If women really do get paid less than men for same hours and productivity, why aren’t economists not hiring just women to halve their overheads?

Seems obvious. 💰

Unless it’s not true…

When i was a truck driver back in the 80..90s , I was paid the same for my time as a man. That's why i worked like a man....lol..,😎

The caste system is beneficial to the capitalist and harmful to the workers. The capitalist doesn't mind if we blame women and blacks, foreigners and the poor.
MethDozer · M
@easterniowegin Nonsense. The workers are the ones who are usually sacrificing their sleep, mental health, family affairs, and healt/safety/lives to meet production.

Who runs the machines of spinning cogs? Who is up there on the roof? Who is spraying the toxic chemicals? Who is staying late and working 60 hours a week to meet production and barely scraping by with the pay? Who's standing next the 9,000lbs. Swinging on a crane? Who's crawling down in a giant mud hole? Who's reaching into the epectric panel?

Workers are insulated from the "risks"....🤣

It isn't the owner/investor were his ornamental hardhat and clean boots next to his shiney new car while pointing fingers.

@MethDozer your feelings are getting in the way of facts. You don't understand business or what risk is. Thanks for trying.
MethDozer · M
@easterniowegin My feelings??? Lol okie dokie.

Working labor involves no risk. The only risks that matter is the all mighty capitalist dollar. Buisiness is far more important than people. Economics is a science and natural force. It is hy no means some invented game. Capitalism is just a natural state.🤣🤣🤣

Oh those nobel and downtrodden capitalist iwner class members. They jusy give and provide so much and get nothing but hate.

Where oh where would we be without them?
You do not know much. There aren't as many women qualified for certain jobs. That is why. How old are you that you have such false ideas? You oughta know better, dude.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
in the case of the UK there's a little law known as The sex discrimination act 1975. that makes discrimination against women in favour of men in the world of employment illegal.

In the USA it's known as The equality act.
It’s illegal in Australia to pay 2 ppl different wages for the same job..
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
So you cannot reward higher performers? Or pay someone with more experience more?
I’ll put it this way…
If you could pay women less, why don’t businesses employ only women and save tonne$?
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout agreed.
As a whole, I don't believe the gap exists, systematically. I do believe that performance should impact salaries though.
Because we all remember star wars and the force is female from kathleen kennedy.. which is sad because she helped create the original jurassic park movie with stephen Spielberg
A significant part of the issue is women not understanding how to negotiate for more money.
A quick note to the ladies who found this joke funny - you make the site worth it. Drinks are on me 🥂
Entwistle · 56-60, M
It's not true. Women tend to work less hours than men. Amongst other reasons.
Iwantyourhotwife · 22-25
That's a rational question but it is missing context
Morrowind · 26-30, M
Maybe don’t think they are good at the job
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Some companies do. I worked in one.
Renaci · 36-40
Because misogyny also exists so they only want men.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@DazzaTheHutt well, Not too doubtful...women weren't even "allowed" to work in certain positions like lawyers, doctors. When they were more than capable. They lost many many dollars then, but didn't care because it was a "woman". 😑
@Coralmist And in other possessions women just aren’t interested.

You never see women complaining that they are under represented in mining, construction, heavy manufacturing and other roles they consider beneath them.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@DazzaTheHutt Yet there are women in those professions ...just not more than men. It would be like saying "Well men aren't as interested in child care or preschool teaching positions, so they shouldn't be a lawyer then. "
