She was thrust onto the world stage by her parents and a media driven by narrative,. Her narrative fit their agenda so they covered her with breathless anticipation of her every word. Her being covered like she was has given her an importance more deserved than it should be, why have a scientist on when you can have an emotional teenager get weepy on how the sky is falling? All the attention also makes her believe people listen to her because of her knowledge not her usefulness as a tool to get attention, sad all around, especially when we found out she is autistic.

Why does an autistic Swedish school girl inspire so much hatred from the Internet right? Most of the stuff I read is about her personally and ignores the issues.

If the world was actually concerned about climate change, wouldn't junk mail be eliminated by now?
I think that would be a solid step towards doing good. Less trees destroyed, less energy used in production and delivery, and less annoying pre-approved credit cards.
And the best part - less trash to deal with.

@CestManan Yep. How about a national push for more people to work from home permanently ? Transportation makes up 20% of global warming gasses, think how much we could reduce by just this simple step which we just proved could work due to the various and ongoing lockdowns from Covid.
If we get out of this, it certainly won't be because TPTB get together and come up with a bullshit agreement that is irrelevant and useless 5 years after it is agreed upon.

For me honestly, I do not know if I would last long in such a job because I try to keep home and work separate.

Because she has no power to alter anything except through her words? Reducing climate change cant be achieved by individual or private collective action, it is imperative that business and government get changed in their thinking and structure.

Because the progressive people belive in lieing and making poeple feel they have to live in fear. What they just need to do is just come down to our way of life . Work as a team and do it right . It starts with telling the truth , focus on each city by figuring out how to have clean air and making sure forrests are taking care of . Work with other countries that need extra help compared to others that don't need help.

Things like drive sensible cars instead of some huge trucks, muscle cars, or SUV.
Quit squeezing out babies left and right just because you want some big family (contributing to over-population)
Quit buying new gadgets when the old ones are just fine. Companies quit printing off junk mail. Quit wasting food.
We are most all guilty.
Some 18 year old kid going on a crusade won't change anything though.
Things like drive sensible cars instead of some huge trucks, muscle cars, or SUV.

Because at 18 years old she is talking to some adults, world leaders, that still believe that climate change will go away on it's own, like magic or a miracle, and we will all live happily ever after with sugar plum fairies dancing in our heads all night long and the sun will come out tomorrow, tomorrow. 🥰

@Oberon1 weather patterns have changed and adjusted as long as this planet has existed. Warming trends, cooling trends. Last February here we had the coldest sustained three days in almost 100 years. It was global warming but then we had a few record winters and that didn’t fit so it became climate change. Guess what? Climate changes lol

Honestly? I mean if we’re being honest. No one commenting here, and the vast majority of people, have no reasonable, intellectual basis for knowing one way or the other to what extent global warming exists and to what extent it’s caused by man as opposed to natural climate variation. Unless you have an understanding of physics, fluid dynamics and other complex disciples, you’re just parroting whichever narrative you choose to believe.
