I subscribe to the idea that if you want something good, you have to pay up. Healthcare included. I pay a premium for God forbid the day I get ill or in a accident.
@sunsporter1649 nobody dictates how i live in Canada man. You know what will happen if i skip taxes in the next 5 years? Nothing. I work btw. Every day. Yet I still believe the poor should be cared for as well.😐 mindfuck huh
@SW-User LOL, yet you profess to be a socialist. Amusing
SW-User
@sunsporter1649 nooo, you said anything out of the states is socialism basically. Like Canada. Which is idiotic. I pay taxes because it’s my duty. That’s how the community works. You believe in a system where money and guns rule. Old money is cool, the new ones are shit out of luck. That’s what you believe in you see. Slavery is over, the 18th century is over mmk? Im pretty certain you’re a kid typing this btw. Either way you have a problem.
@carpediem If you really think anything about Canada is actually "socialist" then you're too removed from reality to actually have an intellectual conversation about this topic.
I don’t know where you live but where I am, every homeless person, I personally know has medical care and food stamps and most have been put on disability. Look it is not a life most would want but to say women and children are just put on the streets to survive is not true where I live.@MickRogers
The Republicans are overriding votes that have already taken place, they are going against anything that will help the people. The Dems want to give the people stimulus money, healthcare insurance, jobs and the republicans are voting against the people. The Republicans are even voting against Clean Water. McConnell says he is 100% dedicated to stopping the Democrat agenda so he is 100% against helping the people.
@Pitchblue And he is a Republican.. Obviously I am missing your point here. Mine was that American Capital is profit motivated in the short term and doesnt give a damn about the people or the consequences to the nation and that will be their downfall. I dont like the Chinese system. But they are all make to pull in the same direction and that can plan long term.
We have hospitals for the poor in the United States, in all major cities, which are required to provide free health services for those who can't pay.
Only private hospitals have the right to turn people away, and it might behoove the poor people, like illegals, who claim to have no insurance to do a little investigation in advance of their need.
In the United States, all children and adults who are either disabled or on welfare receive free health care already.
All adults and children who are disabled or over the age of 65 automatically receive Medicare, which pays for 80% of most health care costs.
Just saying...you might want to research before you begin this pathetic crying for the "poor homeless children", who are supposedly, "dying of terminal diseases". They are all on welfare.
There are no children in the United States who are not taken up by CPS if their parents fail to provide food, health care, adequate shelter, and an environment conducive to attending school. Shelters are available, and there are about a hundred ways people can cut the line to section 8.
As a former worker in a Homeless Shelter for families with children, I am astonished at the false narrative here.
There is no such thing as homeless children in America. The children get taken into the state. And what country are “homeless” children dying because it certainly isn’t America 🤔 especially considering you can go to the hospital for free at any given time without money or insurance.
Especially considering defacs would readily be involved in the lack of care and management involving the child’s poor health
I also believe that people that put time and money into their health have the right not to have to pay for the healthcare of people who go to Mcdonalds every day. You multiply what you subsidize, and if you take from the more productive people there will be less productivity. Everyone gets dragged down.
@ViciDraco I'm not falsifying how high taxes are, there are over 200,000 forms of tax. A landlord can't even allow his tenant to keep a pet without it being taxed.
@lynncelestial Taxes are not why modern medical care is so expensive, that’s a vast oversimplification. The insurance model of healthcare is in use all over the world because the system you think you want is completely untenable.
Modern healthcare runs on highly trained professionals and extremely expensive equipment. That’s why we spread the costs around, and there is no easy way to get around that without going back to some turn of the century model where the family doctor with no equipment does everything.
People who want to improve the human condition and try to make the life experience a good one for everyone have recently been labeled as, "Bad people, horrible people".
"A Republican is a man with two good legs who, however, has never learned how to walk forward." "Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough." FDR
Sorry. Universal health care is not a right. It is a privilege. It is earned and fought for by voters choosing elected officials who are NOT corrupted and bought by money from special interested groups that represent Pharmaceutical companies and Medical supply, and service operations and insurance companies; none of whom want and oversight while the gouge profit our of the people. Thats what turned a great simple idea into the dogs breakfast called Obamacare. Maybe the people deserve better. But until they get rid of the political background operators, they are not going to get it. America. The best Democracy money can buy..
@sunsporter1649 Thw whole ecology of this planet runs on the carbon cycle. It provide the building blocks of like for everything and fuels it. Tricks like PV panels bypass that. But with the except of Nuclear power and Hydrogen, someplace an exchange of carbon has to be made. or we harness nature. And it isnt the liberals who own airlines or Build passenger or military jets. That would be the government and big business.
