The disabled, children and the elderly.

Exactly what i said was going to happen...

faery · 31-35, F
The elderly poor have medicare, for now.

And I think the current admins are going to find...
The new work requirements are set to take effect in states by the end of 2026, but health care advocates argue that many recipients already have jobs or are unable to work.

Quite strategically, most of the changes currently underway won't take effect until after and to improve chances for Republicans at midterms.

So, yeah, most medicaid recipients are children, people who already have low-paying jobs without health benefits and disabled people. So I think our "comrades" are going to need lots and lots of automation plus a remedial math course.
Carla · 61-69, F
@faery yes...the elderly have medicare, for now.
Many elders have low ss income. Even with medicare, co pays and medications are unaffordable. Many have a medicaid plan to supplement medicare.
faery · 31-35, F
@Carla Yep. I know a few who live that exact life.
Carla · 61-69, F
@faery i do as well.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
You know I never was on medicaid nor had any type of insurance until 2006. Only after I retired and after 65 was I automatically was forced on Medicare and they automatically deducted $160 from my social security.

Now I need that 160 a month. I'm way below the property line. This is not being addressed in any way.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@jackjjackson Guy he already cut the VA staffing with DOGE!

What good is a medical VA benefits without a staff.

It will take months to get a appointment.

Heck my counselor rushed to clear me before hand because she wouldn't have a position.
Carla · 61-69, F
@DeWayfarer he doesn't understand because he doesn't wish to.
Being unable to communicate with the va is enough. I refuse to use the va. One bad experience was enough. But many are forced to.
And medicaid is a lifeline for those poverty stricken seniors on minimum ss benefits. Copays for crucial medications alone can run into the many hundreds of dollars per month.
That's alright with jack though. Grandmas eating catfood and heating with handwarmers is his vision of a perfect america. Especially if that grandma is a democrat.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Carla This guy had the nerve to ask me why this person was protesting before the parade!...

Saying that he would help.
Piper · 61-69, F
First of all, that 34 million "able-bodied adults" on Medicaid number seems to have been
pulled out of thin air. After that, it is clear by everything the Agriculture Secretary said that not much thought was put into this plan...scheme she mouthed.

Aside from being callous, it is decidedly flawed and unrealistic.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Piper It is all of that.
It is the very idea of the words were mouthed at all.
Basically...medicaid will be history.
I'll go work on a farm, but do I get paid and will I get healthcare?
Carla · 61-69, F
@Adrift vacation, medical...

Seems a boon to farmers. Get cheap, abiet compromised, farm labor and the govt will cover medical.

Medicaid id paid by the govt.
But only if one meets the financial guidelines.
Jenna76 · 36-40, F
@ScreamingFox But isn't that really the point or am I missing it. We complain (well at least I do) about China and the Asian countries abusing its population/employees with minimal pay, horrendous hours and conditions and then they flood the American market with cheap goods that us Greedy Americans gobble up because you cant have enough 72" tv's and yet WE and right now it is the democrats supporting the idea that we should do the same, we will exploit the illegals so that our lawns get cut, groceries get picked to the shelf etc. It's stunning to me how Bernie could possible support this.
I think let the chips fall where they may clean everything up and live and pay what the market demands, that is capitalism. If if we have a shortage of labor we can increase the immigration to meet it as it is supposed to work.
MrGrumpy · M
@Jenna76 Swap out Asian countries for western countries and you get the working conditions here during Industrial revolution. We did it before they did. We exploited workers, polluted environment, destroyed eco systems.
I agree with what you’re saying though. But to me, it doesn’t have to be made here. It should be ethically made with fair wages. And it could still be cheap, just not as cheap
Capitalism isn’t about making things locally. It’s about making things efficiently
black4white · 56-60, M
Yes yes and now they get to TELL you where and what kind of work to do… wow

