Are you a likeable person?

I am a likeable person, but I also know I can be hard to deal with for some people. My friends are guys I can call at 2:00 am and they will show up to help. My downfall with most people is I say what I think is right, not what they want to hear.

I am not sure if my boss is the right person to base whether I change jobs or not. Like you, I sometimes feel invisible to my boss. I work remotely; I talk to my boss maybe a few times over the year. I see email and text conversations with others in my position, my boss spends more time communicating with others because they need more direction, encouragement, whatever. Being left alone to do my job sometimes leaves me feeling left out, the upside to that is that my boss doesn't feel a need to correct what I am doing or get involved in performance of my job.

I can be standoffish which I know doesn't come across well to others. The friends I have know this about me and took the time to let me feel safe to be me around them. To most folks I am unlikable. I have the same issue at work. I think it's because I am an introvert and I don't really socialize with my coworkers and I can't really fake it very well. I do my work, I try to be polite, but I am treated like I am not wanted when I am there. There are times not even one person will acknowledge me the whole day

I’m highly likeable in small doses but never know when to leave 😂

I’ve never been too concerned with being liked. My focus has always been on getting things done. Competence comes first.
We’re here to create impact for our families, our communities, and the people around us. And truth is, not everyone will be happy with every decision or action along the way.
If it’s someone I truly value, I take a step back, listen, and try to find common ground. If not, I keep moving and doing what needs to be done in that moment.

At my first job, a group of guys decided to not like me, so they did everything to make me feel unwelcome. Never knew what their problem was, or why they didn't give me a chance, but my next job became like a small family to me, and I'm really glad that I moved on. Maybe it's time to stop asking why and just move on instead?

Also not that, my dear Fox 🙂 Just blasted someone on here again. Never mind! I got that very change over from being highly regarded as a professional to just being there at the same age that you're now at. Don't feel bad about it. Trying to find another job some ten years ago would have meant that I gave in. I got Gaza-bombed at the very first evaluation interview with a new boss. She left nothing standing. Even my clothing was critized. I just went to my trade union and she got to do some more training at being a boss. Some years afterwards she critized me for not haven gotten over it yet. I told he that it was my trauma not hers. Do whatever you think suits best for you. Take care!

I don't think so. I'm quiet and don't exactly make myself out to be the most approachable person. So people keep their distance. I'm not chatty at work with the coworkers. I wouldn't say in general that people don't treat me right but I do stay pretty invisible. That's of course on me though.

Better be unliked than to be liked for the wrong reasons. But let's say, being liked and being likeable isn't the same thing.

It sucks to be misunderstood at the workplace though. It's not you they're rejecting I believe, is this part in themselves that is reminding them that freedom of the spirit which you carry. They're feeling perhaps some strange responsibility towards something, that they cannot understand. Or some sort of uneasiness. It could be that through your presence they're called to some kind of initiation. And it feels out of space, because ehm, it might be!

As for me, I can be all of the above 😏 Us shapeshifters 😜...

You seem likable enough. You have a sense of humor. And you grasp situations well. Perhaps you are too good and they feel threatened by your efficiency. I wouldn't take it personally. I had a manager that did everything he could to torpedo my job. I retired and he got fired. 🤭

I have no issue apologising for doing wrong , humility taught me that but I’m not about to go and be someone’s puppet because they have toxic traits they don’t wanna work on.

In the short term, yes. But I’m also moody af due to MDD, GAD, SAD, PTSD, ADHD and ASD coupled with severe self esteem issues. It generally doesn’t take long to be disliked 🤷‍♂

My advice is: be who you are. Anyone who doesn't like it is none of your business.

To be honest I have no idea, but according to several people that know me well I am. I don't try to be, maybe that's why.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. They're the ones with the problem; for what reasons, I don't know.

You know work places can be like high school. Someone maybe be talking what they don’t know. Just ignore it. They will move on.

I don't see myself that way. I think most people are indifferent to me and some look like they dislike me merely for my face or something.
