I've given my oath in the past to defend the Constitution. I would give it again to defend the system of government laid out in the Constitution. If my country or my leaders are not living within that Constitution, they are not worth defending.

Well, I will work and speak out for justice, for the downtrodden (who are deserving), and for truth because I'm a team player. That's just the way I roll.
4meAndyou · F
I love my country. I did try to enlist, but my father talked me out of it. If I had not been deterred, I would have SERVED my country...and if I had died while doing it, it would have been an unintended consequence.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
I gave my oath to the Queen and served 18 years in the RAF. I’ve done my bit.
Yourwildestdreams · 51-55, M
It's also worth noting that the concept of dying for one's country can be nuanced and complex. What does it mean to "die for one's country"? Is it about defending against external threats, or is it about upholding certain ideals or principles? How do we balance our loyalty to our country with our loyalty to ourselves, our families, and our communities?🤷🏼♂
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
Yes in the past I definitely would have that is why I have been also decorated for my years of service now the way the country is headed today that might be a different story
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
I served my country for 27 years, other folks serving their cause tried to kill me, but God did not have that in the cards for me and I watched the enemy die. Enough said.
JackOatMon · 46-50, M
Spent 21 years in the military and yes, some things are worth fight for.
Raaii · 22-25, F
Yes because I love my country no because I've a family and I love my family more than my country I guess like if I've to choose between mother and motherland I'll still choose mother anyday
SinlessOnslaught · M
Nope
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I once defended this country over two different parties. Carter and Reagan. Not certain if I would under this current administration.
His very values are not constitutional. And his principals are based on self greed.
He has raped the very spirit of the constitution and has gotten away with it. There is nothing more egregious, than raping the spirit of anything.

@ElwoodBlues You know that I have made that point.
I don't know how many times that I have said Trump has no principles other than to himself.
Principals are the basis of values.

@ElwoodBlues Musk needs to be eradicated. He is an enemy of the state.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Same. I served under Reagan. The present crop of oligarchs? No.Hell.No.

Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Not, I have bills to pay
I have no such plans.. i prefer to fight wars with words and reason instead of bloodshed
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Hell no. Not worth it. I might die defending my freedom but that would be about something else.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Now? Not a chance.
PalteseMalconFunch · 36-40, T
Not for a country, but for people
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
No. I once was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. I have no loyalty to any earthly nation. Especially not the evil and lawless nation that Canada has become. The Canadian PM is protecting Chinese drug smuggling around the world. His soon to be replacement is cut from the same cloth.

No. I'm not "patriotic" at all. Flag waving and jingoistic anthems make me puke. So no, I would never join any military at all.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
The only person or thing I would die for is myself.
Tracos · 51-55, M
depends on who is doing the asking and why
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
You justify wars with that kind of talk.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
The idea isn't to die for it.
The whole point is to get the enemy to die instead.

No. A country only exists on paper anyway

Would you die for SW? Why or why not?
@SkeetSkeet I will (humour me on this) put the reverse question: Would SW die for me?
