Simetimes when you are driving in hilly country and a truck is coming toward you it is like sunrise when it comes up over the crest of a hill.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SensibleJulie Yes. I fucking hate it.

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
As you age, you develop cataracts and the headlights can really be problematic.
It doesn’t help that there are so many taller, SUVs and pickup trucks on the road and their headlights are aimed right at my face, as I drive a lower sedan
@Tamara68 yep, and the new LED lights are also a lot brighter
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Ghostinthemachine There's talk of making those damn things illegal, and I'm all for it.
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@LordShadowfire I can't wait!
Matt85 · 36-40, M
The new LED lights can be quite bright.
If someone has their high-beams on, I fash them.
Iwillwait · M
@Matt85 They are already at highbeam.
Coming around a blind corner on a dim night, it's like Close Encounters of The Third Kind.
Where do they get these bulbs and light panels??
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@SethGreene531 yeah, I can't help but grumbling and cursing in my car about those idiots.
@SethGreene531 A guy was driving on a warm dark summer night and was blinded by the lights of an oncoming car and as the car passed a woman yelled out "PIG". "Ya you too lady #%*#@* 🖕! As he turned to focus on the road ahead he slammed into a pig 🐖 crossing the road.
@Tamara68 Same.
It's a complete whiteout, destroying any night vision long enough to be a hazard.
Imagine the highbeams?!!

I find it interesting that you can be ticketed in some jurisdictions for not dimming highbeams; but these bulbs are permitted standard issue on new vehicles now. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
I’ve experienced this, yes. Just make sure you get your eyes checked as recommended for your age - sometimes it can be our vision that is changing and not the lights themselves.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
Yes. People in general have been realizing there's a growing issue which is why now the brightness is being cut back on etc. It's so annoying and downright dangerous
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@deadgerbil where is it cut back now? I can only see an increase in bright lights so far .
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@Tamara68 it's happening, just will take a long time

https://www.axios.com/2023/02/26/car-headlights-too-bright-led
Tracos · 51-55, M
especially Teslas seem to be designed to blind opposing traffic, and I think mane new led bicycle lights are painfully bright as well
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Tamara68 there are new lights and new regulations. The most amazing technology changes the shape and direction of the lights.
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@samueltyler2 that's great, but I think it will take a long time until all cars use that.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Tamara68 In the US the law hasn't changed, yet, to allow full use of the pixel headlights. I understand my vehicle has them, but that capability has not been activated by the manufacturer. The car is a computer on wheels, receiving periodic software upgrades over the air.
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
The lights are too bright, it is not my vision.
JohnnyNoir · 61-69, M
Same. I’m also very annoyed with non emergency vehicles that have flashing yellow and white lights constantly going. I’m amazed they haven’t triggered seizures in some drivers
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
Some are, and too many don't bother to turn down their high beams when other traffic approaches. 🙄
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Some are too bright. They need to find a way to focus them more so they don't affect other drivers.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Yeah, it's annoying. It's a combination of people not being sensitive to others and a growing number of people having poor eyesight in the dark due to improper nutrition.
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
@MarkPaul Plus you've smarted off to me and use juvenile phrases.
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
@MarkPaul So wise up or we're taking you off the payroll.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@JohnnySpot Yeah, but I'm not trendy.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I haven't drove in the dark in year's
Yes and the older I get, the worse it gets.

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Have you had an eye exam? That can be the sign of a early cataract. That was the first sign I had, and I started with them at about your age. Also, the new auto lights tend to be brighter.
SW-User
Yes, yes, yes 😬 when cars are coming towards me at night, I almost have to slow down to a crawl until they pass just to see
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@SW-User I let them pass too, whenever I can
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
At least your in a car. When your on a bicycle the oncoming cars don't even turn down their high beams.
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
I totally agree, not just the headlights but the brake lights too, why on earth can people not use their hand/parking brake when stopped in traffic.
SW-User
Yeah I hate driving in the dark. 💡
lovelyguy143334 · 36-40, M
Well same thing happens with me also
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
LEDs are way too bright.
1234cardiff · 61-69, M
Omg, yes! I'm hoping they will be viewed as a safety hazard and have to be made dimmer.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MsSwan Oh, Ms. Swan.
@MarkPaul 🙄
Those blue ones are the worst
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@BeefySenpie They should be illegal.
Iwillwait · M
Yep! The LED lights are horrible.
Tetsuya · 56-60, M
yes
and they need to be aimed down a bit lower
pdockal · 56-60, M
All depends on perspective
Mine are old and aren't bright enough
Bang5luts · M
Yes
I drive with sun visor down at night 😆
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Bang5luts I drive with my sunglasses at night. And y'all thought it was just a song.
daddybloke · 46-50, M
they are becoming ridiculous
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@daddybloke Wank factor 'daylight running' lights are becoming ridiculous.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
Lots of aftermarket led and hid headlights now that are generally not installed right. Plus all those stupid wank factor Drl's and led whiskers
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Absolutely. I wish there was a way to just disable the damn things as people shine them in my face.
Tamara68 · 56-60, F
@LordShadowfire that would be great!
