Do you support the troops or do blue lives matter ?

clearly the disrespectful disobedience of this citizen towards the police officers cannot be tolerated. but then again he is serving the country and thats how our society treats em...

i would really like some conservative input on this.. shoudl those cops be fired ? or is the black guy lucky to be alive ? how does the military view the action of these cops ? is the behaviour acceptable ? i mean cleary those poor cops had all reason to feel threatened.

They came at him with weapons drawn at the beginning of his encounter with them.
When he expressed that he was frightened, he was told he should be and that he was about to "ride the lightening".
What are the odds that if the lieutenant was white this would never had happened?
I think the citizen was calm and collected. Frankly, it may well have saved his life.

I'm an old white woman and I get nervous when a cop just follows me. I simply cannot imagine being a black person that has to deal with police.

@stratosranger
Portland, Seattle and Minneapolis police departments can’t KEEP police officers. They’re leaving in droves. Anything else you care to be wrong about?
Well, that wasn't your statement, was it? To be factual, here's what you said:
Yep, that’s what police departments do these days. The alternative is having whole towns burned down in “peaceful protests.”
And in FACT, none of these cities fired their police officers. Portland saw some officers leave the police department, on their own, in protest, thinking that the Mayor will begging them to stay. This did not happen and good riddance to the Klanish elements of the Portland police department.

Seattle saw nearly 40 new recruits leave last fall. Good riddance. I am hoping the Police Union president would leave, he's as racist as they come and there's no way to get rid of him, unless he's voted out.

Two officers were suspended following video confirmation that they participated in the Jan 6th insurrection and attack on the US Capitol.

Minneapolis saw its attrition rate go from 45 officers, to 65 officers. Good riddance as well.

But more importantly, this has nothing to do with your statement. Anything else you care to be wrong about?
You were the one who brought up Minneapolis, Portland and Seattle. Remember?
Not a single officer was fired in Seattle, Portland or Minneapolis
No. They’re leaving in droves. Too much woke bullshit. Anything else you care to be wrong about? @Northwest
No. They’re leaving in droves.
Which is not the same as being fires. I am concerned that you don't have a firm grip on basic English. Are you able to follow a normal conversation?

Not to mention that "in droves" is a relative term, and in reality it means that the attrition rate went from 2.5% to 3.5%.

I mean, the cops had some reason to be concerned since the guy didn't immediately pull over (which can be indicative of a lethal trap), but these cops are clearly on a power trip and should not be allowed anywhere in law enforcement. Good on the civilian here for being so goddamn patient and cautious.
disrespectful disobedience
?

The Lt. was searching for a well-lit, safe place to stop for both his personal safety and that of the officers. This is a tactic promoted by law enforcement and as a female, you should be well acquainted with it.

When he stated he was nervous and scared to exit his vehicle (showing both open hands out of the window), he was told he should be, only confirming the correctness of his actions.

This was a simple traffic stop that could've been resolved with a warning or ticket. But when you come up on a car with firearms drawn (one officer holding it uselessly like he's in a gangster movie) and shouting men who pepper spray a coherent man trying to discuss the situation, you'll end up just like this.

And they lied. They first offered the man a "free pass" with no ticket or he could choose to argue and fight it. That was a clear tactic to get this thing disappeared. Because what they didn't know as they were planning to erase body cam footage is 1) the gentleman's' resolve and 2) another camera catching them being a-holes.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Graylight offering a pass for no wrongdoing.
What a good guy😖
This was a case of Black Man driving New Car. They said they pulled him over for no licence plate but the temp tag was clearly posted in the window.
It is common knowledge that the Cops pull Black People over on the dark roads close to where the Lieutenant stopped, like many Black People he knew he had to make it to the Service Station where it was lit up and there were cameras. Knowing this happens frequently the Police use "Resisting" as an excuse to beat and charge people. In this case after beating and pepper spraying the Lieutenant these Cops let him go but threatened his career if he said anything about this stop. So you tell me, who was right in this situation?
@Spoiledbrat Google it. If anyone was resentful it was the Cops because a Black Man was driving a New Car.

The police officer has been fired. If this was a white person in the car, this would not have happened. By that, I mean being asked to get out of the car, and subjected to verbal abuse, followed by getting assaulted (pepper spray), forced to his knees and handcuffed.

I've had multiple traffic violations, and was never asked to get out of the car. Simply to produce my license and registration. Once, I was stopped for doing 115, in a 60 zone. I got a ticket, but was not asked to get out of the car, and this is after a nearly 10 mile chase, where I was going so fast, I did not realize a cop was behind me, until I slowed down near the exit, and they caught up with me.

@whowasthatmaskedman Yes. Our country has issues.
@whowasthatmaskedman well our weak politicians for fear of being called racist dare not truly address the issue in communities of color where gun proliferation is. Much of this spills out of those communities and when those guns are involved in situations where police are called it is not good.

@soar2newhighs
My point: you interact with law enforcement, don’t let your behavior result in an unfortunate or lethal situation.
we’re talking about citizens and police and their interactions.
The police should interact with me, just like a customer service representative does. With respect. In badly trained police departments, where they're taught that the police is an entitled class, to be feared, never look straight into the eyes, answer to things in "yes sir"" and "no sir", you can't ask them questions, and you are lucky you're not in handcuffs, you are going to end up with entitled pricks, who think they're to be adored and "obeyed", no questions asked, and if you don't comply, "we're going to do a few things to your body".

In police departments, where they're trained to think of themselves as public servants, there to protect and serve, and have polite interactions with people, you don't run into too many problems.