But his minions love it until they lose their benefits and told go work in the fields if you want to retain …will be interesting
black4white · 56-60, M
@Carla oh now now MAGA people are never wrong and will find a way to BLAME anyone but themselves…ya feel me
Carla · 61-69, F
@black4white i do. Feel you.
It will give their seething hatred fuel. It needs fuel...
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Carla [media=https://youtu.be/R8cdpg2Z_Cg]
No, I'm not going to try to work in the USA anymore until there's systemic change.
Northwest · M
Cool, because getting replaced by robots is why MAGA voted for him. But they will be American robots, or what we don't buy from, China, which dominates robot components.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Northwest where are our robot factories located?
Are they in the same place as those trump phone factories?
Matt85 · 36-40, M
if they could actually just hand them a job, instead of going through all the red tape and continual rejection by employers, more would work.
meJess · F
If you are able bodied why can’t you perform some manual labour? Is the alternative sitting at home and expecting to be paid?
meJess · F
@Carla if you have physical issues or are infirm due to age then you are not able bodied are you?
Carla · 61-69, F
@meJess doesn't quite matter, does it? Medicaid is going away for those can not work. Or they are working towards that. Read the article.
meJess · F
@Carla I read the article, it says that the able bodied should be able to work. Difficult to argue with that, assuming able bodied is properly defined.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Another bureaucrat who has clearly never set foot on a farm before, much less undertaken a labouring job.
Carla · 61-69, F
@SunshineGirl right? Ive done farm labor. If you aren't broken when you go in, you will be coming out.
TexChik · F
Yep no free passes comrade Carla. Waste, fraud, and abuse were just removed as a career path by the Trump administration. Prove that any of those people are not capable and physically able to work for a living.
Carla · 61-69, F
@TexChik i bet my people have been on this land far longer than yours.
I bet you didn't spend four years serving this country you say you love. I did.
I DO call myself an american. I was not only born into it, i earned it.
Have you?
TexChik · F
@Carla So now you're the super American? 🤣 Right 🙄, your constant anti-American diatribe betrays everything this country stands for.
Excellent smack down. Winner winner chicken dinner. @TexChik
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
Where lee harvey oswald when you need him? Is there even gonna be an american in a few more years?
Carla · 61-69, F
@Captainjackass he does.
Still...the oswald solution is unacceptable.
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
@Carla then prepare to live in a dictatorship forever.
chrisCA · M
@Captainjackass Pray to St. Luigi.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Bringing back the industrial revolution treadmill and poor house, excellent solution. I didn't know TRump was such a Dickens fan.
Carla · 61-69, F
@JimboSaturn likely not a dickens reader.
But certainly enamored with the gilded age.
Same/same
chrisCA · M
"Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?"
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
So basically he wants this country to be North Korea.
black4white · 56-60, M
@DearAmbellina2113 and his followers love that too … don’t get me going lol
Carla · 61-69, F
@DearAmbellina2113 oh, absolutely. He so admires the way kim is "adored" by his people and the way they obey him.
black4white · 56-60, M
@Carla @DearAmbellina2113 yes yes his minions are already there and they believe he tell no lies 😂🤣😂 ok ok I could not resist
Wasteful automated system not resetting as decided 22 years ago
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M

@jshm2 and what better slaves could you ask for? Old and infirm farm labor.
What's a few dead people in the fields? Fertilizer...

That pic has zero to do with the elderly, children or the disabled. Your point?
Carla · 61-69, F
Yeah like I said. @Carla
TexChik · F
@jackjjackson Oh she is right on point with the lib talking points. Suddenly she is concerned with people dying...yet said nothing while Americans froze to death in tents in North Carolina after Biden and the libs would only offer them $700 each while then forcing them to apply for it. They would not allow private aid into the region until it was clear they were not going to win the election. Trump sent in the corps of Engineers and gave a grand sum of 3.2 billion to rebuild the lives that were destroyed. But cleaning the deadwood and the illegal recipients out of the Medicaid rolls is a mortal sin? Since USAID has been defunded the libs gotta get their cash from other sources.
