never bullied her like others had. that meant the world to me and that is how i want to be remembered

I was walking into a store and a lady was walking out and she said you are beautiful! It caught me by surprise, it made my day i replied thank you so are you!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@AngelUnforgiven I understand how uplifting that can be. My wife would get that a few times a year and it was always a surprise, in a flash comment by a stranger. A few times walking in or out of a store, like your experience. One that 15 years later still lights her up just to mention it ...slowly walking across a busy street in Austin, an opposite direction lady walker, stopped her, pressed her cheek within an inch and whispered in my wife's ear: "you are so beautiful" then just kept walking.

My wife is now in advanced Parkinson's, Lew Body, bedridden on Hospice. and just reminding her of that incident will lift her spirits to the top of the flagpole :)

One day when I particularly wasn’t feeling my prettiest I was walking through the grocery store and this man stopped me and told me I was gorgeous 🥹 I’ll never forget that

When I was 12 or 13 a friend of mine told me her 16 year old brother thought I was pretty. I walked on air the rest of the day. When you're 13 a 16 year old boy thinking you're pretty is huge!

A friend here has said that I have restored her hope that decent men do exist, that means a lot to me.

In high school, my football coach said he wished his sons would grow up to be like me. He was more of a father figure than my own father, so those words really meant a lot
when i was at a bar in my mid 40s and a couple of young ones in their 20s approached me. (a male and a female) the guy says to me that they are playing truth or dare so he dared his female friend that she has to pick out one guy in the bar she would most like to sleep with and that was me. then she scurried away all embarrassed.....then he tells me unfortunately thats not gonna happen as she's engaged. i was still tickled pink though 😊
Idk but when someone said "because i really value your opinion. I really do" i felt like i could die happy that night.
I don't get compliments. People tell me I'm interesting and I look young.

A boss told me I looked like a "benign Charles Manson." I said I didn't appreciate the "benign" part of that.

When I gaze into your eyes, they're so calm and remind me of the ocean, with colors that shift and change, reflecting the warmth of the sun and the gentle drift of clouds.