I once spoke to an American about universal health care and got his take on why it doesn’t exist. It should be a right for every American citizen…. Citizen… not non citizens that are illegally in the United States. Everyone should pay a small amount so that everyone who is a citizen can have healthcare.
More awesomeness from Canada's health care system. Excerpt: While almost a third of Americans have been fully vaccinated, Canada has inoculated only 3% of its almost 38 million people... (5/5/21) https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/vaccine-tourism-canadians-fly-south-shot-us-demand-falls-2021-05-05/
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The American system, and not the virus, was responsible for people dying? I could've sworn it was, you know, the virus that has killed more than 3 million people worldwide. Must be the American system that's causing all the covid problems in places like India now, too, right? We can thank the American system and Donald Trump for getting vaccines produced at lightning speeds. Americans are fully vaccinated while Canadians are doing what they're used to doing under their "health care" system: Waiting and waiting. Or, heading south to the USA.
@graphite Are you being intentionally dense? The reason so many people died in the US specifically is because of the American system. Hell even experts predicted something similar years before if a pandemic ever reached the US.
And the idea that you can thank Donny and the US system for the vaccines is next level delusional and just Trumpists trying to take credit for literally everyone else's work.
Look up the Great Chicago Fire. There is a reason for profit fire brigades ended with that fire.
And please quit basing your ideas on the Canadian system from cliches from Steven Crowder. It is embarrassingly ignorant.
Good job proving you are not really serious about caring about the well-being of others and all you care about is PR for daddy Trump your cult leader.
Oh and good job with your article proving that the US system is about rich people being able to jump the line. I guess you think healthcare should remain a privilege for the wealthy.
@graphite Our Federal Government has also been very slow to get a vaccination program up and running. But a looming election seems to have focused their attention recently and they really need a couple of good scores on the board.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I always see people making these arguments from their ivory tower. He’s here talking about how much they love America they just want to come there. When the majority of people from Central America and further only go there because of proximity. I mean they’re so destitute, it’s not like they could just fly. Why the hell else are they walking 100s of km or literally sailing on a dingy.
You have a right to forcibly conscript someone else to provide health care? Is that what you're saying?
Are you aware of this socialist thing called "insurance"? It makes other people pay for the diseases you get because of saying it was your right to drink, smoke, eat poorly, etc., as well as weirdo conditions you get through ANY means which cost a LOT of money...?
They have it for health, vehicles, homes/apartments, even your life!
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So 'splain it to us mere mortals, willya? All we hear from you is bullschiff, how 'bout putting your beliefs out in black and white for all to comment on
Agreed. The US is the only first world nation in the world that doesn’t provide health care for all citizens. Even most second world nations have that and a decent number of third world countries too.
Canadian healthcare works, in part, because it limits demand. The US system works, in part, because the majority can obtain the care of their choice at the snap of a finger.
Life expectancy in Canada probably exceeds that of the US because Canada has a more managed population. Life expectancy in the US is lower, probably because the US has an unmanaged population.
There is probably merit for all 4 of the above premises. Why we can't all learn from one another is because the political interest tries to achieve its way by making the alternatives illegal.
@Heartlander I agree with you completely. And the first thing to sort out is where in the priorities a human life sits. Just because it is human. Not because it is rich. or white, or famous, or prays to the right God.
Here's somethig your momma didn't teach you (she sure taught me plenty, hoo boy) -you will never win anyone over to your cause with mindless, hateful snark. You will never achieve anything worthwhile.
@Rosiechick13 Of course Obamacare didn't work, they wanted something passed, and told them to write whatever could pass.
So basically the healthcare system lobbyist got to buy politicians and basically got to write their own bill... with the other rule being they could deny people.
They still had too much control of everything else... including prices and coverage. It really was more like the original system that anyone wants to admit.
You can also look at it from a national security standpoint. Almost 10 years ago if I remember right they did a documentary on a hypothetical pandemic that could collapse the USA into a walking dead level scenario and even back then they predicted the US for profit healthcare system would fail spectacularly and true to form it did but on a smaller scale even with Trump helping the failure along.
@Mistakesmakeus Universal healthcare doesn’t require more taxes - that’s all in how you set it up. Universal healthcare doesn’t require some sort of tax-funded single-payer model.
I like the Swiss setup, myself. Better outcomes, lower costs, less price gouging, etc.
I do not like classifying services that others need to provide as rights. But I do look at it from a social investment angle and universal healthcare appears to be an amazingly good investment. Health and happiness of citizenry should be a government's top priority and the function that economies are meant to serve. If that isn't happening, then the economy is warped and broken. Universal healthcare plugs directly into the health component and also reduces the stress of worrying about the cost of medical care if something does go wrong. It's a no brainer if you want a vibrant, productive society.
