Is your choice of clothing affecting your ability to learn? No? Then it's suitable for school.
Sharon · F
@hdiddle It's not like that here in the UK. School children are subjected to extremely draconian uniform rules, right down to the precise shade of their socks (obtainable at exorbitant prices exclusively from the school's "official supplier") while teachers dress just as they please. Chilren's hairstyles are often strictly specified too while the teachers have multi-coloured hair in what would be "extreme styles" if worn by the children.

If I'm expected to adapt to others' whims, they can reciprocate by showing me the same respect by adapting to mine.
hdiddle · 26-30, M
@Sharon That only works if you have authority over them. Or you could not go to a private school...
Sharon · F
@hdiddle Who said anything about private schools? I'm referring to state schools, where the (head)teachers strut around their little empires like petty dictators - until they're slapped down by the courts when parents take legal action. Thankfully I left school a long while ago.
Baileybird · 31-35, F
People worry far too much the length of a skirt or crop top instead of focusing on the grades and academic achievements that they are likely making. I’m much more concerned with good grades than short skirts or crop tops.
tigard · 41-45, C
@Baileybird That's a guy, you know?
Baileybird · 31-35, F
@tigard That picture below is a guy? OMG. I’m not like a judgmental person but I’m surprised
Lynda70 · F
@SW-User
people only really worry about getting educated and getting grades
Those are the least of UK schools' priorities. Their top priorities are making up and enforcing petty, pointless, rules.
OliRos · 18-21, F
Not for my school. We had uniforms for everything.

Usual banter between @OliRos and me. :-)
OliRos · 18-21, F
@MissBrittany 🤗 Thank you for leaping to my defence. @ArtieKat is an old friend (and I do mean old) and we have to excuse him his occasional lapse of taste.

btw I can be quite animalistic in some circumstances.
Lemon12 · 22-25, F
I know Im late, but honestly its fine. I just wish the skirt was a little longer
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@Lemon12 thank you 😊
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No, but because it looks tacky and sloppy: frayed denim skirt, "loud" tweed jacket over a sweat-shirt or a pullover, nothing seeming to fit properly.

If the school, or the school year allegedly represented here, does not insist on a uniform it should expect smart clothes.

One point often overlooked or ignored is that education is more than just learning academic subjects. It is also a sort of training for life, and many school-leavers are likely to find themselves in careers or at least employment where a good standard of personal appearance is expected, perhaps ordered, and may even have a uniform.
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
I would say college yes, high school no
YAY! If I was sat opposite you, I'd have to drop my pen under the desk just to get a secret look😀
Daisy128 · F
Ita cute :) I know it wouldnt be allowed in my school but still like it!
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Daisy128 what are you uniform requirements?
Lynda70 · F
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@Lynda70 😂😂
jennamay · 26-30, F
Do you think it is appropriate?
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@jennamay ouch 😳 the best question ever. Honestly not
jennamay · 26-30, F
@Stubborn17 message me to chat more about it? :)
Lynda70 · F
@jennamay I don't see anything wrong with it.
Not sure. We had to wear uniform in highschool and there’s a dress code in college.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Whatever you want to wear
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
I'm shocked to see that over 50% or you actually find it appropriate for school
Lynda70 · F
@Stubborn17 I'm concerned that anyone finds it inappropriate.
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@Stubborn17 i think its way too short
Lynda70 · F
@1olderguy20 I don't see anything wrong with it.
Court69 · M
Very appropriate your legs will spread so nicelymmm
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@SW-User yes I just ignore comments like that
SW-User
@Stubborn17 I don’t blame you, but this site is a minefield.
@SW-User It’s a rude comment to make to a woman, and especially to a young girl. 🙄
DaddyThomas · 46-50, M
I prefer school uniforms
Sharon · F
@DaddyThomas Yes, if teachers think they're a necessary educational aid then they should be provided from the school's budget. Alternatively, employ more competent teachers who can educate children regardless of how they're dressed, like other Euroupean countries do.
DaddyThomas · 46-50, M
@Sharon for gymnastics, science class etc it’s better to have a school uniform
Sharon · F
I checked yes, because what you wear is your business. If you don't like people looking you wouldn't wear it
Beth70 · 51-55, F
Come to my house and wear that to school…
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
@Beth70 messaged you
As long as you're not violating indecent exposure I think it's free roam status. Go crazy
In my school we wore uniforms. One thing I remember is that there were fewer problems with bullying (around clothing), people didn’t get beaten up and have designer items stolen. Nobody got sent home for wearing something "too revealing" (although some girls were told to replace uniform skirts that they’d hemmed too short), and where there was gang activity nobody was endangered by inadvertently wearing gang "colors". There were all kinds of school issues, but this was just one less hassle for the administration.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@bijouxbroussard Absolutely true.
Lynda70 · F
@bijouxbroussard In the UK, most schools insist the uniform be bought from the school, or its "official suppliers", at a greatly inflated price. Children from impoverished families, who have to juggle eating, heating, or simply keeping a roof over their heads, and can't easily afford the overpriced uniform, are bullied by the teachers by being put into isolation. That continues until their parents "see sense" and the family goes hungry or cold long enough to save enough money to buy one.
Blake10Exe · M
Yesss! Looks great. Girls dress terrible at my school ngl
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Do you mean for you at college? Why should anyone care?
Baileybird · 31-35, F
My opinion…..not if you make good grades
Stephanidunord · 18-21, F
What ever you feel comfortable with tbh
daddybloke · 46-50, M
why not its perfect
PunkRockSuperStar · 56-60, M
It's hard for me to say because the schools here in Scotland mostly have school uniforms, and you wouldn't be allowed to wear what you want.

