I don’t think there’s anything so formal, but the people with the most money and power definitely all know each other and work together to advance their own interests.
But these are the real rich and powerful. The ones with enough money and influence to make sure no one knows who they are.

The actual history of the Illuminati is far funnier and stupider than one would imagine.

There have been multiple organizations called that. None of them have wielded any particularly serious form of power. The figures that run the world are pretty obvious and easy to spot.

Of course I believe in them. I know a guy who was a Freemason for a while, and he told me that the Illuminati were to the Freemasons what the Freemasons are to the rest of us. An exclusive old boys' club.
