I'll go work on a farm, but do I get paid and will I get healthcare?
Carla · 61-69, F
@ScreamingFox you'll get paid. Minimum wage is like $7.50 per hour.
Who knows about medical. Farmers aren't known for handing out benefits.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@Carla You mean benefits such as medicaid?
Carla · 61-69, F
@Adrift vacation, medical...

Seems a boon to farmers. Get cheap, abiet compromised, farm labor and the govt will cover medical.

Medicaid id paid by the govt.
But only if one meets the financial guidelines.

@ScreamingFox But isn't that really the point or am I missing it. We complain (well at least I do) about China and the Asian countries abusing its population/employees with minimal pay, horrendous hours and conditions and then they flood the American market with cheap goods that us Greedy Americans gobble up because you cant have enough 72" tv's and yet WE and right now it is the democrats supporting the idea that we should do the same, we will exploit the illegals so that our lawns get cut, groceries get picked to the shelf etc. It's stunning to me how Bernie could possible support this.
I think let the chips fall where they may clean everything up and live and pay what the market demands, that is capitalism. If if we have a shortage of labor we can increase the immigration to meet it as it is supposed to work.

@Jenna76 Swap out Asian countries for western countries and you get the working conditions here during Industrial revolution. We did it before they did. We exploited workers, polluted environment, destroyed eco systems.
I agree with what you’re saying though. But to me, it doesn’t have to be made here. It should be ethically made with fair wages. And it could still be cheap, just not as cheap
Capitalism isn’t about making things locally. It’s about making things efficiently