But if you feel good in that skirt, I think you should wear it.
ronnie · 56-60, M
I am not sure what the kids wear where others are, but here it is amazing that it is allowed. The boys generally wear blazers and long trousers. But regardless of school, girls now wear skirts that that expose the bottom of their arses. Black panytyhose/tights. Very tight fitted white blouses and silly short ties. Alternatively, they will wear very tight leggings.

The girls at all the schools dress like this and it can be quite embarassing if you are near them.

This is in Scotland.

The image above is very, very moderate compared to our lassies.
SW-User
@ronnie This has always been the case.
Girls are beginning to explore how they can tempt and control men.
deadgerbil · 22-25
Nuh but that doesn't really stop people from turning school into some weird fashion show so it's whatever lol
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@deadgerbil I'm the weirdo then?
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
yey...how short is the skirt when she stands up? this is actually far dressier than most girls wear to public schools nowadays
That keyboard doesn't look very southern? Well, depending on what kind of southern girl you talk about in your bio, of course...
kleinemaus · 36-40, F
I don't know, the strict people are probably in favor of it?
Lynda70 · F
@kleinemaus I wouldn't say "strict", I'd just call them what they are - "control freaks"'
kleinemaus · 36-40, F
@Lynda70 But "control freaks"' surely the are also strict?
Lynda70 · F
@kleinemaus True, it is just the motive that could be different.
dimmerdork · 61-69, M
What’s your aunt’s opinion…seeing, in your case, that’s the one that matters..?
Strongtea · 22-25, M
It would be too short for the school I went to, girls would get sent home to change.
Lynda70 · F
@Strongtea We weren't sent home to change, we just got the slipper.
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
if it is too short by school standards, do you support corporal punishment for it?
SW-User
Yes a MacBook is appropriate for school
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@SW-User 😅 agreed
SW-User
@Stubborn17 still, I know what you meant…😏
deadteddy · 26-30, F
That’s not even you
deadteddy · 26-30, F
@Stubborn17 Very funny but at least not the one perving on my aunt and impersonating a young girl 🤡
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@deadteddy i think shes legitimate
deadteddy · 26-30, F
@1olderguy20 As legitimate as a $35 dollar bill. But you old men love to fantasize about catfishes so let it be 🥱
Sevendays · M
Of course, that jacket is very appropriate.
chrisCA · M
@Sevendays I like that jacket.
Sevendays · M
@chrisCA me too.
If you feel you need to ask then you probably already know the answer
SW-User
I think this is why my older son stayed on an extra year.
househubbi · 51-55, M
Do you mean the rings? Definitely! But seriously, I would think a lot of people would say your skirt is too short. I’m not one of them though and I think it’s fine if you want to wear a miniskirt to school or anywhere else. Your hem is ragged though! and with all those hanging threads, it doesn’t look finished. I think you should hem your skirt properly so it looks neat.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
As long as its presentable I don't see a problem with it.
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
I fail to see how anyone could think that wouldn't be appropriate
GabbySA8 · 18-21, F
More appropriate for a date💖
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@GabbySA8 yes I so agree with you
BearDownChicago · 41-45, M
I don’t see a problem in it. Looks appropriate
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
Cute and stylish i like it
bikelover · 51-55, M
Looks perfectly fine 😉
Alex51 · 61-69, M
Suitable for school
Straight to the nunnery
alisonjayne · 46-50, F
Far too short im afraid!
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
It’s fine.
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
