Is your choice of clothing affecting your ability to learn? No? Then it's suitable for school.

@hdiddle It's not like that here in the UK. School children are subjected to extremely draconian uniform rules, right down to the precise shade of their socks (obtainable at exorbitant prices exclusively from the school's "official supplier") while teachers dress just as they please. Chilren's hairstyles are often strictly specified too while the teachers have multi-coloured hair in what would be "extreme styles" if worn by the children.
If I'm expected to adapt to others' whims, they can reciprocate by showing me the same respect by adapting to mine.

Absolutely!
Baileybird · 31-35, F
People worry far too much the length of a skirt or crop top instead of focusing on the grades and academic achievements that they are likely making. I’m much more concerned with good grades than short skirts or crop tops.
tigard · 41-45, C
@Baileybird That's a guy, you know?
Baileybird · 31-35, F
@tigard That picture below is a guy? OMG. I’m not like a judgmental person but I’m surprised
Lynda70 · F
@SW-User
people only really worry about getting educated and getting grades
Those are the least of UK schools' priorities. Their top priorities are making up and enforcing petty, pointless, rules.
EagerDaddy · 46-50, M
Yay!
EagerAmber · F
Love it
TallMtnMedic · M
Depends on the school. But yes!
Tiredish · F
Nope, that is perfect ❣
OliRos · 22-25, F
Not for my school. We had uniforms for everything.

Usual banter between @OliRos and me. :-)
OliRos · 22-25, F
@MissBrittany 🤗 Thank you for leaping to my defence. @ArtieKat is an old friend (and I do mean old) and we have to excuse him his occasional lapse of taste.
btw I can be quite animalistic in some circumstances.

Lemon12 · 22-25, F
I know Im late, but honestly its fine. I just wish the skirt was a little longer
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@Lemon12 thank you 😊
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No, but because it looks tacky and sloppy: frayed denim skirt, "loud" tweed jacket over a sweat-shirt or a pullover, nothing seeming to fit properly.
If the school, or the school year allegedly represented here, does not insist on a uniform it should expect smart clothes.
One point often overlooked or ignored is that education is more than just learning academic subjects. It is also a sort of training for life, and many school-leavers are likely to find themselves in careers or at least employment where a good standard of personal appearance is expected, perhaps ordered, and may even have a uniform.

It would be too short for me.
My parents had not allowed to wear such a short skirt. But it looks very nice.
But for school or college I didn’t allow such a short skirt for my girls

Msharsh · 46-50, F
It,would be difficult for me to concentrate on my studies with such an attractive young lady in such a short skirt.
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
@Msharsh would she need your disciplinary attention though?
Msharsh · 46-50, F
Of course, she would have to change into her gym shorts and report to my office. How many swats are appropriate for a dress code violation?
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
@Msharsh first offense? 5 swats, repeat offender 10 swats
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
I would say college yes, high school no

@SW-User Would it be a spankable offense at your house? If so, how intense a spanking?
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
I'm shocked to see that over 50% or you actually find it appropriate for school
Lynda70 · F
@Stubborn17 I'm concerned that anyone finds it inappropriate.
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@Stubborn17 i think its way too short
Lynda70 · F
@1olderguy20 I don't see anything wrong with it.

When I was a schoolteacher jewellery was forbidden. A very difficult rule to carry out, nowadays!
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
Jewelry?
jennamay · 26-30, F
Do you think it is appropriate?
jennamay · 26-30, F
@Stubborn17 message me to chat more about it? :)
dimfok · 22-25, M
@Stubborn17 hmm may I ask why not?
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
Not sure. We had to wear uniform in highschool and there’s a dress code in college.

Whatever you want to wear

DaddyThomas · 46-50, M
I prefer school uniforms
Sharon · F
@DaddyThomas Yes, if teachers think they're a necessary educational aid then they should be provided from the school's budget. Alternatively, employ more competent teachers who can educate children regardless of how they're dressed, like other Euroupean countries do.
DaddyThomas · 46-50, M
@Sharon for gymnastics, science class etc it’s better to have a school uniform
Sharon · F
@DaddyThomas Why?
Justafantasy · M
I checked yes, because what you wear is your business. If you don't like people looking you wouldn't wear it
bijouxbroussard · F
In my school we wore uniforms. One thing I remember is that there were fewer problems with bullying (around clothing), people didn’t get beaten up and have designer items stolen. Nobody got sent home for wearing something "too revealing" (although some girls were told to replace uniform skirts that they’d hemmed too short), and where there was gang activity nobody was endangered by inadvertently wearing gang "colors". There were all kinds of school issues, but this was just one less hassle for the administration.
OliRos · 22-25, F
@bijouxbroussard Absolutely true.
Lynda70 · F
@bijouxbroussard In the UK, most schools insist the uniform be bought from the school, or its "official suppliers", at a greatly inflated price. Children from impoverished families, who have to juggle eating, heating, or simply keeping a roof over their heads, and can't easily afford the overpriced uniform, are bullied by the teachers by being put into isolation. That continues until their parents "see sense" and the family goes hungry or cold long enough to save enough money to buy one.
Stephanidunord · 18-21, F
What ever you feel comfortable with tbh
daddybloke · 46-50, M
why not its perfect
Baileybird · 31-35, F
My opinion…..not if you make good grades
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Do you mean for you at college? Why should anyone care?
PunkRockSuperStar · 61-69, M
It's hard for me to say because the schools here in Scotland mostly have school uniforms, and you wouldn't be allowed to wear what you want.
But if you feel good in that skirt, I think you should wear it.

wexxxxcccc · M
Yes!
kleinemaus · 36-40, F
I don't know, the strict people are probably in favor of it?
Lynda70 · F
@kleinemaus I wouldn't say "strict", I'd just call them what they are - "control freaks"'
kleinemaus · 36-40, F
@Lynda70 But "control freaks"' surely the are also strict?
Lynda70 · F
@kleinemaus True, it is just the motive that could be different.
Msharsh · 46-50, F
Curious, just what is the dress code. at school these days for short skirts? I see young ladies from the local high school here wearing short shorts, very tight fitting. I think there should be dress code rules requiring a more modest code! Short shorts should be out. What IS a reasonable skirt length? I am ok with tight fits, it is the lack of coverage that seems too lenient. This particular young lady has very good sense of style and rocks her styles fantastic.
LamontCranston · M
@Msharsh Very well articulated, Ms Harsh.

Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@deadgerbil I'm the weirdo then?
Sevendays · M
Of course, that jacket is very appropriate.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
It would be too short for the school I went to, girls would get sent home to change.
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
if it is too short by school standards, do you support corporal punishment for it?
SUPERVlXEN · F
That keyboard doesn't look very southern? Well, depending on what kind of southern girl you talk about in your bio, of course...
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
yey...how short is the skirt when she stands up? this is actually far dressier than most girls wear to public schools nowadays
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
As long as its presentable I don't see a problem with it.