I am not American; I just know dickholes even if they are in police suits.
How many times was he ordered to exit the vehicle? Quite a few times. Had he complied it would not have necessitated the actions taken by the police.
Perhaps had he complied and was told why he was stopped, the reasons as per that Police department’s response to pulling a vehicle over, a clarification and a proper apology and thanks by the police for his cooperation for the situation, a cop would not have been fired and this Lieutenant’s career put in question.

I followed this on the news, and the vehicle the army guy was driving was recently purchased, and had a paper license plate on the back which may or may not have fallen off, which was the reason for the stop.

When the army guy began to protest and would not get out of the car immediately, you could see the cops begin to bristle and become more violent. Then the army guy mouths off some more, and says, "Is this how you treat our military?" He was provoking the police verbally and by being really, really slow in getting out of his vehicle.

The cops probably wondered if the vehicle had been stolen with the paper license plate issue.

The black guy obviously didn't listen really well, or believe his parents when they gave him "the talk". You do NOT argue with police officers. You simply do whatever they want.

This guy really IS lucky to be alive. My sense is that he came really close. The officers did NOT fire, but I was pretty shocked at how quickly it went from bad to worse. I wondered, too, if the camo made the police nervous. If he were army, he might even be armed.

It is not normal for police to pull someone over at night for a “missing” license plate on a brand new vehicle unless there has been a report of a stolen vehicle.

What you know about standard protocol couldn’t fill a thimble.

Police are obligated to inform any citizen why they are being pulled over unless there are exigent circumstances. There were none here.

Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Zonuss No. We have the whole “mass murder” thing on our side which is much more disturbing than the above. 🙄

The only thing I do find odd is the “rage”. If it was a black cop killing a white man, we’d think, “Fuck it. He probably deserved it.” And five seconds later it’d be an afterthought. It wouldn’t even make the news. Rarely does.

But, if we’re staying in topic, white cop killing a black man... my first thought is, was the man armed? If not, no matter what, you can’t use lethal force in any circumstance unless the force attacking you is lethal. That kind of power trip should cost you your badge, if not your freedom. That’s what you signed up for.
@Adogslife What a pandering little girl. You go to all trouble of making a huge reply with numbers then you asked if you are saying if blacks are more violent than whites. Then, like a little pussy you have to bring up "mass murder"pinning that on whites - what a pathetic, impotent, little white fool.

I support both, but I don't support ignorance or bullying. From all the incidents I've seen where people have been harmed in one way or another, it's usually because they don't do one simple thing, they don't comply. If you've done nothing wrong, then what is the problem?

I don't know everything about this one case here, there is a lot we don't know about what happened prior to what we're are shown, but I can tell you this, there is more to it. There always is. So, again in answer to your question, I support both the troops and those in blue that do their jobs to the best of their ability and with honor.

Neither acted correctly from this video, once the driver was pulled over in a safe, well lit place, all he had to do was comply with the request to exit his vehicle, identify himself and explain his actions. Yes, the Cops were overly aggressive but the driver did himself no good by not pulling over sooner. The Police never know who they're pulling over nor what weapons might be in the driver's possession, assuming the driver is a good guy and has no weapons has got a lot of good Cops killed
@spjennifer

. Where did he threaten the man that would have caused the officer to be fired?
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@soar2newhighs Right around 1:30 where the Cop tells him "You're fixin' to ride the lightning son" and again where the driver says "I'm honestly afraid to get out" and the Cop tells him "You should be" at about 1:55 those are both threats and the Cops should not have threatened him which is probably what got him fired.

Next order "get out of the car"

Next order: "keep your hands where I can see them"

"I'm afraid to get out"

Other officer " you're about to ride the lightening (threatened of execution)"

Officer: "i will let you go if you just cooperate. But if you don't cooperate after I have pepper sprayed you, kicked you in the knees and dropped you to the ground...then I am going to arrest you and ruin your military career and service"

Here’s a simple test that can be conducted with a polygraph machine before any man can be so much as considered in becoming a cop.
Question 1: Were you a bully in school?
Question 2: Were you bullied in school?
Question 3: Have you ever been diagnosed with PTSD?

FFS!! Just do what these officers are asking...why resist!!!! This dude is just aggravating the situation. OBEY THE LAW!!! In this case, it's the cops that I'm backing. Period.
@Kwek00 Very simple.
If the circumstances lead a police officer to reasonably believe that you have committed, are committing, or are about to commit a crime, the officer can legally detain you until they can confirm or eliminate their suspicions.
This authority to briefly stop you goes back to an important Supreme Court case from 1967—Terry v. Ohio.
This case set the precedent that a police officer can stop and question a person if the police officer is “…performing a legitimate function of investigating suspicious conduct.”
These types of stops are known as either “Terry stops” (after the court case) or “investigative stops.”
During a “Terry stop,” an officer can legally ask you for identification, as well as frisk you for weapons.

Again, this is THE LAW. Not my opinion, not my precious feelings. Law son. Snap out of it and wake up.

I imagine their opinion of anyone carrying a weapon who makes ‘mistakes’ like this is very poor.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@meJess That would likely be a shooter or sniper. And living each day all day with a weapon in a war zone is slightly different than a profession in which a person isn't likely to ever draw their weapon, much less fire it.
meJess · F
@Graylight I thought US police officers were obligated to practice regularly. A long serving one should know what the weapon feels like.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@meJessMost departments I'm aware of practice an hour a month. There is in service training, but it usually revolves around things other than physical training and conditioning. And the range training we're talking about is standing and firing at a target. The most dynamic it ever gets is when the officer is instructed to walk toward the target while firing. Hardly learning to live with your weapon as an extension of your body.

More than that, most officers never even draw a weapon. I come from a family of four Camden, NJ police officers, one of whom was the chief of police for years. In four separate careers in a violent city during civil rights riots, not one of them ever drew a service revolver except for a picture. We can have an army that protects police against citizens or we can have a police force that protects citizens against injustice.
