This isn't just happening to people in their 40's, this is happening to people in their early 20's as well who are a generation that became socially inept because of Facebook, TikTok and Myspace.
The entire social life of a 20-something year old revolves around that cell phone in their hand they cannot live without because they have no reason to hang out with friends in person!
Then they go for a job interview at 21 years of age and they can't get through the interview because they sound like a 5 year old speaking to their mother because they've developed no social skills whatsoever over the past 15 years due to their total immersion in electronic social media.
Got a buddy that sometimes admits he feels lonely, but after what he's been through, he's content without risking it again. Some people just get too damaged, and that desire for a partner just ain't strong enough.
Been there, done that. After my last divorce, I went on a mad dating spree...and found the dregs of the universe on several online dating sites. Eventually, I found ONE person I liked...but we met in person, and he was NOT on one of those disgusting dating sites.
He and I are still friends. And even though I like him, and even love him in my own way, (a little), I would not want to call him my partner any longer. I have standards...🤣🤣🤣
So I am perfectly completely happy alone...typing away...😊😊😊
There's nothing in this world. I am really depress and tired of living. I don't talk to people since I have no common. Just very different. Besides I don't type much either.
@swirlie Ok, but I'm not 'choosing' by choice because it feels completely normal and correct for me to not want to be social. Therefore not wanting to be dating, pursue sex and relationships, etc.but I wasn't always like that. I was always a loner not wanting friends or girlfriends or more but in my 20's and to some degree my 30's I was very social because I was deep into the rave scene and used to go partying by myself heaps. Still didn't do the friends thing and still don't now in my 50's.
@WowwGirl It's not a matter of 'healtyness'. It has *always* felt normal for me to be non-social and feel more comfortable by myself though I'm totally comfortable in the company of my 7 y/o daughter. Still I don't have any friends with kids of similar age so we don't really meet up with others.
I'm a generation age-wise above all the parents of her school classmates, and sometimes I do try to arrange social things for her and invite her school buddies, but because I'm a dad not a mum the social circle of class parents generally excludes the dads as mum's are socially-wired and dad's for the most part are not.
I would love to meet an awesome woman with a primary school age child but none of them would be in my age range and/or have the sort of work/life/parenting/balance I do. It's a fact I just have to live with since it alienates people from being interested in me with any romantic prospects. Unless a single woman with kids in her 40's sees value in my as a man in my 50's that's a realm that cannot exist for me.
Also any single women my age are the same as me - burnt and charred from previous relationship disasters and extremely fussy who they will consider as a romantic partner given most older women tend to be extremely selfish and narcissistic and expect everything to be all about them (almost to the total exclusion of reciprocated respect and consideration for a man or another woman she might choose to date).
I go. Out to the gym to the store and to do business.But when I do those things I am not looking.I am not searching because if it does not come to me it is not meant to be
I go out all the time but looking for a partner is definitely not on my list. I gotta wonder how many more like me there are🤷 Probably a shiiiiit looooadddd.
where I live you have to pay to park most places & in the summer its way toooo crowded in the winter the trails arent visible & easy to get lost/turned around etc
I still hike when I have the time but rarely run into women (yes I did say its crowded) where I choose away from the crowds
