Universal Health Care is a right.

I don't know why you want to keep insisting on letting homeless children die of terminal diseases just to keep your stupid health insurance systems up and running. Canada has an awesome single payer system that helps its people out to a wonderful degree so all this "iT dOeSn'T wOrK" is pure BS. Social democracy is the way.

Canada's "awesome" single-payer system:

@graphite Like I said in the other thread, you're only put on a waiting list if your need can wait, such as if you have a cold. If you get into critical condition, such as 3rd degree burns on a majority of your body, you get looked at right away no cost. While, in the US, you would get put into serious medical debt in the same position.

www.census.gov: The percentage of people with health insurance coverage for all or part of 2019 was 92.0 percent. Private health insurance coverage was more prevalent than public coverage, covering 68.0 and 34.1 percent of the population at some point during the year, respectively.

@graphite The Fraser Institute? The most right wing think tank in the entire country that advocates privatizing everything not nailed down. Really?
@graphite Number of Canadians who go bankrupt because of medical bills = 0

Number of Americans that go bankrupt because of medical bills = 40 to 50 thousand every year.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow We leave it to people to take care of themselves and see to it that they have health insurance, rather than a one-size-fits-all government program. There are always efforts under way to improve the system. Meanwhile: https://torontosun.com/news/national/canadians-continue-to-leave-the-country-for-health-care-says-new-report
@graphite No, you bankrupt people so corrupt oligarchs and build mansions and buy yachts.

You have a system that is objectively a total failure. There is a reason the rest of the developed world abandoned that model half a century ago.
graphite · 61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow 40,000-50,000 out of 350 million people. We need to trash our whole health care system and have a government takeover because of that. 🤣
@graphite And another right wing rag that is only known for the bikini clad women on the weather page. lol

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Such a failure of a place, yet the #1 of destination of the world's immigrants. 🤣
@graphite Compared to zero in every other developed nation.

You guys pay double what the rest of the world pays for care and get at best mediocre results. Only a blind ideologue like you would defend such a system. Someone who is fine with people dying as martyrs to your ideology.

@graphite Again again you claim this 1# based on an unsourced claim on a website.
@graphite Also where people immigrate to has fuck all to do with your healthcare.
@graphite The US healthcare system forgot the hypocratic oath and seems to have gone from "Do no harm" to "make it rain".
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The new “shining hill city” standard - better healthcare than El Salvador 🤣

Most of our immigrants immigrate here becuase it’s the only first world country they can conceivably reach. Pretty nutty to pretend our healthcare system has much to do with that.

@graphite actually there are loads of magazines and websites that state that Canada is #1 place to live. Unfortunately, you’re between us and Central America. If you weren’t they wouldn’t go there. America on the other hand is generally like 30th in the world. However, those are websites and magazines. Most people from countries outside of Central America and South America move there with a false sense of what America really is. They watch movies and think it’s amazing. I’ve met loads of Americans living here that would never head back because they’d have died from cancer or what have you because sometimes even insurance doesn’t cover your meds or only covers them long enough to die a more painful death. You sit there more than likely with a silver spoon in your mouth saying that you have to work for it. There are millions of Americans that work their asses off that still can’t afford to live.
@QuixoticSoul Pretty much. But we are dealing with that level of Stockholm syndrome.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I always see people making these arguments from their ivory tower. He’s here talking about how much they love America they just want to come there. When the majority of people from Central America and further only go there because of proximity. I mean they’re so destitute, it’s not like they could just fly. Why the hell else are they walking 100s of km or literally sailing on a dingy.
@Benjr134 For sure. I mean seriously, what do they think they are going to do? Make a raft and make for Australia from Guatemala?

Not to mention these people are not idiots and know who backs the death squads back home.
Benjr134 · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Exactly. Seems he doesn’t know what the oasis affect is.
