I don't know, why do grown adults think it's worthwhile to mock a child who's doing what she thinks is right?
@Graylight Clearly behaving like an adult is not dependent on biological age.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Graylight She volunteered to be in the public spotlight. Don't expect a pass if you can't handle it.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster She's a kid. God, I hope you're not a parent.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Graylight Children can't address the world audience without adults. I hope you righteously drag her parents through the proverbial mud for their attention whoredom.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster My life is full enough right now that I don't give the issue that much thought at all.

But since I'm thinking about it at the moment, I wonder if you'd be screaming as loudly were she supporting the end of liberalism.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Graylight What makes you think I am screaming?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster If you're harping on about why a teenage girl is following her head and heart trying to do something good for the world and that creates an issue for you, there's no volume lower than hysterical.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Graylight What makes you think she is doing good, traveling around the world consuming carbon energy and filling her belly from food in single use plastic?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster Ever hear the phrase 'you have to spend money to make money?' The philosophy, perhaps a bit above your head, is the same.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Graylight It's not relevant, here. The adults could have made her as much of a victim by telecasting her from her kitchen table and you know it.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster Well, maybe you can put all your earth-sustaining tips into a recyclable brochure for the rest of us. Because I'm sure to criticize a young girl for her ideals, you must be working at full speed to solve the problem.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Graylight They are her parents' ideas, not hers. What problem is there that she can solve, when liberals are outsourcing jobs to countries that are still building new coal fired electricity generation stations?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@IronHamster Her father's an actor and her mother's an opera singer. Neither have any particular history with environmental causes. The girl you mock is also autistic, so they've given her lead to follow that which makes her happy and gives her purpose.

As for the rest, this isn't backyard barbecue drunk conservative talk hour.
@Graylight Maybe the "adults" who mock her are not as mature as she is, or as mature as they think they are....you've only to see the sort of "adults" who are clogging up petrol station forecourts because of the fuel delivery crisis...panic buying petrol.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@autumngirl27 Love that petro. How about the green companies outsourcing manufacturing to a country STILL commissioning a new coal generation station every single week? The NIMBYists cheering her on are doing more environmental damage than the whole US economy combined.
@IronHamster Mistakes will be made. That's no excuse not to keep on doing better and developing new ideas. THere's no NIMBY at all because the Earth is ALL our back garden. I'm not into "what about" arguments because that is another excuse not to do anything. And that is not good enough.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@autumngirl27 The environmentalist NIMBYists move production to the worst polluter on the planet. When AAPL pulls production from China I'll start believing they care. NIMBYism exists whether it is possible or not, so the fake environmentalists can claim they care.
@IronHamster Start tackling the massive environmental problems in your own country first and never mind "what about". China is a convenient excuse not to do anything. THere is increasing pressure being brought on China, but denying there is a problem in your own country is counter productive.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@autumngirl27 We could get down to zero emissions in the US and China would still not fix their shit, because companies like AAPL allow them to build a new coal fired plant every week.
@IronHamster You're just going round and round in circles. It's not just China. In Britain, there are still contracts being given to fossil fuel companies who want to frack the land for what amounts to a teaspoonful of oil for the amount of damage done to the air, land and water. And only two weeks ago, permission was given by the British government to open a coal mine, not thirty miles from where I live. In an area which would be perfect for green energy production. I can't speak for America, because I'm not American. I can speak about Britain, and it's more than a little disingenuous for Prime Minister Dickhead to lecture the world tpo "grow up" about climate change while having a hostile attitide to renewable ebergy. That, you must agree .
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@autumngirl27 America has enough nuclear capability that we could go zero emissions without filling our landfills with used wind turbine blades. Fake environmentalists won't hear of it, though. Europe is crazy to decommission nuclear reactors. Fukashima was critically flawed 1970's technology. Modern reactors are safe and environmentally friendly.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@IronHamster This wind power is an environmental nightmare! Those monstrosities only go up in low income areas for a reason. More hypocrisy from the hypocrites!
@Oberon1 Well if you say so it must be true. Too bad that is not actually reality.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It is reality. You are severely unknowledgeable about so many things, it's tragic.
@Oberon1 Sorry but Breitbart is not knowledge.
