Why are republicans Christian, mean and stupid?

Old school Christianity
Is based on god loves us best
Anything that is not us is inferior
Therefore they feel it is okay to oppress those beneath
Therefore Mean

Learning shows this to be untrue
Rejecting learning, they are then stupid

Republicans universally are mostly Christian, the old school kind because they courted such during the Regan Era , to try to preserve their dwindling power
Thus more old school Christians
Came to dominate that party
So
Mean Stupid and old style Christians

Be sure not all Christians are old style fundamentalist
Many forms value education
Thus not stupid
They venerated the teachings of Jesus thus not mean
They repudiated the right wing
Thus not republicans

If you are that old and writing like a 3rd grader you have bigger issues at hand.

Just as [i]you[/i] have moments of being mean and stupid, so do individual members of the group "Republican", and the separate group "Christian". You fail to recognize the millions of Democrat Christians, and the hundreds of thousands of kind and intelligent Republicans.

Lumping ALL members of such huge groups into the category "mean and stupid" shows a lack of perception, or temporary blindness, probably brought on by your own hurt feelings.

Why would anyone ask such a mean and stupid question??

Short answer [b]US and Them[/b] . Couple with a[b] black and white world view [/b]L and bonded with [b]faith over evidence[/b] :

If you had to boil it down to a point of singularity I would offer up that it is self-segregation their creation of the [b]Us and Them paradigm. [/b] I would offer up that in terms of segregation most of Christianity in the USA at least, is like that.

Segregation is a cornerstone of their religion from their self-victimization / their persecution complex to their [i]our values vs your values [/i]in American culture today.

Christian churches both conservative and maybe 1/2 conservative or conversative light (like the Methodists) self segregate most noticeably along racial lines which is the easy way to visibly see their strong desire for self segregation.

You can also see it in their church split offs from the birth of Lutheranism to the recent ideological split of the Episcopalian church over gay marriage.

By other-ing all of us who are not Christians it =makes it easier for many of them to be mean or indifferent to the others. It is also why their is over 300 different kinds of Christianity. Ideological or cultural friction internally creates a new branch. Differences is their Mendoza line.

You probably have friends who are Christians, and some who vote republican (I do) as reader to this in inspire of not being conservative. I can guarantee you have crossed their us-and-them line by being their neighbor, sharing an activity interest with them or something similar.

The second part of it is a black-and-white world view. Seeing with world as good and evil. Most of us non-Christians probably see the world in shades of grey where people are complex and have some good and bad to them. In the construct of Christianity, at least how it is practiced in the USA the adherents tend to categorize many things as evil and good---an over simplification to the complexity that is mankind.

In that idea it is easer for them to take extreme positions on many things the rest of us would be much more apt to see in shades or gray. Many things from them go from good to evil and maybe back almost instantly. in depth thinking isn't really that religions thing. Which gets us to

[b]faith over evidence[/b] Every time you ask them for evidence you either get a personal (and private) revelation or it is just my belief response. Being able to hold a position in absolute certainty based on faith alone is a super-power. It is why they groups don't feel the need to back up their claims on any level and why the rest of us look at them and "[i]wow that is stupid position to hold with no evidence[/i].": You and I and other non-believers are plebeians (others) to them for using evidence to back up our claims on any level. If you look at any particular week in your life you can that condescendence attitude from some Christian you interacted with.

Beyond that you said republican / I would offer up that is all of Christianity in the USA but that republicans have found the nasty-est way to express their us and them, black-and-white- and faith over evidence.

Someone has to be intellectualy challenged to believe in Christianity.

Are there some Democrats that are mean and stupid? Yes
Are there some atheists that are mean and stupid? Yes
However to make a blanket statement that any of these groups are mean and stupid shows a lack of critical thinking or intentional malice

It's never too late to get an education.

They want smart cities, no air conditioners, hot water heaters, limit how much meat humans can consume, ban cars, take away farm land away from citizens and make food not a human right.

I'd be careful about making an indiscriminate claim like that, but we've seen enough examples to know there's truth to this claim.

At its base level, there are Christians who see their faith as the strength they need to serve others in the world. For others, it's a club where they feel safe and superior.

Christianity and poor education define the region where the Republican party is centered.

It started with Reagan — they like living in an illusion, and they define themselves by having enemies.

The issue that Democrats have with God and religion, in general, is that Democrats see themselves as superior to God and that whatever basic rights we humans may profess are really rights given at the discretion of government, with Democrats being in control of that government.

When we see "Republican and Christian" in the same sentence.......you are NOT discussing actual "Christians". You are discussing what was once God-based belief....that has morphed into "white Christian (Republican) nationalism" belief system. NOT the same thing.

Christian Nationalism is the joining of "if you are a Christian then you MUST vote Republican and vice versa". The Republican courting of the Chrisitan vote started with Jerry Falwell during the Reagan era. The "Moral Majority" and the "Christian Right". Getting a new voting block by convincing those that USED to be Christians that their first love should be the Republican Party......not God. Their duty should be to keep America white.......in the name of religion......"as God intended". And the only way to do that.....is to keep the trash Mexicans and anyone else who is black or brown skinned out of our country........is to vote Republican.
