[@sw-question ] 🤔the soviet bloc

Sidewinder · 36-40, M
A much better question would be: "What exists now that didn't exist then.?"

And right off the top of my head, I can tell you that computers existed in 1985, however, the internet as we know it today does not.⬇

Cell phones existed in 1985, but in this form. ⬇

This was the way to watch the movies whenever you wanted back in 1985. ⬇

Couldn't do that in 1955.

This was the way to listen to music on the go back in 1985.⬇

Gas at $1.12 per gallon
katydidnt · 61-69, F
@carpediem But adjusting for inflation, 1985:$1.12::2025:$3.30, so we're paying approx. the 1985 price.
It still exists, but it’s unlikely used that much…

@bijouxbroussard To my knowledge, portable CD players were more mainstream in the late 1990's up until the mid 2000's.

Prior to that, CD's were first an exclusively Japanese thing in 1982, before being introduced to North America in 1984.

And while many CD players in the mainstream market were stationary at the time, the first portable CD player was introduced by Sony in 1984 and exclusively in Japan.
@Sidewinder I bought my AIWA in 1985.

@FreeSpirit1 i don't recall anything about there being any desire to trim pubic hair back in the 70s or 80s. Guess it wasn't a priority.

@Disguised If by EP, you mean Extended play records. (12" Singles) then yes.

If by EP, as in Experience Project, then no, that didn't exist in 1985.
