Does sound funny, I'm sure he did not sweat over it. Oh well if that's what he wants...

Also regarding 'some of us guys think women actually do.' For the longest time men have been told to cry, show emotion and be like women. This is where that comes from. I'm traditional and don't do that, but lots of today's men do.

@nightjourney

Ok I'll answer that question. You want to know the facts? My mother died not too long ago and no I didn't cry. I don't do that. Almost no males I grew up with cry either. Yeah it's ok though, but most of us from my generation aren't into that. We express emotions in other ways like I build things and am productive. Then turn around and feel good about what I've created that will last like a work of art, yeah that moves me. Another example? Listen closely to tenor Lucianno Pavarotti's operatic crescendo at the very end of "Nessun Dorma" as he belts out some serious soul and watch the faces...

...yeah, that shit moves me alright

@MiserableAtBest How is it so different today? Actually, with Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan plus smaller skirmishes, there has been as much or more of that in the 50+ years since 1970 than between 1920 and 1970.

All these girls that glorify men of the past seem to forget one critical thing; you would be making their dinner and cleaning their house or they would slap the teeth out of your mouth.

And if you tried to tell the cops they would tell your husband to hit you harder.

So yeah, the past isn't as glamorous as it looks on TV.
bucktard · 41-45, M
@SW-User That’s the point of a generalization duh , he’s talking about the majority of men back then, not the minority. There’s always a minority in every society. And there’s always this annoying person to say “ not all are like that “ , of course not, but what are the statistics? The ratio? People who don’t get his comment have some reading and comprehension disabilities.
SW-User
@bucktard as if pointing the other side of the coin isn't valid, I mean if you don't have anything else to do than giving judgemental opinions about a comment from ages ago that's sad.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard yeah I was stating that not everyone had the need to use violence when if it was acceptable, I know what you mean
Really?

Youre going on image only.

Would you reay like a 1920's man?
You wouldn't be allowed to drive, vote, be anything else but a maid or washer woman.
Your whole life would be expected to revolve around home, children and religion.

You wouldn't have any control over money, decisions of even your own choices.

I can see your ideal here, there is something Dayum sexy about a man In a suit, who is gallant and chivalrous.

But with those mentalities came other not so admirable one's.

Be wary of what you wish for, you just might get it.

@nightjourney Me too. At my age, I do not want to marry again but I do wish there was such a thing as finding a gentleman friend my age whom I could just hang out with without them wanting to use me for "extra benefits". But that is like wishing for the Moon. I know better than to think that would ever happen. Those type gentleman just do not exist today. Sad.

@MalteseFalconPunch People who think things were better “back in the day” and weren’t around then, crack me up. Men are not stuck in stereotypical roles because women aren’t anymore. And I don’t want to go back. My grandmother actually had a college degree and a career—very unusual for that time—until her family made her give it up and marry the husband they chose for her. 🙄

Back to the 20s eh? Well, you wouldn't have to work anymore and you could be a live in bang maid, while your man works, and you can spend your days keeping the house clean, gossiping with the neighbors and making yourself pretty for when he comes home from work. Awful lot more racism back then though.

@nightjourney No. People who were depressed were often institutionalized, some even lobotomized. Considered an embarrassment and put away. People did a lot of hiding back then. It seems like more people are depressed because you can see them. They’re being counseled, treated with medication and mostly allowed to live autonomous lives, not locked away.

Personally, I think men around 1920 are more misogynist, players and possessive.

Don't take videos from Peaky Blinders. The movie wasn't made around 1920, right?
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@iamelijah I dunno about that.

Marriage had more value back then. Men wanted a good wife and were willing to do what it took for the wives and families.

That's not to say there wasn't misogyny, but there were different dynamics back then.

I think old school feminism was very necessary to bring balance into the equation, but I think in modern times there is a lot of confusion and animosity, and dysfunction between the sexes.

It's 2021, and a lot of men and women are unhappy and unfulfilled when it comes to dating and sexual dynamics.

A lot of them had misogynistic ideals though. Products of their time. I wouldn't idealized the past and would rather focus on finding nice people with the behavioral qualities I treasure in the present
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@somedude15 The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
They are still around, they have just backed out of the serious relationship game because the masculinity they exude has been labeled as toxic. They have been shunned by the politically correct society.
just for the record i think gay guys are cute and i like living in a liberal world even tho its not for me.. i feel like prince was gay and forced to stay closeted.. he wasn't allowed to be his true self.. and i sympathize for him..

i like manly men but kindness is supreme and the era of hats and horses were romantical but i like the speed of tec and jets
old school values and class 👍🏼@nightjourney

@SStarfish There was always a trade-off.

I liked certain things about those times, the way the depressed 💫💫💫💫, people more romantic, I really like their style, but definitely there were lots of negative things, specially how women were treated back then. Or what everyone expected them to be. Too rigid. Now yes there are expectations but more independence and freedom.

@nightjourney compare what women did those days, only expected to stay at home, kinda serving their husbands, people stayed together not because of love exactly.
well when they don't have to work their asses off because there is no man that works hard enough to make ends meet anymore, then these woman can come back 😬
And that is pretty elegant
Well all I can say is when I moved back from California with nothing except a uhaul with all I owned, dragging my small car on a trailer (that broke apart halfway home 1,000+ miles away), and about a thousand bucks to my name, it took a few years of working my glutes off to get back on my feet again. After 3-4 years I bought a condo, a nice car that I paid off, a tenant that pays regular rent on time, and a hopeful future. Saving money instead of spending it is key. Now I can look forward to moving to Panama when I retire.

Btw, that lady has something that distinguishes her from others - class and quality. But there is also something hidden that you cannot readily see - she has obvious self-respect and dignity. Honorable characteristics. These women can come back, anyway.

History repeats this pattern regularly. The point is, right now there are few warriors. They're not being raised anymore and soon there will be none. We have what you see around you each day, which I figure is the reason for your post in the first place. Hope this helps you.
