Where is the last place you've been where you felt completely out of place?

I went to a club party a few months ago with some old college friends, that scene is NOT for me anymore XD

I was invited to a menage a trois and I showed up with wine and cheese. I don't speak french and thought it meant munchies at 3...... 🫢🤣

thanks for bestie

I went to one class reunion, my 30th. Hadnt seen anyone prior, military kept me from thr previous ones.

The cliques were so strong, it felt like high school all over.

Never doing that again.
@rosyhills I tell people to go once if youre slightly curious, but have an "out" in case you say nope, like I should've.
@Slade Same here. We always had beer, so there was a core 5 of us, sll in various grades.

They, I would see again, but not my classmates.
@ArkBallet Sadly, very.
Funny how we grow out of things we once enjoyed.
ArkBallet · F
@Sojournersoul I'd much rather have a small get-together for some fun now!
@ArkBallet me too.

A few years ago I entered training into the bakery department of the restaurant I work at.

Baking is a science as well as a lot of heavy lifting. I felt like I couldn't learn fast enough so I got out of there.
ArkBallet · F
@caPnAhab Oh wow, that sounds tough!
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@ArkBallet I still work in the same place, except it's the kitchen where I'm really efficient
ArkBallet · F
@caPnAhab then might as well stay

Years ago when I was collage age range. Me and pals when to a this bar in another county and were dressed like bikers/outlaws turned out this was a collage hipster yuppie rich kid hang out bar.

The 5 of us look mice in a room full of cats
BeachGirl47 · 26-30, F
At my high school reunion. Was mostly people there i didnt associat with while in school
ArkBallet · F
@BeachGirl47 Yeah, it's usually like that every time.

They always have a large crowd of people at the reunion, when in reality you only had 5 or less people you talked to at most.

It gets sad fast, lmao

@ArkBallet true

@ArkBallet I had a pretty tight bunch I went to grammer school with. They always come to our HS reunions even if they didn't go there

I'm always happy to see them
In my day dream …. Really it could never come true anyway …

Any time I’m in a church. I’m just not a believer. Churches make me really uncomfortable, almost anxious tbh.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Adogslife I can relate to this. I feel strongly that I don't belong there.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@CrazyMusicLover Exactly. I’m waiting for the lightning bolt. I know where it’s aiming.

"When you are with others act as though you are alone. When alone act as though you are with others."

Buddhist saying.
that is a scene that quickly falls off the radar lol
ArkBallet · F
@CookieCrisp Yeah, it didn't have much lasting impact on my life. My friends were still pretty in to it though
@ArkBallet thats the odd moment when you realize that you have progressed as a person and your friends... maybe not so much so. lol
ArkBallet · F
@CookieCrisp That's honestly always a sad realization... but funny at the sad time
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I don't know the last but I remember some occasions when I had to leave asap and I did.
ArkBallet · F

A new, expensive restaurant. Yet I did not know at first. I walked in, and looked around. It was way too nice, and people well dressed. I asked to see a menu. All prices were in whole dollars. That is always a sign. Most plates were about $30 or even $40. Even a burger was $20.

Nope nope nope. I walked out and went next door to a full-service restaurant and got this for about $15:

I can give an answer btw. I was at a gay bar a few years ago because of one of my friends who wanted to go to one. I felt extremely out of place lol.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Tell u the truth it kind of sounds like fun. Put a skirt on and a cute top and heels and a little make-up. After a couple drinks dance a little

Gosh, I would not go to a reunion. They only brag how well they have done. And give me a funny handshake, cos they are all Freemans.
akindheart · 61-69, F

attending my father's funeral mass at Cadet Chapel was crazy awkward
ArkBallet · F
@tenente I'm sorry! That doesn't sound like a pleasant nor fun occasion at all. :/
tenente · 100+, M
@ArkBallet at mass, the leathernecks told me Desert Storm changed him, and not to judge him. the drugs and violence aside, i loved him. but i don't think anything i did could have made him believe it. he was too far gone the moment i was born. sitting there with these other jarheads in that esteemed place of worship, listening to the eulogies of a man i felt never met just felt so weird and fake. the venerable ceremony tore me in half. the veteran side of me couldn't reconcile with the fractured relationship i had with a father who beat my mother daily. just the most awkward experience i think i've ever had

On Saturday we were talking about a Mens Bible Study group that meets on Tuesday mornings. I said I asked about attending and was told they are taking the summer off. An acquaintance told me that the men are meeting on Tuesday mornings for breakfast at Perkins and I should go. I was thinking to myself Right! I am going to go to a restaurant. Ask for a group of guys I don't know and say hi. I am here for 🥞 and to talk about joining your Bible Study in the fall. I don't think so! That is way to far out of my comfort zone.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@Musicman
I agree with you. I wouldn't bother going either.

What those guys are showing you is that they belong to an exclusive men's club, not a Bible Study group. For them to tell you they are taking the summer off, but then never invited you to join 'them' for pancakes at a restaurant, is telling you that their Bible Study group actually serves as a facade for the clique-group of like-minds who use the church as a self-serving stage for their own gain.

Word of advice.. when someone shows you who they are and what they're all about but you just can't believe it, just believe them.
Madmonk · M
@Musicman nonsense. They would be grateful to have you. If not shake the dust off
Musicman · 61-69, M
