We switched to pure white bia cordon bleu 30+ years ago and since it easily blends with so many other white tableware makers it's super easy to replace or add anything.
Meanwhile, I have a case of fine Wedgewood fancy stuff in the basement ready to give to anyone in the family or friends who wants it.
What I like about the wedgewood is that I bought from the factory at a super discount in the UK so it's not a serious treasure for me; more like an easily breakable nuisance with near impossible to replace pieces.

It might be cost saving to always buy extremely plain clear glassware, and very plain white crockery. Cutlery is no problem if you always buy the same pattern.
That way you can set the table for any number and everything will still match.

If it breaks, repair it.
If it goes missing... wait, how does crockery or cutlery go missing? After you use it, after you wash and dry it, you put it back in its place.
Kitchen organization is the first rule of presentation. 🧐

OCD?

If it interferes with your ability to cook or do other things then it's OCD.

It could be a numerical fixation related to OCD.
